Not if recent history is any indication. From Sibel Edmonds’ Classified Woman:
On the evening of November 7, 2006, I was one of many national security whistleblowers who sat behind her desktop, online, anticipating the results. Many of us stayed up until late in the night counting, anticipating, and hoping. As now we know, the Democrats won, and became the majority in both House and Senate. We thought we had won; we celebrated online–prematurely. Our list of witnesses (that included my name) and our organized case documentations were ready for our long-anticipated January and February 2007 dreams for a hearing. Now, we felt, nothing could stop us. Our day in court had arrived, courtesy of the Democrats.
The month of January came and went without a single notification, e-mail or phone call from our “handful of congressional angels,” one of whom who had become the chairman of the Committee on Oversight and Government Reform. In February, we started to call. No one was returning them. I called and e-mailed our formerly fiery and supportive staff members from Henry Waxman’s office many times. I received no response. We tried three branches–the system of checks and balances–had been tampered with and permanently corrupted. We were a constitutional democracy in name only. Where was the rule of law? This was more than about a single issue or problem affecting some activists; this was a cancer metastisizing at its core, and the people didn’t even know about it.

There will not be a democratic takeover in 2014.
2014 will be a replay of 2010 where mouth foaming republicans in gerrymandered districts come out in droves and disheartened democrats stay home.
Obama’s quest for a “Grand Bargain” and democrats unwillingness to stand firm against cuts to earned benefits will make it a lock.
And of course, none of it really matters to those in the Political Class. If they win, they get to continue serving their masters in Congress or the Oval Office. If they lose, they get that revolving door job promised to them by their stance on unending war, unneeded military modernization, and helping to get the “Clean Energy Industry” to have the XL Pipeline built and the fracking to continue.
Nice to see Sibel Edmonds mentioned. Rec’ced article.
Yes. It doesn’t matter to the politicians if they win or not. Their big concern is what kind of employment they’ll be offered if they lose.
It doesn’t matter for us, either:
1. If the Democrats win, they’ll make excuses for siding with Obama.
2. If those big, bad Republicans win, Obama will, as the sycophants say, “cave.”
In some ways, it’s more frightening to have Democrats win. Domestic issues become a priority: we get stuck, for example. with having to buy shitty insurance we can’t afford, and Democrats will “cave” to Obama on any horrible cuts his puppeteers want him to enact.
Of minor interest is this: watching the same nationally-known “liberal voices” like Solomon, Solnit, KVH and “The Nation” gang all of a sudden do an about-face, stop criticizing Obama and the Democrats, and start touting LOTE again. They make their money by making sure Democrats have enough tenure to secure a job after they’re in office.
And on and on it goes, and where it stops, nobody knows.
At least for now.
