ObamaDems Unveil Insane & Stupid Climate-Science-Denial Mass Suicide Plan that Fracks All the Children to Death & Spawns Giant Hurricanes – by NormanB (“Deviations from the Norm”)

What is the most important issue in this 2012 US Presidential Election? Does either of these guys even have a philosophy?

“There is only one really serious philosophical question, and that is suicide,” Albert Camus taught us in his absurdist essay The Myth of Sisyphus. Should I, or should we commit suicide? That is the most important question before us this Presidential Election, just as it is the most important political question we face every day of our lives; because, if the answer is “Yes, we should commit suicide,” then all the other issues pale in comparison. And if we go ahead and commit suicide, the rest of the questions will no longer matter. In a way.

In order to get energy for our nation, President Obama and his pretend opponent Mitt Romney are advocating burning Coal and Oil. They’re both advocating Onshore Drilling and Offshore Drilling and Fracking and Coal Mining Shale Mining and Nuclear Energy. During the most recent Debate President Obama (nominally the more Left of the two because he’s a Democrat) again attacked Romney from the Right, saying that Romney had once, as Governor of Massachusetts, said that a Coal Plant “‘kills people.’” The President’s meaning was already clear, but he went on to emphatically state that he would never stand in the way of Coal, because he believes in “Clean Coal”: There is actually no such thing as Clean Coal, yet the President keeps lying about this non-existent product.

Yes, Romney said Coal kills. And Obama’s EPA defined CO2 as a “Dangerous Pollutant.” This is what they both want to do to the children of America and the children of the world. Here’s proof that they both know that what they’re proposing is Murderous: http://www.politicususa.com/romnesia-spreads-paul-ryan-forgets-romneys-coal-kills-record.html and http://blog.heritage.org/2009/12/07/epa-formally-declares-co2-a-dangerous-pollutant/

I wouldn’t be surprised if they’re not both laughing it up together at the electorate’s cluelessness: “We’ll trick the people in North Dakota into Frack-poisoning their own water!” “We’ll trick and intimidate the Coal Miners into killing their own children!” “We’ll trick the country into getting rid of its trees!”

So, the Obromneys have decided that mass suicide is alright. Let’s just ignore science and burn even more Fossil Fuels. Let’s burn Nuclear fires too, and tell them that it helps the climate. Yes, it’s true, killing off the children is how a society commits mass suicide. But I just don’t believe that it’s right, so I can’t go along with the President on this one.

Lund University in Sweden proved my friend Jack Herer’s hypothesis that growing Hemp for clean fuel on 6% of US arable land would produce more than enough energy to power our entire country, with no net emissions of CO2 or other Greenhouse Gases. Science tells us there is a way to get our energy without committing suicide. But President Obama says we should commit suicide by superstitiously burning more of these Fossil Fuels that are destroying the delicate climate balance that has kept humans as the dominant animal species on the planet, for the last hundred centuries.

Before that, our planet was going through an Ice Age, and there were giant cats and giant elephant-like creatures and giant bears and giant wolves. The climate was perfect for them. Then, that Ice Age ended in a period of intense Global Warming. Right then, most of the animals larger than us died off. The climate became perfect for humans. In this new Global Warming period, if it’s allowed to proceed, humans and other animals for whom this climate is now perfect will die off. http://my.firedoglake.com/normanb/2010/11/11/breakthrough-swedish-hemp-energy-study-corroborates-hemp-emperor-herer/ and  http://mamamojournal.blogspot.com/2010/11/hemp-energy-farming-breakthrough-study.html and http://www.electricemperor.com/eecdrom/ and http://www.sciencedirect.com/science?_ob=ArticleURL&_udi=B6V24-51C4RRC-4&_user=10&_coverDate=10%2F31%2F2010&_rdoc=1&_fmt=high&_orig=search&_origin=search&_sort=d&_docanchor=&view=c&_searchStrId=1537022627&_rerunOrigin=google&_acct=C000050221&_version=1&_urlVersion=0&_userid=10&md5=2c65f9591666c0e3039de2fae1c04549&searchtype=a

Welcome to Jonestown, USA! Obama and Romney both say “Drink the Kool Aid!” What other choice do we have? Science tells us that with Hemp we can avoid killing all the world’s children with dangerous and deadly Carbon Dioxide. But our President advises us to go ahead and kill them anyway.

If other candidates do recognize the truth, they may be afraid to state it. Green Party Presidential nominee Jill Stein is the only Presidential candidate stressing the fact that we can stop Global Warming, quickly, and it would energize and enrich our nation. And it would avoid mass suicide – it would avoid killing the children. Won’t somebody think of the children?! Listen to Jill Stein’s speeches: She says over and over again: “We can stop [Global Warming].” We can.

November 5, 2012, the day before the rigged Election, the day before millions of Americans will drink the Kool Aid, Jill Stein will Debate Libertarian Presidential candidate Gary Johnson, the former Governor of New Mexico. You’ve already heard the non-Debates. Don’t drink the Kool Aid. http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/election-2012/wp/2012/10/26/gary-johnson-and-jill-stein-will-debate-one-on-one/ and http://www.examiner.com/article/update-reminder-third-party-debates-moved-to-monday-nov-5

The Magic Map says 43 States Want Pot Reform; but the Clock says Just 4 Days Left to Repeal Prohibition with President Jill Stein

The Magic Map says 43 States Want Pot Reform; but the Clock says Just 4 Days Left to Repeal Prohibition with President Jill Stein — by NormanB (“Deviations from the Norm”)

This story really has some teeth. It should grow some legs. This is an emergency! Lots of lemmings are galloping over the edge of the pier, into the cold sea, but some of us are turning Left instead of falling off, because there is a real alternative. http://www.jillstein.org/funding

As the 1932 US Presidential Election was a referendum on Legalizing Ethanol, the 2012 US Presidential Election will be a referendum on Legalizing Cannabis. We are that close now. Only seven states are not considering Legalizing this year – the other 43 and the District of Columbia are. (Did I say Colombia?!) (Never mind, I guess you’d have to be nearly as old as me to get that joke.)

When the US repealed Alcohol Prohibition in 1933, the voters didn’t have to wait to have a drink until the legislators in their state got around to Legalizing their drug of choice, Ethanol. Most of you know that it was Legalized by a Constitutional Amendment, which repealed another Constitutional Amendment. You may not realize that that repeal process, a series of Article V Constitutional Conventions, took only nine months from the first state (Massachusetts) until the 37th state (Utah) passed the Amendment, making it the law of the land. But still the people didn’t have to wait out that process. Because they had already forced the hand of the politicians. The people had spoken. On the Prohibition issue anyway, the people had taken over!

Prohibition of Ethanol terribly damaged our national and world economy and ecology. It corrupted diplomats, spies, businessmen, politicians, and police. Sound familiar? The Democrats and Republicans were both far-Right-wing Parties at that time. Both tried to keep Prohibition and its high-paying crime and corruption going strong. The Republicans were the Party of Big Business, and the Democrats were the Party of the Ku Klux Klan. Just nine years earlier, in 1924, the largest Klan Rally in history took place, at the Democratic National Convention. Then, five years later, the stock market crashed. Then, the people finally said “No” to the duopoly legacy Parties.

Franklin Delano Roosevelt bucked his own Democratic Party on Prohibition. He announced that he would be having a drink as soon as the law was repealed. But he didn’t have to wait that long. And neither did the voters. In fact, for the Prohibition Repeal of 1933, the celebrants didn’t even have to wait until 1933. Ethanol was de facto Legalized the very next day after the 1932 Presidential Election: The people had spoken: The people elected Roosevelt: The people started legally selling and using their drug of choice, right away, as much as they wanted. We can do the same. Support Jill Stein.

