Got the usual lipstick on a pig email I always get from Senator Boxer when she wants me to think she still works for me. I suppose it’s better than Feinstein does though. When she’s just participated in a massive train on the American public, she doesn’t even bother sending out these self congratulatory little tidbits.
- – - – - NEWS FROM BARBARA BOXER, UNITED STATES SENATOR FROM CALIFORNIA – - – - - August 02, 2011Dear Friend:Today I voted for legislation to end the threat of the first default in our nation’s history. The measure passed the Senate on a 74-26 vote and was signed into law by President Obama.
We acted to prevent a catastrophic default that would have hurt every American. But let’s be clear: This was a Republican-made crisis.
Never before in our nation’s history has one party held the full faith and credit of the United States hostage and taken our country to the brink of a default in order to push its extreme ideological agenda. It was reckless, it was wrong, and we must ensure it never happens again.
I am pleased that we took steps to protect Social Security, Medicare, and other critical lifelines for our most vulnerable citizens. Now we must turn our attention to our country’s most pressing priority: creating jobs and strengthening our economy.
Sincerely,
Barbara Boxer
United States Senator

Is that or is that not an invitation to respond? Well I took it as one and not being one to waste a perfectly good opportunity to tell some little college kid intern what I thought, I responded: I even pretended to myself that the senator herself might even read it.
With all due respect and with appreciation for our not defaulting, ma’am… although I still don’t think we ever would have… you didn’t preserve Social Security and Medicare from diddly squat.
All you did was yet again boot the whole thing down the road for yet another one of your Catfood Commissions to dismantle later. Let’s see now… Is it Catfood 2 or or are we up to Catfood 3 by now? I’ve lost track. Oh yeah, wait… it’s the “SUPER CONGRESS” this time around. Guess “Catfood” strikes a little too close to the truth for some people.
You folks need to hold off on the self congratulations and back patting until you can look me in the eye and honestly tell me my benefits aren’t going to be cut. I’m always happy to give credit where credit is due, but this time you didn’t do anything but subject us to one of the most disgusting spectacles since the morons stopped even pretending to help govern the country and tried to impeach Clinton. I’m not all that good with seeing my country made the laughing stock of all developed nations… you know… the ones that are actually developed.
And before you resort to the “Oh, but we’re only going to cut payments to the patient care providers instead of beneficiaries” routine, I can tell you from first hand experience that all that does is get you dumped by anyone but some dude who a) Just blew in from Pakistan and has no shot at a private practice or b) just got out of school and is working off the public health requirement he agreed to in return for his student loan guarantees in a public health contract clinic somewhere.
It’s probably never occurred to you that not being able to see a specialist when you need one is… believe it or not… a loss of benefits and I haven’t seen a a cardiologist in over four years now in spite of a ticker that is a quarter again it’s original size and only pumps about 50% of the blood it used to because none of them take Medicare patients. Do you people really belive… or more to the point, expect ME to believe… that cutting their reimbursements even more is going to fix that?
Nah… all you folks did was drag to it’s inexorable end something that never should have been allowed to come to a head in the first place and the vast majority of Americans are in exactly the same place they were before it all happened.
I saw a lot of Tea Party members and Republicans getting air time all over the MSM in regard to how I needed to be tossed under the bus for the good of the country… I didn’t see too many Democrats getting in their faces about it. In fact, I saw quite a few of them agreeing that I DID need to be thrown under the bus, especially if they got to look like they were in favor of fixing our obscene tax situation while they did it.
Maybe Democrats are just genetically incapable of getting in someone’s face when their face needs to be gotten into… or maybe they simply serve the same special interests in the same way the Republicans do… but in any event PLEASE… don’t EVER let the Tea Party pee on my leg and then YOU send me an email trying to convince me it was just a warm rain again.

good rant Tom, it’s times like these that try men’s souls. I so fucking hate the entire political class in DC for selling out what’s left of the middle class, be they Democrats or Republicans, that I can’t even think straight. None of these lying, thieving, sacks of corporate-whore shit deserve our votes, money, time, or support ever again.
Boxer, Feinstein and the rest of these kabuki Democrats have been corrupted to the core by all the corporate cash they have taken over the years. That release is nothing but garbage. Boxer, Feinstein know full well the cuts to Medicare, SS are coming. They know the Catfood Commission will give them the cover to vote no and issue bullshit releases like this one when the automatic cuts take effect. I just call bullshit, bullshit, bullshit on these two Democratic frauds.
Tom B — concur with your pov and sentiment(s)
This “USG debt ceiling/spending crisis” was constructed/orchestrated by Obama,Obama WH and the D UniParty faction to further Obama’s Reaganism agenda.
To misdirect from what Bush,Cheney and the R Party’s Norquistian Nonsense/Quest have wrought.
So Senator Boxer(D) is going to polish this turdpile? Really?
That POTUS Obama sent signal(s) by putting Alan Simpson(R)on that Hack Attack On Social Security Commision’s on point position we know Barack Obama is set on undermining SS,Medicare and Medicaid.
