Here’s Cenk Uygur on CNN, telling us “I Gotta Tell People The Truth! Which Is That the Democrats & the Republicans Are Here To SCREW YOU! Look, they’re about to cut Social Security, they’re about to cut taxes on the rich. It’s insanity. And who on the air is saying it?”

Cenk was the only one allowed to speak that truth.
Soooo Big Eddie Schultz, Rachel Maddow and even the guy from CNN have been exposed.
Again.
God bless this man of principle.. A real honest journalist.
As an aside, I contacted MSNBC and told them I will NEVER watch ANY of their shows. Even the ones like Lock Down that I like.
Honest journalist? Thirty lashes. (Also the cone of invisibilty and the muzzle of silence.)
Nobody will ever come close to Carlin when it comes to comics/comedians Str8 out speaking truth to power. NOBODY. Carlin had it ALL figured out long before most of us did. Pryor dabbled in it but it was more in story telling and inuendos. I remember when Pryor’s LP circa 1976, Bicentennial N____r came out I laughed for hours. Both comic geniuses.
Wow, that guy who interviewed Cenk was kinda an ass. I like how he didn’t affirm or deny most of his comments. I like his big confrontation speaking in generalizations how the media “confronts” the politicians.. but tap dances around the details. Schmuck.
It’s not journalism!!!
It’s corporate media!
If the WH, or anyone in power, can tell journalists to tone it down or we will fire you, then journalism is dead.
And it is. Let’s not kid ourselves.
It’s dead, buried, and will not rise again in this country.
Yes, there are the few who still do journalism. They are the exception that proves the rule.
Bloody hell, how many Taibis are out there compared to the corporate pawns?
He also said they chose Al Sharpton over him to host the 6pm slot because Al Sharpton refuses to criticize the president. There was a segment on Ed’s show with Cornel West and two more centrist African Americans calling Sharpton out on that specifically.
Cenk gave the other MSNBC hosts props in the video posted here @ FDL — http://fdlaction.firedoglake.com/2011/07/21/cenk-uygur-on-why-he-left-msnbc/
Especially Ratigan – Cenk seemed incredulous that Dylan Ratigan is still on the air.
Lol – the CNN guy saying “did anyone tell you to change your position?” No dweeb they shelved him for speaking the truth, for not being “an insider” – despite rising to number 1 over Fox in his time slot.
I used to hate all Turks for the Armenian genocide (wrong I know) … now between Cenk and the Young Turks, the Turkish government apology and the Marmara trying to run the blockade on Gaza *poof* I am freed from wrestling that ball of hate. Nice.
Amy Goodman. ;o)
The D’s and R’s are here to screw you. Exactly what I keep saying. Thanks Cenk. You could have been a well paid purveyor of Fascist propaganda. You chose to be your own man.
Way to go Cenk,to see there the kind of honor where love of country comes before ones self.I quit watching MSNBC when ed,rachel, howard all were told not to push for the USA Citizens Health Care Public Opption and to push the health insurance for profit.Tradors for an upper middle class life ed,rachel howard and the rest of MSNBC choose to piss on ower leg and tell us it raining.Cenk I’ll buy your book and would like to know where we can hear your independant news.
Yep, the short list is really short and long list doesn’t exist.
Cenk’s preaching to the choir here.
I hope he can get it together to find a platform to speak from and fast!
Before and after Cenk, Ratigan is the only one I can stomach to watch. Even Maddow dances around anything critical of Dems and more specifically O, she’s gone tribal no doubt. Big Ed just reminds me of a modern version of the old city square howler. “Come together here my friends and enemies for I have some news for you!!!!” I guess it’s style of delivery to some degree.
I have, over the past few months noticed the life of a MSNBC news host has been short. No, I will not call them journalists until you call Glen Beck a journalist. Yes, I think he was a loon, but I’m just saying. A reader named Liz Berry had some very interesting comments about what is happening due to G.E. being in control. You still around Liz? A few months ago, Chris Matthews said he was going to mention the Iraq, and Afganistan wars constantly until something was done. He mentioned them one time, that day. After reading what Liz said, and the rapid demise of Olberman, Uygar, and Schultz, I guess he is job-scared. Again, what Liz said seems very plausible.