Massachusetts attorney Richard Evans has been instrumental in the Marijuana law reform movement here in Massachusetts. He has prepared a series of historical lectures and presentations on the two Prohibitions, teaching how they are alike, teaching how the first one was repealed, teaching how this one can be repealed. Here are links to historical teaching material on Prohibition from Dick Evans. Check them out when you get a chance. http://mamamojournal.blogspot.com/2011/02/notes-from-dick-evans-presentation.html

Green Party Presidential candidate Jill Stein stands ready to bring the United States into the 21st Century on environment, economy, energy, Human Rights, and peace. You don’t have to choose somebody from the corrupt far-Right criminal Parties. You can be a part of a true revolution! Jill Stein needs your help to gain enough money in donations in just over three days to win over to her campaign coffers more than one hundred thousand dollars in matching funds. That influx of cash will boost visibility and viability of Stein and the Green Party. On environment, economy, energy, Human Rights, and peace, the two big Parties seem either evil or superstitious – but most Americans assume that the reason nearly all elected Republicans and Democrats act that way is that they take bribes from the 1%. Recent polls decrying the lack of choice in the 2012 Presidential Election indicate that both Republicrat candidates are no damn good. In any case, the Democratic Republican Obromneys can’t be viable, because they’re not sustainable!

Now we’re in a Green Revolution, and we can win it. We will win it, if our species is to survive. Al Gore was just in Washington again this week, asking them to be reasonable. They’re not. They’re instead being dishonest, and acting superstitious. President Obama this week snubbed another climate conference, this one’s in Rio de Janeiro. I just saw Canadian scientist David Suzuki speaking from there on Democracy Now! He said we’re doomed because of that snubbing by US politicians. He said that because of these environmental Atrocities, humans may have only a 50% chance of surviving the 21st Century. Ignoring climate change is a real crime.

As I asserted in my previous article on the subject, scientists at Lund University in Sweden have proven my friend Jack Herer’s hypothesis that growing Cannabis Hemp on 6% of US arable land can produce enough clean energy to power our entire economy, replacing all current usage of Nuclear power, Oil, gasoline, diesel, natural gas, and propane; without causing any Global Warming! Cannabis fuels do not add CO2 to our atmosphere, because the only Carbon in biofuels is that which was recently absorbed out of the air: Hempen biofuels are Carbon neutral. If we begin growing Hemp today on 6% of our arable land, the US could be energy independent by 45 days from now, never needing Fracking, pipelines, Coal mining, offshore drilling, or onshore drilling. Those dirty Fossil Fuels should keep their Oily fangs out of our funky shores! Check out these Jack Herer links about Hemp and Clean Energy, when you get the chance. http://my.firedoglake.com/normanb/2012/06/24/marijuana-voters-join-jill-stein-now-green-revolution-economic-conversion-this-week-only/

But, hey, we’re out of time. The bought-off major media keep telling people that they must choose the far-Right, anti-science, anti-Human-Rights, war monger Obama; or they must choose Romney, who claims to be worse than Obama. American democracy has never been in so much trouble. Think about it as if you were a foreign election observer, observing a foreign election: One set of campaign donors first funded George W. Bush, then funded Barack Obama, and are now funding Mitt Romney. At the same time, every televised news source (except Fox) constant tells Americans (in subtle and not so subtle ways) that they must vote for Obama, or they are doomed. Even Democracy Now! doesn’t mention Green Party Presidential candidates. Both Jill Stein and 2008 Green Vice Presidential nominee Rosa Clemente pointed it out to me: Democracy Now! doesn’t seriously cover the Greens in Presidential Elections. Google it. (They spoke to Roseanne Barr, as a novelty, once).

Jill Stein has just over 3 more days left to qualify for matching funds for her campaign. She is very close. If she gets it, she will be the first Green Presidential candidate to do so, quite an accomplishment in itself. If she makes it, the campaign garners more than one hundred thousand dollars in matching funds, to help get the word out. If she gets it, we might get legal Marijuana this November. Of course, the Obromney Republicrats have a lot more money than Jill Stein will get. But everybody knows that they are loudmouthed liars. Jill Stein is not a TV star. Jill Stein’s voice is not loud, but she speaks the truth. She is principled. Has any other candidate told you about the Slavery, Genocide, Torture, and repression our Government is carrying out in Bahrain? Of course not. They wouldn’t dare! http://www.jillstein.org/funding

How could the Holocaust happen? Politicians were unprincipled. Voters didn’t care much, didn’t want to think about it. A lot more is at stake than just Marijuana. But Marijuana voters hold the key. Many people, like my friend Dick Evans, say it should be [or at least that it will be] taxed and regulated “like alcohol.” But Boston activist attorney Steve Epstein, also very important in the Marijuana movement here, says they should take it a step further, and make it “Legal like tomatoes.” Steve is right. Legalize it first. If we elect Jill Stein President on November 6, 2012, we can start legally growing it, smoking it, and trading it right away, when the results are announced, that night; because the people will have spoken!

Jill Stein needs to collect at least $5,000 in donations from each of at least 20 states in order to get the matching funds. She has already made it in eleven states. She needs just nine more. Call your friends in different states who care about these issues. The first $250 of any donation counts toward securing the matching funds for the campaign. Of course, she needs donations in any amount and from any state. But this map or the Jill Stein funding link will help you think of who to call, by showing you which states are within reach of the $5,000. We need nine. If you know anybody in those states who cares about Marijuana and Hemp issues, or who cares about peace and justice, for that matter, or who cares about energy and the environment and the economy, please, if you know people there who care, call them or email them. Send them this link. Broadcast this all over the internet as fast as you can, because we need to get this done, now!

Accept no (l)imitations. Dr. Jill Stein, MD. Give Now! After Jill Stein is elected, we’ll be powering our cars and power plants on Green Energy. And to celebrate, I’ll take a toke from that same plant – the Hemp plant – the same plant that those clean fuels are made from, and when I do, I’ll feel the Green Energy. Join the Green Party. It’s time for Economic Conversion! Join the Green Revolution. Click on the Jill Stein funding link, get out your digital wallet, and send her some Green Energy. Do it now. Please. Future generations are depending on you. http://www.jillstein.org/funding

How to Read this Map

A. Get so stoned that it looks like a map. All 50 states and the District of Columbia are situated approximately where they should be. Find your state on the map. Compare it to other states.

B. The caption for each state shows how close Dr. Stein is to securing $5,000 in donations from that state, and it shows the Marijuana legal situation in the state.

Line 1: Two-letter state abbreviation, followed in parentheses by the number of donors needed to put that state over the top, assuming that each donor gives the maximum of $250.

Line 2: Tells if donation collection in each state is: Below 25% of the $5,000 needed [<1/4]; around a quarter of the way there, as estimated by the campaign [quart]; around halfway there [half]; more than three-quarters there [>3/4]; or already over $5,000 [done].

Line 3: Tells if state has Medical Marijuana [mmj]; if the state’s Medi-Juana is crucial to our national economy [mmj(!)]; and if the state had/has a Marijuana Proposition this year [prop].

Line 4: Tells if Marijuana is on the ballot in the state this year [ballot]; if outlaw Marijuana Smokeasies currently operate in the state [smokeasy]; if state citizens frequently use Civil Disobedience pot smoking to intimidate police [CD]; if the state has a strong Industrial Hemp movement [hemp]; if the state has Willie Nelson helping out its (Industrial) Hemp movement [Willie]; and if the state has a hidden loophole through which Marijuana is already more legal than it is in other states [loophole]. (The Line 4 stuff may spill over into other Lines. That’s just it goes when you get to Line 4.)

