Daschle – limp.
Coburn – oh my, what a loon.
Armey – evasive, truculent, dismissive, cowardly.
Gregory – he didn’t obscure the show as badly as I had predicted he would.
Rangle – wtf…
And Rachel – like a laser.
Edited to include a lot of non-Maddow content, particularly Dick Armey. There is no way to give context to the discussion without it. So sorry.

I’ve already commented on late, late night, but I LOVED THIS!! To paraphrase an old West Wing line, “Hey Dick! You got your ass kicked by a girl.”
And outstanding prognostication skills, Newton!
Thanks, Newt. I could only stand 15 minutes of that stuff yesterday, so I had seen none of your second part. Rachel rawks!
Maddow did very, very well, imo. Her stock raised considerably–and so did the notion, I hope, that getting a true liberal at the table adds a great deal to the debate. In that it–finally–becomes a debate.
Hopefully, news producers will look at that segment and start looking for a stronger presence from the left in their panels.
I always feel like I need to take a shower after I see Dick Armey or Tom Coburn on tv.
They are so creepy.
What was all the hand-wringing that Armey was doing about? And, Coburn’s hair??? — parted down the middle and all fluffy — whatthe????
Bet they couldn’t wait to get back to their medieval sanctuary over at the “church”/wh*rehouse on C Street in DC . . . for their bjs and hjs from Sister Sarah.
Armey was obviously trying to keep his hands off Rachel. I’d have a hard time of it too :-)
IMO, she was completely out of her league; however, your comment puts things in perspective. Good luck with that.
I think it’s interesting to look at the little timer at the bottom & notice how much time Gregory gave to Armey. Also, Gregory interrupting Rachel [”let him finish”] but doing nothing when Armey interrupts her and attempts to treat her like a little kid.
Armey and Conrad are slime, and Gregory is content to join them.
Dick Armey’s nose keeps growing . Media Matters and David Gregory better fix that one.
Will David Gregory take the time to check and correct Armey’s lie
Watch what that camera person does. Armey often gets the full screen,
Yeah, I think that was the infotainment orientation – conflict is what they’re hoping for, expecting sparks from Armey.
Of course, it did show his smarmy smirking…and more than one of us commenting live yesterday thought he was drunk.
Rachel did great under the circumstances – which include being the only woman with 5 guys, one of whom is the “moderator.” As usual, Gregory made people interrupted by Repubs stop and “let him finish”, but not those interrupting Dems.
Didja notice how often Coburn said, self-righteously, “let me finish” to Tom Daschle, whom he had interrupted? He never hesitated to interrupt before Daschle got 5 words out.
Same with Rachel – unless she wanted to start yelling and talking louder than Armey and Coburn and Gregory, she had no choice – and that, trust me, would have been seen has her bad behavior.
Nonetheless, she had her facts and put them out there refuting the made-up shit Armey and Coburn were peddling.
Any bets that she barged into Gregory’s make
outup room afterward and schooled him on being an effective moderator ?Rachel is a Star…a brilliant star..and the others were tired old Cows. Armey was a true embarrassment. What a bag of hot air. And obviously a nutcase..what was that bit about suing to not have Medicare ? I dont know what that hand-wringing was. Maybe he really wanted to strangle Rachel? It sure was something pathological ? She was Not out of her depth..at least she wasnt mired in slime. It was probably par for NBC tv, which I never watch, to be a bunch of rude blow hards. Rachel was a Walking Razor. Go Girl !!
I hope Rachel is seen as what we miss with Tim Russert. She’s prepared, knows how to ask the tough questions and has a great mind that knows when someones blowing smoke in her face.
I no longer watch either Meet the Press nor Face the Nation as the show’s hosts just don’t have ability to ask the right question nor keep Republicans from spewing their talking points. I wonder if anyone know if there was a spike in ratings for Sunday’s show or are we just too few who really care.
Just have to say Armey’s hand wringing was like watching someone trying to wash away their lies but they just won’t go away. As far as Coburn’s hair I kept looking for his nose on top of his head above that mustache.
She’s way too polite to do that, you know that.
There is a “web extra” interview with Gregory after the show. I just watched it on my Air America email – probably it’s on msnbc.com somewhere, or even Rachel’s page.
Rachel is a Star…a brilliant star..and the others were tired old
Cowssteers.Fixed that for ya. Wanta be zoologically correct, ya know. ; )
Recommended.
Thanks Newt.
