A true slice of Americana, just like apple pie and hot dogs on this America’s birthday. Such a classic.

Thanks for the treat, I love to watch him dance.
Yes it is a treat. It’s a long way from the grapefruit scene in Public Enemy.
I have always loved this movie. Just think – I saw it when it came out in 1942 ! Thanks for the reminder
of a happy time. I went directly to Amazon and ordered several for Christmas gifts.
I just love to watch him dance!
Last night, in our PBS market, we got to watch the “Ragtime” biography of Cagney, lotsa fun. As MM said earlier, they don’t make them like this anymore.
Awwwww that’s really sweet. Some really lucky folks getting a nice Christmas gift this year.
I didn’t learn until many years later that Cagney never had a dance lesson in his life. He was just pure talent and heart.
And no sex tape, implants, or girlfriend’s mother who is an ex vice presidential candidate to rock himself to stardom.
I don’t know where the mickey rooney-judy garland piece comes from, but I’ve got lots of great memories of watching Cagney every 4th of July.
That’s something that I really miss, the old movies that used to be played on Channel 5 in NY every Sunday from Abbot and Costello in the monring to the Bowery Boys and then in the afternoon movies with Dana Andrews, or John Wayne, or things like the Jolson Story with Larry Parks.
Sure beats the hell out of NASCAR and the other crap that fills TV now.
Hey MM, gotta love the Hat Pr0n!