Loopholes: (1) In Florida, prescription Marijuana is already legal. Very few people get it. Elvy Musikka, a good friend of mine who has severe Glaucoma, is one of the few patients in this country getting it prescribed. Unfortunately, it is the worst pot you can imagine: The males and females aren’t separated; it’s harvested by lawnmower; if she gets a bud, it’s by accident; it’s warehoused for years so that by the time she gets it, she has to re-humidify it or it won’t even smoke. (2) In Ohio, if you possess less than 100 grams, you cannot even be ticketed. Nearly everyone in Ohio has under 100 grams. (3) Here in Massachusetts, if caught with Marijuana, the culprit doesn’t have to give the police his or her real name, and doesn’t have to pay the fine. Another Massachusetts Loophole: If the person caught with Marijuana is using it medicinally for Asthma, AIDS, or Cancer, then the charges must be dropped. (4) Alaska’s Supreme Court ruled Marijuana legal there. (~5) Wisconsin’s Constitution provides that possession of Marijuana on private property is not a crime unless and until someone files a complaint. (Wisconsin is not marked as a full Loophole on the map.)

The only seven states not trying to Legalize Marijuana this year are Georgia, Louisiana, Utah, Nebraska, Virginia, Minnesota, and Wyoming. Even so, in all seven of them, Marijuana is by far the biggest cash crop.

http://www.jillstein.org/funding

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Jill Stein is the best candidate in the Presidential race on Marijuana. It’s time to stop beating around the bush and end Prohibition now. Legalize it. Under present law, before it can be prescribed or used legally, the President or the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) must order it removed from the Schedule 1 illegal drugs list, which purports that the drug has no medical use. Marijuana is on Schedule 1, even though its documented use as a medicine goes back thousands of years. Dr. Jill Stein, MD, is a Harvard-trained physician, and teaches medicine. She is an expert on the environmental impact of pollutants on people.
In ten states, citizens will be voting on Marijuana questions this year. Other states came close to getting such measures on their respective ballots – came close, but no cigar. Certainly in all those states, there are people who would enormously benefit from Jill Stein’s increased exposure in the campaign, should she get the matching funds. For instance, Marijuana is on the ballot in Oregon, and Jill Stein only needs two more donors to put Oregon over the $5,000 mark. Now, listen, both of you, I want you to forgo that next ounce, and give that $250 to Jill right now. Do it. If you’re in other states, give anyway. You can check the map to see if your state is voting on pot, and what the Marijuana movement is like in neighboring states.
Eighteen states (including the District of Columbia) have Medical Marijuana according to law now, but the Federal Government under President Obama has been ruthless in cracking down on these law-abiding citizens. If you’re in Colorado, a state with a successful Medical Marijuana program, and an upcoming Marijuana Election, you probably want the Federal Government out of your hair, whether you’re a patient or a provider. Jill just needs six donors to put her over the top in Colorado. It could be you.
Twenty-one states have or had Marijuana Propositions in motion in 2012. Missouri, for example, has Marijuana activity this year. It only takes fifteen of you in Missouri to put Jill Stein over the top. The Green Party is all over the world. The established media will not report on this. We are the media now. It is time for the United States to join the Green Revolution. Let’s stop letting our country act superstitiously!
Marijuana Voters Join Jill Stein Now: Green Revolution & Economic Conversion – This Week Only — by NormanB (“Deviations from the Norm”)
The Jill Stein for President campaign has less than one week to get enough donations to receive matching funds. To accomplish that, her campaign must raise at least $5,000 in at least 20 states. So far, she has done so in eleven. The first $250 from any donor counts toward the matching funds. Donors can give more if they choose. If she does get matching funds, that will mean an influx of more than $100,000 into the campaign at once. This is Marijuana’s last best chance this year. Last best chance for peace, too. And Human Rights. Go Jill Stein!
The 2012 US Presidential Election is shaping up to be a referendum on ending Marijuana Prohibition. It is reminiscent of the 1932 US Presidential Election, which took place during a series of Article V Constitutional Conventions to repeal Alcohol Prohibition. Prohibition didn’t work then, and it doesn’t work now. Then, the anti-Prohibition movement swept Franklin D. Roosevelt into office, even though both the Democrats and the Republicans were far-Right Parties opposed to Legalization. Just like now, the duopoly legacy Parties wanted Prohibition to continue. The people did not. The people won.
When I recently commented that I couldn’t vote for Elizabeth Warren for Massachusetts US Senator because she announced that she would defy the will of the state’s voters on Legalizing Marijuana, another commenter at FireDogLake.com rebuked me, contending that Marijuana is a minor peripheral issue. I disagree: Not only is it a major Human Rights issue and an essential medicine, it is intricately tied to all other political issues. I’ll explain how below.
In case you didn’t know, Jill Stein is the best candidate in the Presidential race on Marijuana. It’s time to stop beating around the bush and end Prohibition now. Legalize it. Under present law, before it can be prescribed or used legally, the President or the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) must order it removed from the Schedule 1 illegal drugs list, which purports that the drug has no medical use. Marijuana is on Schedule 1, even though its documented use as a medicine goes back thousands of years. Dr. Jill Stein, MD, is a Harvard-trained physician, and teaches medicine. She is an expert on the environmental impact of pollutants on people.
In ten states, citizens will be voting on Marijuana questions this year. Other states came close to getting such measures on their respective ballots – came close, but no cigar. Certainly in all those states, there are people who would enormously benefit from Jill Stein’s increased exposure in the campaign, should she get the matching funds. For instance, Marijuana is on the ballot in Oregon, and Jill Stein only needs four more donors to put Oregon over the $5,000 mark. Now, all four of you, I want you to forgo that next ounce, and give that $250 to Jill right now. Do it. Check the map to see if your state is voting on pot. (UPDATE: Oregon needs just 3 now.)
Eighteen states (including the District of Columbia) have Medical Marijuana according to law now, but the Federal Government under President Obama has been ruthless in cracking down on these law-abiding citizens. If you’re in Colorado, a state with a successful Medical Marijuana program, and an upcoming Marijuana Election, you probably want the Federal Government out of your hair, whether you’re a patient or a provider. She only needs nine more donors in Colorado. (UPDATE: Colorado needs just 8 now.)
Twenty-one states have or had Marijuana Propositions in motion in 2012. Missouri, for example, has Marijuana activity this year. It only takes fifteen of you in Missouri to put Jill Stein over the top. The Green Party is all over the world. The established media will not report on this. We are the media now. It is time for the United States to join the Green Revolution. Let’s stop letting our country act superstitiously!.
Loopholes: (1) In Florida, prescription Marijuana is already legal. Very few people get it. Elvy Musikka, a good friend of mine who has severe Glaucoma, is one of the few patients in this country getting it prescribed. Unfortunately, it is the worst pot you can imagine: The males and females aren’t separated; it’s harvested by lawnmower; if she gets a bud, it’s by accident; it’s warehoused for years so that by the time she gets it, she has to re-humidify it or it won’t even smoke. (2) In Ohio, if you possess less than 100 grams, you cannot even be ticketed. Nearly everyone in Ohio has under 100 grams. (3) Here in Massachusetts, if caught with Marijuana, the culprit doesn’t have to give the police his or her real name, and doesn’t have to pay the fine. Another Massachusetts Loophole: If the person caught with Marijuana is using it medicinally for Asthma, AIDS, or Cancer, then the charges must be dropped. (4) Alaska’s Supreme Court ruled Marijuana legal there. (~5) Wisconsin’s Constitution provides that possession of Marijuana on private property is not a crime unless and until someone files a complaint. (Wisconsin is not marked as a full Loophole on the map.)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Marijuana – Hemp, that is – has the highest biomass of any plant. What that means is that on any acre or hectare of land, more mass (weight) of Hemp can be grown than of any other plant. Hemp plants can be spaced one inch apart, such that, on one square mile of land, it is quite possible to grow over four billion (4,014,489,600) Hemp plants. Unmolested, they can average over one pound in weight, and produce more than one thousand seeds apiece. One cannot seriously approach the problem of stopping Global Warming without considering the only plant that can do the job – the one with the highest biomass.