I have no use for Joe Scarborough, Mika Brezenski, and Donny Duestch, but I do like the format. Point being, have you noticed the influx of Republican/Conservative “contributors” they now have?
So to sum it up, Cenk is right, we are being screwed by professional politicians, and the military industrial complex(G.E.) on both sides. I feel Chris Matthews and Rachel Maddow will survive. Hey Chris, did you even get kissed first? “Lets play Hardball”.
Imagine how in the dark we’d be if we didn’t have access to alternative reportage and analysis on the internet. Places like FDL are now all that separate us from complete tyrrany.
yep, Free Speech TV or Link TV would work for me….Gore’s Current TV channel, but KO probably put the kabosh on that in his contract.
Didn’t Comcast Cable buy into NBC inc.? Or has it not been approved by the FCC yet?
Welcome to the 21st century. The time of apathy, the time of just being another brick in the wall, the time of silence. Don’t think, don’t question, don’t comment. We will provide you with what you need. Yes, George could have said my comments with comedic insight that not only made you grin, but think as well… man.
I like what I have seen of Ratigan.
For the rest of those clowns (or Thom Hartmann), even if they are hard on Obama or the Democrats for one day, the next day the always seem to do a “retcon” reset back to Obamabots / Democratobots.
“Republicans are Bad, Mkay. You shouldn’t do Republicans, Mkay. If you do them you are bad, because Republicans are bad. MKay…”
Duh!
btcaltech, Kurt,
I don’t know who all is involved in NBC. I know Letterman has thrown them(G.E.) to the dogs for years.
Wow, great clip. Thanks for that catch.
Ratigan is on in the afternoon, so he can pretty much do what he wants.
It was prominent at DU, thus hard to miss.
could Howie be anymore of dick? Come on Howard! Cenk is trying to tell the trurg and you trying to make him look like an out control guy,,,by your actions Howie Cenk made his point
Was suddenly prompted to make a quick mental list of the people I think could do a much better job of running our country than either Zero or the Dems in Congress:
Matt Tiabbi
Jane Hamsher
Glenn Greenwald
Elizabeth Warren
Keith Olbermann
And even though he’s a youngster, right now I’d take Cenk over Zero.
Notice anything about this list? Not one of them is currently in government, and only one, Warren, has ever been.
Course it took him getting fired to figure that out. I figured it out in late 2008 and in the historic health care victory that Obama achieved for all Americans. We all have great health care now don’t we? OH WE DON’T do we? Darn. How’s that war draw down thing going? Oh nevermind, Obama lied about that too. MORE troops than ever.
OH YEAH and the day they fired Olbermann-was the last day I watched MSNBC.Taking the most loved host and not even giving him a goodbye was a fuck you to the viewers. So just like with Obama, if MSNBC says fuck you to me, I say fuck you back. What is so hard in understanding this America?
Cenk was here before he got the MSNBC gig,
http://www.theyoungturks.com/
and is still there now.
also check out dylan’s podcasts. http://www.dylanratigan.com/radiofreedylan/
This is Exhibit 100+ why Howard Kurtz cannot host a credible show. He comes across as the slick corporate apologist. Great contrast here with someone fighting the good fight.
Yep! they are doing wonders for a Paycheck from the Corporations.
Their(Shultz ,Maddow etc, etc) mission, get who ever watches the crap they put on TV to believe that DEM vs GOP dust-up is not kabuki, and they have succeded for the most part.
They have succeeded in getting the millionaires club(congress.especially DNC part) to be seen as really, really caring for ordinary Americans plight.
Remember they are the “establishment”.
Keith Olbermann ? U sure…His TV program suks.
MSNBC did Olbermann a favor….remember his endless “special comments” during GW Bush wrong doing, well even more wrong doing has been on patrol with Obama, hear any Special comments from Olbermann ?
What we don’t need are people who are bound to the Democratic party
cuz the Democratic party don’t give ahoot about us,ordinary Americans. And for that reason the DNC is just like the GOP determined to screw ordinary Americans.
I loved Cenk Uygur. He was the only one that I watched because he exposed how both political parties, Republicans and Democrats, including Obama, were in the pockets of the rich.
