Nancy Pfotenhauer who is a senior aide in the McCain campaign said that in the real Virginia McCain is strong. She claims that northern VA has been invaded by Democrats from Washington DC, and that in essence northern Virginia is metro DC.

So what. Are the northern Virginia residents who pay their state taxes, contribute to the local economy, who attend religious services, donate to local charities, build communities and put down roots less citizens then say the real Virginia that she’s referring to?

She also claims the real Virginia is more southern in nature.

Is this code for the white folks who embrace the confederate flag as their heritage? The people who pass on a legacy of hate and intolerance by hiding behind a flag that represents oppression, inequality, and white supremacy.

Was it a verbal Palin wink? I will say yes. Using the term real Virginia with the reference to being more southern in nature sounds like racial profiling and positioning by the McCain campaign about the race in Virginia.

I think the same folks who claim a confederate heritage think that their Virginia is the real one, the McCain campaign knows that and has no problem pandering to it as demonstrated by their rallies, robo calls and their spokespersons.