That is something that makes Hemp important to our economy: It has the highest biomass, and a lot of it can be produced very fast. Some strains of Marijuana Hemp mature in 45 days. Some people tout switchgrass as a feedstock source for alternative fuel; but in the time it takes to harvest one three-year crop of switchgrass, twenty-four Hemp harvests as described above will ripen! (And Hemp has a much higher biomass than switchgrass, anyway.) In Colonial Virginia, Massachusetts, and Connecticut, citizens were required by law to grow Hemp. Europe had similar laws at the same time, and earlier.

All the gasoline- and diesel-powered vehicles in the world, and all of the power plants on Earth, can be powered by clean fuel. And the richest source by far of clean fuel is Hemp: Hemp seeds are the richest source of diesel fuel: Put under a seed press, they are 35% to 40% fuel oil by weight. Hemp is also the richest source of fuel for internal combustion engines, because, having the highest biomass, it is the richest source of ethanol, which can power such cars, today. Hemp buds are a very nutritious food, and a valuable medicine for many conditions.

When the US economy tanked at Election time 2008, that was the biggest one-day percentage drop in the Dow Jones average – not since the famous crash of Black Thursday in October 1929 – but since the crash of 1937-38, when thousands of products made from commercial Hemp were pulled from stores across the nation and around the world: Most clothing and other cloth in history was made from Hemp. Most paint products, most oils. All ropes and tents before then.

In 2010, Lund University in Sweden proved Jack Herer’s hypothesis that growing Hemp on 6% of our arable land can supply all of our US energy needs without causing any Global Warming. Applying the statistics I cited above, we get some interesting outlooks:

~If we began growing Hemp on 6% of our arable land today, the United States would be energy-independent before Election Day 2012, with our very first harvest, 45 days from now;

~Hemp could replace all of our current use of Gasoline, Diesel, Coal, Oil, and Nuclear Power with Clean Energy, in less than seven weeks;

~With this development, we will never need Pipelines, Fracking, Shale Oil, Offshore Drilling, Onshore Drilling, or Coal Mining, because Hemp energy is much cheaper;

~With plenty of Hemp growing, we will have no need to import fuel, plastic or plastic items, food, or building materials. This turn of events will convert our disastrous Trade Deficit into a Trade Surplus, because the amount we now spend on Petroleum is actually more than the entire Trade Deficit;

~New car-powering designs are not needed, because the old designs run fine on clean Hempen fuels;