I have posted many of his videos and transcripts of his shows on MSNBC TV on my blog if anyone would like to view them.
Cenk Uygur was at his best when he was not interviewing Rendell, Shields, Bob Schum, and other political mouthpieces, but commentating, especially his three minute spiel at the conclusion of his show. I would have just featured an hour show of Cenk Uygur interpreting, analyzing, and commentating on the propaganda of all the politicians.
I refuse to watch that crap on MSNBC TV any more. I do, however, respect Dylan Ratigan. Chris Matthews show should no longer be called “Hardball” but “Softball”. Did you catch his recent show when he fawned over Kay Bailey Hutchison?
Too many sycophants posing as journalists. I’ll take a fighter like Cenk Uygur any day.
Al Sharpton defends Obama too much. I wonder why? LOL! I had trouble understanding Sharpton half the time.
Cenk Uygur, Bernie Sanders, or Robert Reich for President!
The Barefoot Accountant

He pissed off MSNBC’s corporate sponsors who are also the “sponsors” both parties. The sponsors pay the light bills at these networks (along with paying off the political leaderships of both parties). They can’t afford to let Cenk wake up too many suckers.
A-yep.
The best hope is for a responsive third party to take hold. This corporate party of America is destroying The American way of life as this party is bought and paid for by the oligarchy. The compelling interest is greed and power of a select few. its time to start to change things from the bottom up. I say Sanders/Kucinich in 2012.
Warren in 2012!

A three equal sign in a row filter kills all this spam.
Or is that too easy?
Gawd, this guy is obviously a loose cannon that had to be dumped!
Ok, I’m being facetious. I’m a huge admirer of Cenk and think he defended himself very ably in that clip (kudos to CNN for giving him the opportunity).
First Olbermann, now this. Sure Rachel is still there (mostly because she can deliver the viewers), but MSNBC is just a shadow of its former self.
“maybe we’ll have you back (since you’re now liberated).”
yeah, right! Kurtz is one of the political/media elite’s biggest bootlickers. GG has documented this fact many times. What a joke.
Comcast did buy NBC. The sale became official a little before Keith left. They have been reorganizing. I’m pretty sure there has been some shifting of management at MSNBC, but I don’t remember what. But the corporate nature of MSNBC has never been far from the decisions. Joe Scarborough with a faux centrist co-host in the morning, Mrs. Greenspan in the afternoon. Hell firing the host of their highest rated show in the run up to the Iraq war with Donahue… It is why to anyone paying attention the liberal moniker was such a joke.
That and I don’t think you can discount the niche he fills there. He is essentially their business guy, and the answer to Larry Cramer without using the show to direct people to fluff his stock portfolio. While he has enough ‘news’ to fill the Cavuto role as well. So the anger works for their idea of what should happen.
The only reason they offered Cenk another contract is that they did not want him to go public with how they censored him.
He tried his best to make Cenk look bad, but Cenk didn’t let him manipulate the message and threw a truth bomb into the studio instead!
He’s gone Hamsher.
The Iraq war is over and the soldiers have all left.
Maddow was there and filmed it. Don’t you remember she led the cheerleading squad as they closed the gates after last vehicle left? /s
Cenk is absolutely correct. I watched him every night, I even winced a few times at the boldness of his judgements, yes sometimes they seem harsh, but he told it like it is and we all know what happens when you do that; it’s “The Disappearing Act” reprised. Don’t be fooled, MSNBC knows what side of the bread their butter is on and like all establishment institutions, they want to eat their cake and have it too. Only we, the viewers, can decide whether or not that’s going to happen for them.
As a progressive I, too, have been very disappointed with Obama. I worked for his campaign, donated time and money, and yes, I’m disappointed; in his lack of spine, his milquetoast negotiating style, and his willingness to throw his progressive supporters over the side. And Cenk was right to push that envelop. I won’t stop watching MSNBC completely over his firing, but I will drop out of the 6 – 7 slot now. I don’ want to watch anyone who is purposely holding their tongues – ala Fox News – for anyone.
ROFLMFAO
Thanks Hopeadope. I needed that. It is soooo good to know that one is not alone in “getting it.”
Mkay?
