How you know your campaign is going down the tubes. Fred Barnes:
The person who went and bought hte clothes and, as I understand it put the clothes on her credit card, went to Saks and Neiman Marcus…the staffer who did that has been a coward," he said, for failing to take responsibility for the distraction, and alllowing Palin to take the hit.
He then said was talking about McCain advisor Nicolle Wallace, who has been a focus of Palin’s admirers’ ire.
Wallace fired back in an email to me that Barnes is "incorrect" that she charged the clothes to her card, and "incorrect that I went to any stores.

Sarah is taking McCain down and she could care less.
No she does not. Just setting up her 2012 campaign.
If Kristol, Rove, Frum think she can take it in 2012 they are delusional. Put someone up there with substance. Palin just does not have the intellect and the public has had it with these types.
Or as Atrios would put it, “Repugs are eated”.
Fred Barnes was, along with Bill Kristol, among the right-wing cruise-goers who fell in love with Sarah Palin in summer 2007. She hosted them all — several batches of the deep thinkers — at the governor’s mansion. They were all impressed, and are very protective of her. They essentially invented Sarah Palin. I’m sure they are enraged that her image, the image they invented, has been tarnished by DeeCee consultants who bought her expensive wardrobe.
Except Wallace’s credit card wasn’t used — it was the credit card of the fellow who rents Norm Coleman’s Capitol Hill apartment to him below market rates, and pays his utility bill there. So why are they blaming the odious Nicole Wallace? Is there a reason to protect Jeff Larson? Is it because his relationship with Norm Coleman is other than what it seems?
You forgot about the empty suit he bought for Norm. Or was that the empty suit Norm he bought? I get confused here in Minnesota.