~The only economically viable way to get enough Hydrogen for energy fuel would be to generate the Hydrogen through Hemp processes.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A person who cares about these issues may be a person who sees benefit in donating to Jill Stein’s campaign. What would also be helpful and valuable now would be to call people you know in the states where she’s getting close to the $5,000 goal, to encourage them to participate. Of course, the Stein campaign needs any amount. Small amounts are welcome, even if all you can afford is $0. Large amounts are welcome, up to $500, but only the first $250 apply to the matching funds. She actually needs to get donations in every state, to emphasize that this is a national campaign, and to expand the Party.
We are not kidding around. This IS the Green Revolution, the Revolution that we have been waiting for all of our lives. Green is where we must go. Now actually IS the time to take the power. Occupy. Get up. Stand up. Stand up for your rights. This is not a corporate candidacy. There are no big funders. This is grassroots. Get your friends together. Join the Green Party of the United States. Join the Green Party of the Earth. When you join, remember to say “Hemp.”
The Republicrats are bad Parties. Let’s have a good Party! We need a good Party! Let’s have a Sticky Green Party!
Assuming that each donor during this crucial final push for matching funds gives the maximum of $250 toward putting a state over the top, all Jill needs now is nine states, which can be reached through just four donors from Oregon, and/or five from New Mexico. And/or eight from any of the following: Michigan, Virginia, North Carolina, Ohio, or Colorado. It would take eleven from Connecticut, eleven-and-a-half from Arizona, twelve from Florida or Washington, DC. Fifteen for Tennessee or Missouri, sixteen for Maine, seventeen for South Carolina, Indiana, or Georgia. It takes no more than 20 donors in any state. In fact, the only seven states without significant Hemp/Marijuana electoral activity in 20123 are: Minnesota, Wyoming, Utah, Nebraska, Virginia, Louisiana, and Georgia. Jill Stein needs every state. Every state needs Jill Stein. A lot is at stake. Everything.
Madoff’s Stolen Ponzi Loot Funneled to Obama Campaign Through Daley
Madoff’s Stolen Ponzi Loot Funneled to Obama Campaign Through Daley — by NormanB (“Deviations from the Norm”)
Nearly $1 million of Bernard Madoff’s stolen Ponzi-scheme profits went to elect US President Barack Obama. JP Morgan Chase paid it directly to his campaign, and President Obama just appointed JPMC’s executive William Daley (of the infamous Daley Machine) to be his new White House Chief of Staff. Daley himself skated with $7.6 million in the Madoff swindle. Yep, he just made off with it. Morgan Chase made $1 billion. Hillary Clinton got some, but gave it back, and the President’s new “Competitiveness” nominee Jeffrey Imelt got plenty.
You can’t make this stuff up.
According to OpenSecrets, William Daley’s JP Morgan Chase gave $695,132 to the 2008 Obama Presidential campaign:
http://www.opensecrets.org/pres08/contrib.php?cycle=2008&cid=n00009638
Through recent revelations…
http://www.istockanalyst.com/article/viewarticle/articleid/4864051
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/02/04/madoff-jpmorgan-chase_n_818591.html
…I learned that despite the fact that Daley’s Morgan Chase knew Bernie Madoff was running a [$65 billion] Ponzi scheme, JPMC conspired to keep the crimes secret until after Obama’s November 2008 election (an apparent Obstruction of Justice), because JP Morgan Chase made at least $1 billion (that we know of) on the scheme. Morgan Chase spent much of that money promoting Obama.
Firedoglake’s masaccio was onto it when it happened:
http://firedoglake.com/2009/05/03/how-chase-bank-made-money-with-madoff/
No one stopped Madoff until December 2008, after Barack Obama was elected, albeit just a few weeks after.
On Daley’s appointment in January 2011, Huffington Post said “President Barack Obama’s next Chief of Staff holds more than $7.6 million worth of stock in JP Morgan Chase, according to a regulatory filing …William M. Daley, vice chairman at JP Morgan Chase, holds 175,678 shares in the $2.1 trillion behemoth, the nation’s second-largest bank by assets. Daley headed the firm’s Corporate Responsibility division, which included oversight of the firm’s lobbyists and relations with government officials.”
This means that Daley still has Ponzi loot: His $7.6 million, out of JPMC’s $1 billion, out of Madoff’s $65 billion.
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2011/01/10/william-daley-jp-morgan-stock_n_807161.html
But the Obama Administration’s dirty dealings with Madoff don’t end there, not by a long shot! Madoff gave $50,000 to Hillary Clinton’s campaign and at least $600,000 to lobbyists:
“Madoff Investment Securities made campaign contributions totaling $372,100, with about 89 percent of those funds directed to Democrats, according to OpenSecrets.org, the Web site of the Center for Responsive Politics.” (That’s how PoliticalTicker put it, but the OpenSecrets headline says Madoff spent $1 million.)
http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2008/12/17/madoff-was-major-democratic-campaign-contributor/
Much of that political campaign money went for and continues to go for buying ads on NBC and MSNBC, the head honcho of which is GE Chairman Jeffrey Imelt, whom President Obama just appointed to head his new White House Council on Jobs and Competitiveness. Competitiveness?! According to Forbes, GE is the world’s second-largest company, after JP Morgan Chase. In the Obama Administration, we see Conflict of Interest running off the scale, but Imelt’s MSNBC just keeps MSNBC-ing it.
MSNBC-ing” is the type of propaganda that tries to make it look like the Obama gang of crooks is on our side, our good guys, looking out for our interests. It’s as if, like the Egyptian propaganda claiming that Mubarak’s Suleiman goon squad is needed to hold back the evil Muslims, the White House wants us to think that our crooks are the only possible heroes who can save us from the bad Republican Cheney TeaBag Beck.
So, not only did MSNBC (in a partisan move) refuse to air Michele Bachmann’s alternative State of the Union response (as it had aired Senator Obama’s alternative State of the Union response in 2006), Chris Matthews (apparently trying to out-juvenile the newly removed Keith Olbermann) called Ms. Bachmann a “Balloon Head!” and told her “Go back to grammar school!”
At the exact same time that the President tapped Imelt to “oversee” “competitiveness” (or overlook the lack thereof), Imelt’s firm dumped Olbermann, and at the same time Comcast announced its working relationship with MSNBC (further limiting competition, but making profit for the Administration’s cronies) … as Rayne pointed out:
http://my.firedoglake.com/rayne/2011/01/23/its-not-a-sale-or-a-merger-but-a-joint-venture-comcast-and-ge-will-share-corporatist-mouthpiece-nbc/
Speaking of Conflict of Interest: Both GE and Morgan Chase are heavily involved in the Nuclear industry and the Wind industry, two of the dirtiest forms of energy generation. When Rachel Maddow’s MSNBC show comes on, a Wind Farm masquerading as Clean Energy steps up to fight for GE/JPMC energy profit, and supposedly against the bad Republican Cheney TeaBag Beck. The President frequently lies about both Wind and Nuclear being “Clean.” He claims that both are free of Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions, and that they therefore help fight Global Warming. This is completely false.
For details on the emissions, use the fdl search window and search “normanb ghg nuclear wind.” Wind energy causes massive emissions of the worst GHG known, Sulfur Hexafluoride, or “Air Jordan.” One pound of SF6 warms our planet more than 17 tons of Carbon Dioxide (CO2); and 20 million pounds of it are made every year. The so-called “Smart Grid” is stupid, but, hey, it makes money for the President’s men.
Nuclear Energy causes massive emissions of Nitrous Oxide, which is 310 times as bad as CO2. Yet President Obama had the EPA reclassify it officially as “Clean Energy,” just as he did for “Clean” Coal. President Obama even appeared on a TV commercial for Clean Coal, just weeks after taking office, just days after the Coen Brothers had released a widely circulated commercial reminding us all that Clean Coal doesn’t exist.
Athough lying about climate and energy causes disease epidemics, insect infestations, and environmental devastation, even so, President Obama still doesn’t mind lying about climate and energy when it profits his allies. Just ask BP:
http://my.firedoglake.com/normanb/2011/02/02/new-orleans-judge-rules-that-obama-ken-feinberg-bp-lied-about-kfs-neutrality-orders-kf-bp-to-stop-lying/
So, who’s keeping score here? Madoff stole $65 billion –> then, with Obama in the White House, and with his appointees in charge of regulating things, less than $10 billion got paid back to the poor set-up victims of the famous Madoff-Morgan Chase-Daley-Obama-Imelt Ponzi Scheme.
Where’s the rest of the stolen money? Well, President Obama’s sitting on $695,132 of it; or he was before spending it on Imelt’s and other networks’ commercials for the 2008 campaign. Secretary of State Clinton (who posed as an opposing candidate during the campaign) got $50,000; Chief of Staff William Daley has $7.6 million; his company JCMC, the President’s 6th-highest contributor, got $1 billion. I’ll bet others on the President’s top contributors list Made Off with some too! (i.e. GE, who gave half a million dollars!)
Madoff’s family officially got to keep $2.5 million of the stolen funds, but I suspect more of that money is still somewhere corrupting our political system. And Madoff’s son conveniently got dead a few weeks ago, conveniently partially covering up the White House connection. And somehow those “investigating” the killing quickly called it “suicide.” Never mind who’s behind the curtain. No reason to investigate this.
Oh, and let’s remember that JP Morgan Chase didn’t hire Daley because he’s a famous banker; he’s not. They hired him for the Organized Crime connection: They hired him to pull strings for them politically. And they sure got what they paid for: A billion dollars in stolen funds, out of which they only had to give the Obama cartel a few million. A body or two along the way. Banker plus Gangster equals Bankster.
