   “Thirty to $35,000, believe it or not, is actually cheap,” said Dubik, who has overseen portrait commissions for several of the Commerce Department’s 34 past secretaries. “Most of the artists out there, if you look at some of them and what their charges are, it’s basically anywhere from $50,000 to $75,000.”

   By comparison, the $25,000 that NASA paid for a portrait of former administrator Daniel S. Goldin and the $29,500 that the Environmental Protection Agency spent for one of the outgoing administrator, Stephen L. Johnson, look like bargains.

   From the link, it appears that the 911 operator was so miffed they called his phone. He then had the gall to call back:
   But that wasn’t all. McCain apparently called 911 again, to complain about the message the operator just left him, warning him such use of 911 is criminal.

   Appears to be Joe McCain: Somebody gave me this riot act about the violation of police.

   Operator: Did you just call 911 in reference to this?

   Appears to be Joe McCain: Yeah.

   Operator: 911 is to be used for emergencies only not just because you’re sitting in traffic.

   What a maroon!

    I’m going to put my points on the slim bucket who critized Obama taking his campaign plane to Hawaii to visit his ill grandmother…..

    1. to fly to Hawaii you need a 757 or larger to have enough fuel to make it….. so can’t take a smaller plane…
    2. Security ….. how many seats would have to be cleared and the security of all the passengers for Obama to fly commercially?
    3. In taking his campaign plane……. campaign staff can go along and keep the campaign working with Obama between visits…… AND the big one…
    4. If allows bringing Grandma back to ILL to be closer to family if needed…..

    But it is more important to slam Obama for going to his gravely ill grandmother…..

    OT, but if Bloomberg runs for mayor of NY again, which he apparently plans to do now that they’ve suspended the term limits to enable his plans, what party’s ticket will he run on? He quit being a Rethug some time back didn’t he? But he didn’t go back to being a Dem, did he? So does that mean he’ll run as an Independent this time?
