…chanted over and over again today in the city where the Constitution originated the concept. I love protesting in Philly.
On a warm and breezy late fall day, in the city where the Constitution was written, our founding fathers smiled as the rights that they granted their citizens to peaceful assembly, and freedom of speech were exercised by myself and about 1,000 others.
We gathered to celebrate our first amendment rights, claim equal civil rights for all citizens, and to disavow hate by religious funded political initiatives.
I was heartened by the cross section of society today who who showed up. Those driving in their cars honking their horns in support. The tourists on the tour buses waving and cheering as they witnessed the implementation of the history that they just reviewed at Independence Hall. The police were great, and lead us in an SUV with lights flashing as we marched around City Hall.
Make no mistake about it, my anger towards the forces of hate who drove the campaign to remove and deny rights is just as strong as ever. Today was a respite from that anger. And the positive energy I felt today from exercising my rights with many who I don’t know across the country demonstrates that injustice served by those in the name of god and hate will not be tolerated.

Hey, MM! How cool it is that we were demonstrating at the same event, a couple thousand miles away!
Very cool, I love that we did along with many others.
Dugg
Now if I could get the photo of my sign to show up.
what did it say, MM?
It’s posted now, thanks to a moderator who is an angel and sweet as sugar.
Very snazzy! I forgot to take a picture of my sign–and gave it away when we left. It read:
Love and Commitment
Build Community
Hate and Bigotry
Tear It Down
How very true that is. Love thy neighbor as they say but some do not practice,
I’ve posted a link to other Join the Impact demonstrations at my diary…
Very cool I’ll have to check it out.
And ThinkProgress has great pics.

In Canada and many other countries I Know that millions are in sync with your protest about civil union and basic human right. I do believe you will beat the machine and I for one am going to use the phrase 2 4 6 8 separate church and state as a battle cry.
Thanks, it’s a great chant. It put a smile on my face on Sat.