“Madoff founded the Wall Street firm Bernard L. Madoff Investment Securities LLC in 1960, and was its chairman until his arrest on December 11, 2008 … JP Morgan Chase & Co. may have also benefited from the scheme – through interest and fees charged – to the tune of a billion dollars.”
http://money.cnn.com/2009/04/24/news/newsmakers/madoff.fortune/index.htm
Along with the family of one of President Obama’s major financial appointees (Mary Schapiro, whom President Obama appointed to head the Securities and Exchange Commission), Bernie Madoff started the NASDAQ Stock Exchange in 1971 as National Association of Securities Dealers (NASD). Madoff was its President and Chairman. The economy collapsed and the President of the Stock Exchange made off with $65 billion at the same time, and at the same time, more than $1 billion were being funneled to the cronies of and the Presidential campaign of the winning candidate, Barack Obama, who had just appointed Madoff’s partner’s kid:
http://blogs.wsj.com/washwire/2008/12/17/sec-nominee-has-madoff-connection/
“Two years after Madoff’s $65 billion fraud was revealed, its victims are trying to move on. It was good news indeed to hear over the holidays that Irving Picard, the trustee hired by the Securities Investor Protection Corp., or SIPC, has recovered $9.8 billion so far – much more than some had expected. Yet many of Madoff’s neediest victims might never benefit from Picard’s settlements, and in fact some are being sued to give back gains from the sceme, funds already spent on retirement or taxes.”
http://www.businessweek.com/investor/content/jan2011/pi20110111_367252.htm
February 10, 2009, a few days after taking office, President Obama said “There are a lot of banks that are actually pretty well-managed – JP Morgan being a good example … I don’t think [CEO Jamie Dimon] should be punished for dong a pretty good job managing an enormous portfolio.”
http://www.fool.com/investing/dividends-income/2009/02/11/obama-endorses-jpmorgan.aspx
Well, Madoff’s victims have only been compensated 15% of what they lost. Immediately after JPMC gave $7 hundred thousand to Obama, and Madoff gave $1 billion to JPMC, all to help to get BO elected, then President-elect Obama, when the Madoff Ponzi news broke, said “In the last few days, the alleged scandal at Madoff Investment Securities has reminded us yet again of how badly reform is needed when it comes to the rules and regulations that govern our markets…
“…Charities that invested in Madoff could end up losing savings on which millions depend – a massive fraud that was made possible in part because the regulators who were assigned to oversee Wall Street dropped the ball. And if the financial crisis has taught us anything, it’s that this failure of oversight and accountability doesn’t just harm individuals involved; it has the potential to devastate our entire economy.”
http://firstread.msnbc.msn.com/_news/2008/12/18/4423447-obama-on-madoff-scandal-rick-warren
Indeed, Mr. President indeed. Give the money back to the destitute widows and orphans that your gang helped to steal it from. Order Daley and Imelt to give back theirs too. If memory serves, Hillary Clinton has already returned the Madoff contribution, but what about that $6 hundred thousand to the lobbyists? And after you give it back, come clean: Tell the truth about what you know about the crimes, and make Daley and Imelt do the same.
So, the profits from the biggest theft that ever happened helped elect our current President. GE is pouring even more into lobbying since the 2008 elections. The co-conspirators in this story, General Electric, Morgan Chase, and Madoff, together poured more than $1 billion into campaigns and political lobbying over the past few years, and lots of it went right back to GE and Imelt through purchase of airtime on MSNBC. And our President is in cahoots with these thieves. You just can’t make this stuff up.
And you Democrats out there, in the Congress, and in the blogosphere and other media: Don’t you now have a responsibility to do something about this? Go ahead: Do what Democrats do.
The Daily Machine: Introducing the Sticky Greens; They’re Good For You — by NormanB (“Deviations from the Norm”)
Announcing a new Green Party Caucus identity group working to Legalize Marijuana & end discrimination against its users, to promote the economic and environmental benefits of Cannabis Hemp, and to convince the Green Party of the United States to fully embrace and promote these priciples.
Today I renounce my lifelong membership in the Democratic Party, recognizing that what has been my Party increasingly panders to corporate elitists and, in serving as shill to those donors, works against the principles I hold dear. How much money would I need in order to have enough to bribe the Party leaders to turn honest? And even that wouldn’t work, because I don’t want Party leadership that responds so disgracefully to money. What I want politically is peace, freedom, human rights, economic justice, environmental protection, and honesty & accountability in Government. With the move I make today I hope to further these goals.
Here we stand at the precipice: Albert Camus’ existential dilemma as described in The Myth of Sisyphus: The most important philosophical question is Should I commit suicide? because, if the answer is Yes, then the other questions are irrelevant. Ignorance on climate issues is such a valued commodity that the US has advanced in this important field to Number One in the world. In many African countries and island nations, 90% of the populace knows how we get Global Warming. In the US, more than 100,000,000 people doubt the science. That confusion helps fossil fuel and chemical companies profiteer off pollution and market extinctions that will include our own, if we don’t stop climate change. The current Administration ignores the climate emergency: After promising responsible conscientious environmental stewardship, it has instead allowed increased emissions of every Greenhouse Gas, and has had its Environmental Protection Agency officially lie about Coal and Nuclear Power, reclassifying them as “Clean Energy.” President Obama this week endorsed corporate-sponsored superstition over science: He declared that he intends to fight Global Warming without limiting any Greenhouse Gases. But the fact is: Greenhouse Gases cause Global Warming: By increasing emissions of every Greenhouse Gas, we Cause Global Warming, not Fight it.
Sunday I attended the Massachusetts Green-Rainbow Party (GRP) Convention in Worcester. Because I was not a member of the Green Party, my name placard wasn’t colored green. GRP 2010 Gubernatorial nominee Jill Stein, co-chair of the state Party, asked me what she could do to change my placard to green. I do very much agree with Dr. Stein and Green Party concensus on issues. And during her campaign she spoke thoughtfully and forcefully about Legalization. Much more than other political candidates, she favors protecting my civil rights, as a medical user, as a religious user, and as a recreational user. In our informal group from Western Mass’s Pioneer Valley, I saw tireless hard-working dedicated activists in it for the long haul, committed to improving our country and our planet. I have long respected the work of a majority of individuals in the circle. These Are My People. I do belong.
100,000,000 US citizens have smoked Marijuana. The Democratic and Republican Parties do not want our votes. The Greens and Libertarians do want them, but no Party is doing what it takes to get them. Our campaign for Legalizing Marijuana carried 75% of the vote in Amherst, 65% statewide. Gubernatorial candidate Jill Stein only got 1.43% statewide. Both the Democratic and Republican Parties in Massachusetts are shedding members: Independents now outnumber both Parties in the state. 70% of people nationwide have said they don’t trust Democrats and 80% don’t trust Republicans. If only those two-thirds of Massachusetts citizens demanding Marijuana reform saw the Greens as allies, we’d control elections in this state. But people in the Marijuana/Cannabis/Hemp movement largely see the Greens as irrelevant, and are unaware of that plank in the Party’s official platform calling for Legalization of Medical Marijuana and protection of its patients.
Now, we the Green Party, stand at the precipice. Should we commit suicide? The Hemp movement is our natural constituency and its voters make up two-thirds of the state’s electorate. Most of us in the Hemp movement see the Greens as not caring about our rights or the rights of patients suffering and dying from lack of access to medicine. Greens are also seen as lacking important knowledge on the economic and environmental realities surrounding Cannabis Hemp, and in some cases are perceived as lacking working knowledge of Global Warming science needed to talk to certain voters. The Sticky Greens hope to correct these problems, by including on our homepage primers on the science, economics, and bigotry encountered by Hempsters.
At the Convention, our local Greens generated a list of concerns we can work on together locally that were cited in our circle. I made the first suggestion on the list, Legalilzing Marijuana. When emailed copies of the list of concerns arrived, I saw that Marijuana is included, at the end, separated from everything else, looking like an afterthought. This is the prescription for our Party’s extinction. The 20 items on the list above Marijuana all added together can get us 1.43% of the vote. Marijuana gets us 65% statewide and in Boston, 75% in Amherst, 82% nextdoor in Pelham, and 80% in nearby Wendell. I urge Pioneer Valley Greens, the entire Mass GRP, and Greens across the country to learn the language of Hemp activism immediately. And I urge the Green Party of the United States Accreditation Committee to quickly approve and accept our Caucus, as soon as we meet the requirements. We have a spectacular opportunity.