Senator Boxer — coming from California — could have done some useful and much needed pushback during the course of the last few weeks but instead sent out this polishing the turdpile message.
One would not feel so abused if the top echelons of the Pentagon and CIA had stepped forward along with the big Wall Street gamers and suggested they had been/were in deep error, would all excercise some Japanese styled public shame and resign in disgrace. Then all would state intent to and decline some portion of their wealth grabs, pensions, healthcare packages and held wealth advantages and work to promote better USG politics and governance towards less odious American haves/have nots outcomes.
Barack Obama seems to be set on being dishonest and deceptive while playing by Wizard of Oz Rules where after putting on his staged Wizardry act he demands the Broom be brought to him before he will grant any wishes. Pure political misdirection in action.
Senator Boxer and the other 534 Americans in U.S.Congress ought to be deeply ashamed for what they will not do while letting what does happen in WashingtonDC take place. Uselessness multiplied.
That they are not ashamed or do not see why they should be ashamed is a form of moral, ethical and political blindness that inflicts suffering on those who can least fight back or endure it. It is this contempt of common,poor,under-advantaged and vulnerable Americans that has become so easily held/done by Barack Obama, his D Party and the likes of Senator Boxer that deserves serious/furious political blowback.
Sooner.Better.
Write her office back and explain the email was misdirected, as you are neither her Friend nor, it is quite clear, her employer.
From a cartoon :
“Cartoon : The real reason Dems favor stem cell research ? It is their best shot at regenerating some backbone.”
Got the same e-mail which prompted my “post-deal” calls to our so called representatives . I’m in with whoever wants to help me work to diss/elect these clowns from the Great State of California. I am embarrassed that their duplicity represents us!
So.
She’s a paid professional liar, like they all are and you can’t tell if they are lying or not , ever.
Imagine waking up as Barbara Boxer. It seems she would know deep down that she is completely unqualified and that she doesn’t know shit about shit. Most of us reach a point in life where we know what we are capable of and what we aren’t and we stick to the former and avoid the latter. But these clowns in Washington carry on as though they believe they are the best people for the job. Are they delusional? Or are they just professional liars? Delusional or evil. Those really seem like the only possibilities. It is really so fucked up that town. Over the years, there have been a few Democrats that I have respected and a few Republicans even. But they have all been driven from office. From Lowell Weicker to down through Russ Feingold. If they have principles, they are driven from town. The corruption has to be 99.5% complete. Game over.
What else would you have expected Boxer to say?
recommended and tweeted. Great post, Tom. Thanks for sharing. And to think, at one time in my life I lived in California and loved Barbara Boxer. Times change, don’t they?
You are right. The political class in Washington DC are a bunch of rich millionaire entitled snobs who are fakes and liars and you can include President Obama and his entire cabinet. I speak for them too.
We really must dig deep and take up the courage to run for office ourselves as Independents in 2012. Enough of these plutocrats. Let’s kick the entire House of Representatives out of office in 2012–maybe a few progressives from the 51 but that’s it.
A couple of weeks back, I went to see Boxer and Feinstein at their Los Angeles offices. I remember speaking with one of their staff about not cutting Medicare, Medicaid or Social Security. As expected, I was greeted by a staffer/intern who looked barely out of high school. I gave them the FDL printout sheets for documentation. I thought I would make it personal and say that I am fighting so that they will have the option to retire at age 65/67 and have their medical bills taken care of. I also said that if heaven forbid that they get seriously injured, Social Security would kick in. The deer-in-the-headlights look said it all.
“you can’t tell if they are lying or not “
Just take it for granted.
She could have voted against and explained she believed it was a time for the President to lead and invoke the 14th, mint a coin, etc. I think that would have helped her mightily, though I am sure whe would have been punished by the Obama subverted DNC.
I really don’t understand ther motivations half the time. I mean, it’s not like these self-waxing fuckers actually need their jobs. Why can’t they take the proncipled, people oriented stand then?! What? Are they that empty as human beings? Are they afraid of being executed by the MOTU’s if they stray too far? Not saying that’s not a possibility, but com’on.
Well yes she could have voted against but she didn’t do that. Are you saying that she wanted to but didn’t or couldn’t? If so, on what basis? She probably would have suggested that Obama invoke the 14th amendment if she thought he could have.
You seem to believe that Boxer did not vote the way she wanted to vote but there’s no evidence of that.
It’s not likely that a very young staffer would have much influence with Boxer, is it?
I think that’s part of his point. It was in my remark on the young intern anyway. I’m betting that in 98 out of a hundred cases like this, a kid intern is the only person that ever sees one of these complaints and all she or he does is check their database and pick the boilerplate reply they think comes closest to a match.
I once sent DiFi a complaint about the jobs situation and got a reply telling me she shared my concern about gas prices. Never once mentioned anything about jobs or unemployment.
Well, if you need someone to do the bull in a china shop thing, just point me in the right direction and let me go.
