The crew of only three showed showed up to carry on the installation. Today they finished up getting all the panels in place and mounted to the support structure. They also got several of the arrays all wired together so that the output of the panels can be wired to the junction boxes and from there to the Inverters. There are two inverters, one for the first floor arrays and one for the second floor arrays. This is done so that if in the unlikely situation one inverter fails there will still be power generated from the other array and fed into the second inverter module. In that case Solar city would see by their remote monitoring system that the out put dropped and would send out a repairman to remedy the problem. Both inverters were also mounted along with the main concentrator box. Also today the conduit runs were started. Boy they sure did a lot of work today and they will be back at it early on Monday!

Cool stuff – thanks Nahant
very nice. and great slideshow. thanks!
What are inverters? How much do solar panels ad to the value of a home in California in todays rather depressed market?
I expect that when the market get better solar panels will increase the value of a home more than when the market is down.
My advice do not SELL until then.
TCU We do not plan to sell as we are pretty much tied to this location! But as to how much does it add to the value of your home? Well it would depend on the size of your system and probably the savings you get on your power bill. I guess a rule of thumb would be the large the system the more it would add to the value of your house, and the lease is fully transferable to the new owner!
As to your question of ” Whats an Inverter?” Answer from the Solar cuty web site:
Here is a link to Solar City’s FAQ page.
Thanks nahant.
Thanks nahant, demonstrating the process and sharing it sets a nice example.
Dugg and recommended
Thanks Neuro for your support in our green endeavor.
This is a good thing you are doing, nahant. I know it will benefit you financially, as you have explained. But it has benefits for society as well, both as a direct energy saver and as an example to others.
That is the reason I am writing the diaries in the first place, so We can be an example of just how painless it can be with the right Company. Solar City makes it so dam easy I don’t see why more and more people aren’t making that decision to go solar. With them you can’t lose!! No money down and nothing to pay until it is up and running. And the lease payment is structured so you save money!! Like I said you can’t go wrong. I would recommend them to all who own their home. The only gotcha is you have to have a good credit score and most home owners have a good score just to own a home… unless of course you are one of those who are not careful with money in the first place.
Hope everyone is enjoying the picture!! I will take more as things progress..
Thanks for sharing your experience with us!!
I’m especially interested in solar power, and I look forward to hearing how this all works out.
Will be eagerly awaiting the results!
pictures!
This like a visual primer/tutorial!!!
I found it all to not only enlightening as to ‘parts’ and how it works, but to SEE it all in place as it developed? Incredible.
Thanks so much for making it so simple to see!!!
Great, great chronicle Nahant . . . . thanks for sharing! *G*