Shortly I’ll go downtown to re-register to vote, this time as a member of the Green-Rainbow Party. I’m posting these ideas to my firedoglake.com Diary blog The Daily Machine, and to MaMaMoJo, which is my partner Rachel Neulander’s non-commercial Massachusetts Marijuana Movement Journal. Beginning today, MaMaMoJournal’s left column is the Sticky Greens homepage. It will include political, historical, and scientific information about Cannabis and its integral relation to energy, climate, food production, health, human rights, and honesty in politics and business. We’ll note its relationship to LGBTIQ issues and racism. Most importantly, we’ll show how science can stop and reverse Global Warming using existing technology, and do it in time if we start right away.
I’m also sending it to our local Greens circle, to Jill Stein and her campaign staff with whom I worked, and to the Accreditation Committee of the Green Party of the United States. The Sticky Greens will quickly become an official local Green-Rainbow Party group when three of us agree to form it. To get Accreditted as a Green Caucus, better able to affect national Party policy, we’ll need 100 members spread throughout 15 states. Reaching 100 members seems easier than reaching 15 states. I have been a political activist fulltime without pay for decades, having consciously decided in 1978 to dedicate my life to the unending push for human rights, environmental integrity, economic equality, art, and culture. In the early 1990s I toured the country with the Cannabis Action Network at early Hemp Rallies on the early Hemp Tours. In that function I performed and spoke at rallies in 20 or more states, and at 30 or more colleges. Coming off tour, still in the early 1990s, I founded SPACE: The St. Petersburg [Florida] Alliance for Cannabis Emancipation. Two years and five Hemp Rallies later, we disbanded the group having achieved our objective: Educating the press and public on the issue: By our fifth Rally, both our local middle-of-the-road newspapers (the St. Petersburg Times & Tampa Tribune) published editorials favoring complete Legalization. That was in a Republican-majority city in conservative Florida. One of my fellow activists in the Massachusetts Hemp movement, John Leonard, did a study recently showing how Hemp voters can be influenced to vote for issues and Parties they knew little about.  We saw how it worked at our state convention, where Katelyn Golsby was the first speaker of the Party’s Campus Leaders. I had met Katelyn and her friend Eric Cameron at the local busstop and invited them to the Rock Opera I wrote and was soon to perform at the University of Massachusetts in an event sponsored by the Cannabis Reform Coalition there. Jill Stein spoke to begin the event, then took questions. Katelyn and Eric left carrying Jill Stein campaign signs. The Rock Opera was the most attended Jill Stein event of the entire autumn campaign. And as one student activist pointed out, we’d have had ten times as many attendees if we’d had two weeks to promote it.
Some other time I’ll discuss why the column is called “The Daily Machine.”
Breakthrough Swedish Hemp Energy Farming Study Corroborates Hemp Emperor Herer
from today’s edition of MaMaMoJo — the Massachusetts Marijuana Movement Journal:
Hemp Energy Farming Breakthrough Study –Corroborates Jack Herer’s Assertions
by Norman B (“Deviations from the Norm”)
Hot off the lab table: Five scientists working at Lund University in Sweden on October 31, 2010, published online their findings about the potential of Hemp as an energy crop. The findings support activist Jack Herer’s teachings, that through growing Hemp on a percentage of our available land, our society can switch to completely clean fuel that causes no Global Warming.
Emma Kreuger and Lovisa Bjornsson of the Lund U. Dept. of Biotechnology, the Budapest University of Technology & Economics Dept. of Applied Biotechnology & Food Science’s Balint Sipos and Guido Zacchi (both with the LU Dept. of Chemical Engineering), and Sven-Erik Svensson of the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences, Dept. of Agriculture — Farming Systems, Technology & Product Quality in Alnarp completed the research just days ago, showing that every ten square kilometers (about 2.5 acres) of cultivated great Hemp yields about 3,000 liters (about 800 gallons) of Ethanol AND 3,000 cubic meters of Methane. Both Ethanol and Methane burn cleanly, causing no Global Warming. Methane left in the atmosphere, however, is a Greenhouse Gas many times as bad as Carbon Dioxide.
Jack famously guaranteed that devoting 6% of continental US land to growing Hemp could replace all our country’s energy usage. This study supports Jack Herer’s research. Links to a synopsis of the study, and to Jack Herer’s energy-and-climate research overview page follow below. Jack passed away a few months ago, and so is not here with us today to enjoy the triumph in new hope for our planet, but he knew it would come, if we activists pushed hard enough. Clean energy for all of Earth and an end to Global Warming are now within our grasp. We must keep pushing, and we must pause to assess and celebrate our progress.
Why I Signed Pres. Obama’s Climate and Energy Petition Today; and What Might Be Wrong With It
Why I Signed Pres. Obama’s Climate and Energy Petition Today; and What Might Be Wrong With It — by NormanB ("Deviations from the Norm")
Because of my support for Barack Obama in the 2008 Presidential Election, I sometimes get emails from his campaigns. This one came from Mitch Stewart’s office at barackobama.com. It is an honorable Petition.
The Petition is not the speech. The speech stayed away from Global Warming, or "Climate Change" (the Newspeak-connotationed word that’s in vogue and helps people ignore GL0Warm, the real problem). PBS Pundits after the speech insisted the American people don’t want to hear about Global Warming anymore. Maybe the US wants to just let that bubble run till it bursts, like Oil-drilling, banking, the still festering medical debacle, Coward Droning and nuclear safety. It was a pathetic speech.
The Petition is not the bill. The new climate & energy bill is a disgraceful sell-out to the worst pro-Global Warming technology, taking advantage of well-publicized superstitions of Americans, by far the most ignorant and ill-informed people on the planet on the subject of GL0Warm. I’ve written about that bill here before and I won’t repeat it now because it strays from the point. (Just remember this: Solar Panels, Wind Farms, and Nuclear Power Plants require emissions of the worst Greenhouse Gases; and electric cars just ignore the problem. The bill is a giant give-away to chemical companies and fossil fuels.)
The Petition is not the graphics. Both President Obama and Rachel Maddow (on Bill Maher’s last Real Time of the season) used the crisis in the Gulf to push for more Wind Energy, and the President’s petition shows, very faintly, Solar Panels and a Wind Farm. Maddow’s employer, GE-NBC, is invested in Wind Farms. But the world’s biggest marketer of Wind Farms is the Danish company Vestas, also the world’s biggest marketer of the worst Greenhouse Gas: "Air Jordan" or Sulfur Hexafluoride (SF6). It is used as a dielectric medium, insulating ultra-high-voltage switchgear (transformers and circuit breakers). According to the EPA, one quarter of it (four million pounds) of SF6 is carelessly leaked into our atmosphere every year. And that’s about to get exponentially worse. The truth is: The so-called "Smart Grid" is Stupid!
The Petition, instead, reaches for a far greater ideal. I hope the President’s forces don’t misrepresent my signature on this simple petition as favoring their maniacal schemes. Four specific Obama Administration superstitious maniacal climate schemes I hereby stipulate that I do not support:
1. Clean Coal (because it doesn’t exist, and can’t);
2. More Oil-drilling;
3. More Nuclear power on the dishonest premise that it is "clean" or "green;"
4. This horrible bill, that causes more GL0Warm and lines the pockets of the worst climate villains on the planet. (The Republican proposal is worse.)
Here is the simple idealistic Petition from President Obama which I signed:
I stand with President Obama to pave the way for a clean-energy future that:
• Combats climate change;
• Creates a new economy powered by green jobs; and
• Ends our dependence on foreign oil.
That’s all. It is worthy of everyone’s support. Ignore the graphics and sign the Petition. Let’s go forward, not back. The only other words on the Petition page are:
"The next generation will not be held hostage to energy sources from the last century. The American people are ready for clean energy. Add your name as a strong supporter of comprehensive energy and climate reform. It’s time, once and for all, for our nation to fully embrace a clean energy future"
Here’s the link to sign the Petition if you so choose, followed by links to other reviews of the climate and energy bill I wrote as Seminal Diaries here on Firedoglake.
President Obama’s Abysmal Record on Climate & Energy: Part 1
12:17 am in Uncategorized by normanb
President Obama’s Abysmal Record on Climate & Energy: Part 1
(If we count the "Freon Complex" as one, then …) Just 7 Greenhouse Gases create our Global Warming Emergency. Here’s what the President says about each of them. — by NormanB ("Deviations from the Norm")
When he was an Illinois State Legislator, Barack Obama voted to condemn the Kyoto accords for their strictness. Conversely, most critics say those accords were too timid and lax.
The 7 GHGs are: Freon, Steam, Fart, Smog, Laughing Gas, Dry Ice, Air Jordan.
The relative strength of each Greenhouse Gas is stated as its Global Warming Potential (GWP). Below are the GHGs, listed from the weakest to the strongest, and the President’s take on each. Two of the 7 can’t be rated on the GWP scale, but Pres. Obama has set no policy on those two, as far as I know; they are Ozone (Smog) and Water Vapor. The latter is actually the most active gas in warming the Earth, but the only way to take it out is to stop emitting the others and resequester the CO2. (To reduce the Smog, we need to stop burning Fossil Fuels and stop emitting so much Methane.)
- – - Carbon Dioxide (CO2) "Dry Ice" GWP=1
Its proliferation is from burning the Fossil Fuels: Coal and Petroleum products.
