UPDATED: Amherst: Police Riot & Torture UMass Students –by NormanB (“Deviations from the Norm”)
Apparently because students and guests were drinking before noon Saturday and wearing annoying green clothes, police in Amherst, Massachusetts rioted and cruelly Tortured people for no reason, as is shown in the above videos. If the kids were doing something annoying, why didn’t they just advise them to get a life? http://thelibertydoll.com/2014/03/09/riot-police-tear-gas-pepper-spray-umass-students-blarney-blowout-2014/
Police from Amherst, UMass, and Massachusetts State Troopers were there. According to published reports and videos, they Tortured attendees with Taser, Tear Gas, Pepper Spray, Rubber Bullets, and Pepper Bullets. Witnesses saw police dragging a man with a bloodied face. No one was reported killed in the police riot. Attention victims: Here is how to file a Torture complaint with the UN: http://www.ohchr.org/EN/HRBodies/HRC/ComplaintProcedure/Pages/HRCComplaintProcedureIndex.aspx
Students will be gone on Spring Break when St. Patrick’s Day gets here, so they tried to substitute party this past weekend. The police on the other hand stopped buses [the way most people get around here] from running all morning to the part of town intended for the riot. The victims coudn’t get out.
Bizarrely, a University of Massachusetts official condemned – not the violent Torture of innocent students by jack-booted thugs [as seen above] – yes, condemned the behavior of the students partying, implying that Torturing students convicted of nothing is OK with the University. Make a note of that, parents, before sending your children. The use of these weapons in wars is forbidden by International Law. http://www.bostonmagazine.com/news/blog/2014/03/10/blarney-blowout-umass-amherst-arrests/
At Noon today a flashmob protest march will begin at the UMass Student Union. The march will last for an hour. https://www.facebook.com/events/685003834869440/685135154856308/?notif_t=event_mall_reply
Lots of people were arrested at the town-wide event, dubbed the “The Blarney Blowout.” The majority were not UMass students. The party has happened here traditionally for years, with police presence and intolerance increasing every time. http://www.masslive.com/news/index.ssf/2014/03/more_than_half_of_those_arrest.html#incart_river
Student witness Olivia Kennis describes the police riot here. http://www.hercampus.com/school/u-mass-amherst/open-letter-umass-amherst-community-regarding-blarney-blowout-students
I’m headed off for the riot – I mean demonstration – now. I’ll have a further update when I’m back, hopefully not reporting more violence. Please read witness report(s) and view video(s) in Comments below.