–Coal: Just after taking office, President Obama appeared on a Coal company commercial singing the praises of "Clean Coal," a product that doesn’t exist. Despite posing as if he were trying to stop Mountaintop Removal, he’s not. He’s allowing the companies doing it to keep doing it. 31 Coal Miners were killed in two Mines in the past few weeks, thanks to the Obama Administration’s cavalier attitude and lax safety standards.
–Oil: Barack Obama: "Oil rigs today generally don’t cause spills. They are technologically very advanced." Eleven Oil workers on that platform were killed thanks to the Obama Administration’s cavalier attitude and lax safety standards.
–Oil Byproducts (including Propane and Natural Gas): "We need a diverse energy policy" has been Pres. Obama’s mantra. It’s a slogan from a gasoline commercial. It’s also a lie. We’re in a Global Warming Emergency. We need to use Energy sources that don’t cause Global Warming. "Diverse" means buying Oil or Coal (mostly owned by Oil giants) or Propane (from Oil companies) or Natural Gas (from Oil Companies). "Diverse" also means "Nuclear," and we obviously can’t trust the Obama Administration’s cavalier attitude and lax safety standards there. Don’t let that sleazy slacker Salazar get a hold of the nuke plants, or he’ll turn our whole atmosphere into the Gulf of Mexico!
–BP keeps denying responsibility. Obama waited more than a week before declaring it an emergency, trusting BP to take care of it.
They are injecting a very destructive chemical dispersant, the toxic components which the Obama Administration is keeping secret from the people whom it may kill or maim, and from their doctors. Louisiana claims the 13 dead sea turtles on the shore had nothing to do with the oil. (I guess the dispersant killed them.) Obama has pledged to keep on drilling, but not to start any new drilling for several days.
- – - Methane (CH4) "Fart" GWP=62
Its proliferation is from unsanitary treatment of feces & garbage, and from Coal Mining and Oil Drilling, and from Dams.
One cattle farm in Vermont harnesses its Methane emissions, and the Clean Energy from burning that Methane causes no Global Warming, because the only Carbon it contains was recently absorbed from the air, making it Carbon Neutral. That one farm powers all its vehicles and supplies all its own electricity with that Methane. It also supplies all the electricity and powers all the vehicles at the nearby college. It also supplies all of the electricity for the entire county. There are only 3,000 counties in the United States. There are 7,000 farms. The Obama Administration takes no interest in Methane, except to Drill Baby Drill!
- – - Nitrous Oxide (N2O) "Laughing Gas" GWP=310
Its proliferation is from Nuclear Energy, manufacture of Nylon & other synthetic fibers, and from chemical fertilizers.
President Obama has been repeating the Big Lie over and over on this one lately, again from an energy company commercial. He’s been falsely claiming that Nuclear Energy doesn’t cause Global Warming, and promoting his new plan to open a chain of hundreds of Sleazy Salazar’s Discount Nuke Plants, cavalier attitude included!
(To produce Nuclear Energy, Uranium and Plutonium are dissolved in Nitric Acid, and producing Nitric Acid is one of the principle emitters of Nitrous Oxide.) (Nitrous Oxide dragsters, dentists’ offices, whipped cream cans, and recreational users of N2O, all added together, account for less than 1% of Nitrous Oxide emissions.)
- – - Nitrogen Trifluoride (NF3) "Solar Freon" GWP=17,900
The fastest-increasing GHG in our atmosphere, its emissions come from manufacturing Solar Panels, and similar electronics. It stays in the air over 700 years.
Though the Mainstream Press and the Activist Press and even the Environmental Press ignore it, the Chemical Industry Press is quite open about this menace, reporting on chemists around the world working desperately to find a clean replacement. Finally someone did, according to the trade journals: A Finnish national company announced last summer that it had discovered a way to etch the Solar Panels without using NF3. Within weeks of that announcement, the Obama Administration countered: The US will open its first NF3 plant, in North Carolina, a gift to President’s contributors at Duke Energy, Bank of America, and DuPont (who invented NF3 and Freon). The President’s message was hidden behind a smile, but his attitude was clear: ‘You’re NOT bringing any Clean Energy in here, to threaten my relationship with Duke, DuPont and the BOA constrictor!’ So, now, nobody makes the clean replacement, but DuPont and others produce over 20,000 tons of NF3 annually, equivalent to 4 hundred million tons of CO2! And that number is increasing exponentially.
- – - Sulfur Hexafluoride (SF6) "Air Jordan" GWP=34,500
The worst GHG known. Its proliferation is from Wind Farms and the "Smart Grid." It stays in the air over 3,000 years. Vestas, the world’s biggest supplier of Wind Farms, is also the world’s biggest supplier of SF6. This gas’s byproducts include deadly chemical weapons and some of the worst GHGs known, one of them is the GHG increasing second-fastest in our atmosphere. Now, they’re opening Cape Wind. New mantra: Wind & Solar, Wind & Solar, Wind & Solar. Chemical companies may not be on our side. Solar Panels can be etched with SF6 or NF3 or Freon, all of which cause terrible Global Warming. Wind Farms and the "Stupid Grid" could theoretically use a different insulating dielectric medium, but they don’t. So, unless and until these procedures change, remember: THE SMART GRID IS STUPID!
By now you may be saying: If burning Fossil Fuels is very, very bad, and Hydroelectric and Nuclear and Solar and Wind are a lot worse, then, shouldn’t we just give up? No. Geothermal Energy causes no Global Warming. Neither do biofuels. But now only Monsanto’s corn and soy, and other destructive mono-crops and diverted food crops are used to make biofuels, giving them a bad name. And in fact, all of the plants now used for fuel are so inefficient that using them makes no sense. Only the plants with the highest biomass can reasonably be used: Hemp and Hops, each of which can grow 4 million stalks per acre – more than half a billion per square mile! Hemp and Hops are planted 100 stalks to the square foot when grown commercially. Corn doesn’t usually even have one per square foot. And don’t forget about biogas from the animal farms. Clean Energy is abundant and easy. But we would need a much more honest President to get it.
President Obama recently said he wanted American students to to get better at Science, but that can’t be true: If people knew even a little more about science, they wouldn’t believe his Climate and Energy lies.
(A word about determining Global Warming Potentials: Companies marketing Greenhouse Gases and products which emit the above Gases have devised measuring regimens which divide numbers in different ways to obtain several different GWPs for each gas, such that, if you look at it on a 20-year time line it appears to have a different strength than if you check it on a 100- or a 500-year time line. My policy is to use the highest figure, the one that actually shows the gas’s strength as compared to CO2, not the one that was created for promotional purposes.)
Look at the History. Look at the Constitution. Look at the Oil: The Filibuster Scam
5:58 am in Uncategorized by normanb
Look at the History. Look at the Constitution. Look at the Oil: The Filibuster Scam … by Norman B ("Deviations from the Norm")
The Senate’s Filibuster Rule is not in the Constitution: It was Changed Twice by an Oilman that Nobody Voted for. Who can Change it Now? The Answer is Shocking.
It’s as simple as this: The Vice President of the United States is also the President of the Senate. Our current Vice President said that he doesn’t want the Republicans to use the Filibuster the way they are using it. He said that just weeks ago, but it isn’t true. If it were, he would already have changed the rule, as his predecessors did before him.
Let’s look at an extreme example: Republican Oil billionaire Nelson Rockefeller was officially Vice President of the US for two years in the 1970s.
He became Republican Gerald Ford’s Vice President when their fellow Republican Richard Nixon resigned the Presidency after evidence proved Nixon could go to Federal prison (unless someone pardoned him). Ford had been appointed VP after Republican Vice President Spiro Agnew resigned because evidence showed him eligible for prison. Felons or not, Nixon and Agnew had been elected. Nobody voted for Ford. Nobody voted for Rockefeller.
But the people did vote for Democrat Joe Biden; and as Vice President he holds the exact same power to change the Filibuster Rule that Rockefeller did. Here’s how Nelson Rockefeller used that power: First he ruled that Democrats were not allowed to Filibuser any of Ford’s nominees. Then, days before leaving office, he changed it again, this time ruling that the Republicans WOULD be allowed to Filibuster President-elect Jimmy Carter’s up-coming nominees. This Filibuster effect helped cripple Carter’s Presidency.
The Filibuster Rule is completely unjust and undemocratic, especially when used to condone a system wherein Republicans only need 50 votes plus Vice Presidential Oilman Dick Cheney to make up a majority, but Democrats need 60.
Where this logic leads is troubling: Joe Biden isn’t the only one being dishonest about the Filibuster. So is President Obama. So are ALL the Democrats in the Senate. So are all the Republicans in the Senate. And all the Independents in the Senate, too. Shame on them all.
Who profits from this scam? Of course, this fraud profits Obama-Biden and the 100 Senators, in campaign spending from oil companies, who apparently consider our elected representatives their lackeys. So BP got to help write the oil safety regulations. And the drug and insurance profiteers got to write the health care legislation. And the six too-big-to-fail banks are writing the financial "regulations." (But as University of Massachusetts Economics Professor Emeritus Richard Wolff points out: Regulations can’t stop these guys – they got around them before, and they’ll get around them again. They can pick the legislators, and make them dance.)
Who loses in this scam? Everyone who voted loses. But bigger than that, with the world’s worst polluters now writing our climate and energy laws, the biggest loser is Earth.
