We are in a period of letting things go as they are for awhile. Its always the conservative fall back position, they can afford to do it. Lets just let things sort themselves out, and see what happens. How much underclass suffering will be electorally tolerable, for how long, is the question only time will tell. But in the meantime lets look at reinforcing our position by voter suppression, appealing to values voters, gin up some fear, etc., to see how long those methods can hold off this rising tide of colored ballots.
We’ve kinda run out of the really fearful wars, so we have to make due, to sustain the profits of our beloved MIC, with regional flareups and to keep the oil flowing sufficiently to feed our SUVs. All is well in the fear cauldron of the Middle east.
So all the 1% have left to discuss, is what tomorrow’s standard of living will look like to the lower classes, and what steps to take to minimize their electoral impact. It may appear Kabuki but its purposefully orchestrated by folks with 40 years of practice.
They let Occupy blow off some steam, but it will not be allowed to exist long enough to absorb the common man’s hope model of self actualization, at least not to the degree he will become involved. Occupy will remain a fad of those sinister “liberals” that he is taught is the real problem, and has nothing to do with him, as they offer nothing tangible to his self esteem, except to amplify his disgust for those “lazy” folks,….. “But they do bitch about those damned bankers and I agree with them on that,” the common man may think for a moment, and as quickly forget.
Dems should be all over these bankers, like stink on a skunk; but this over whelming sledge hammer of an issue can not be discussed by the privileged purchased few that reek from being in bed with those skunks.
It kinda amazes me that this election, imo, is reverting into a solely chocolate vs vanilla flavor preference. Everything else must not be important. As we grasp that development, we see our degree of democratic disfunction. Its no longer providing compelling choices to compelling issues, because they all have to be embodied within the construct of one man’s obvious disability to weigh all the competing interests, and propose his recommended policy to address these problems, through a ham-stringing filtering edifice we call Congress.
And so, even our national budget may be cremated on a pyre of Planned Parenthood wood. I suppose our budget must have used too much witchcraft. Chocolate or vanilla has such an easy ring to solving our country’s problems.
Democracy was to have been a means where the consensus of the people would be found and made into reality. A place where reality could be adjusted as needed to benefit all, or at least most of us. Its obvious that to accommodate a witchcraft considering conservative, is too great a burden anymore to make it work.
Its nice to think and talk within an enclave of remaining human truth values here at FDL. But we seem to be only the lovable old uncles of another time, another world; whose remaining time to influence the direction of this world is waning, however altruistic our voices and suggestions may be.
The 1% hold all the powerful cards now, they have 30 yrs of practice playing the MIC spades that trumps most discussions. The political game now being played and has been, is Spades. The MIC is the spades trump suit. Guns trumps butter (hearts), environment (clubs), financial/property (diamonds) in all hands of discussion dealt.
In the 30s hearts were trump for a while.
You may place almost all interest groups in a particular strength suited card this way. Eg. the national budget was ace of diamonds, but the Religious Right played in their conception, an ten of hearts which was a stronger suit. Our nation’s bond ratings suffered accordingly.
Obviously this metaphor isn’t perfect but it helps some folks I talk to frame a better understanding of the power relationships at play in the game of international political economics of our time. Have fun with it. Oh ya, the jokers use witchcraft to get what they want.

I’ll try to be the Joker of Hearts, my friend. ;o) Ain’t gonna give in to it, nopers. Not ever. (Unless, of course, I get my medical marijuana card, become a professional stoner and write stories instead…)
Rec’d.
And the extra paragraph spacing was just for yu! ;^)
I might add….or actually I will add, the old uncles and aunts always seem to have the most fun at the card table, obviously if the medical card is in the deck the more fun….but ya, I’m waiting for that one card to be shuffled in that has yet to be dealt, call me a dreamer, but I’m waiting for that good ole fashion “truth” card. It may be even more mind boggling than the joker, but still, deal in truth and we will finally see where this human dance can lead to.
Loved the spacing and the thoughts.
From a dad, to a son, to a brother, to another. Keep the awareness antenna on, me thinks that’s all that needs to happen. Let the river flow how it is to flow.
Aaaah, the Truth card. That one is really never actually played. It exists as your personal crystal shield from the falsity that is ever trying to invade our human selves, and is quite essential to our humanity being something other than an animal.
Truth cards consist only as the evidence of one’s personal grasp of your intrinsic humanity. Its meta; its 4D+ stuff. It touches reality only as our expressions of whats true / false, right / wrong, or moral / immoral conceptual manifestations in our 3D world. The truth card, this crystal ultimate truth shield, is our spiritual discernment interface with life in 3D. If we play it, to bring it forth into 3D, we’re only accessing it to amplify our strength of purpose or speech.
If accessed, one is in a sense betting one’s soul on its validity, and we invest all our passion in propounding its veracity in our advocacy, but our playing it in its entirety is not possible. You might think of it as 4D antimatter, its influences 3D but doesn’t actually exist or cohere here unless we democratically agree to let it shine forth in a mutually agreed conception.
Actually, we mostly just use a piece of our truth card at a time in our discussions or any other interface with the rest of us plodders of the planet. Oh, it is strong, it has its own 4D gravity that we feel as personal power and enlightenment. Ask any Pentecostal preacher.
Truth resides in Aristotle’s forms, and Plato’s allegory of the cave. We play the material cards of our opinion within the shadow of our perception of the truth, we don’t play truth as a card itself. I prefer thinking of it as the light, the fire in the cave, that those bound observe and think that the 3D shadows on the wall are the truth cards. They are only true/false cards of the 4D truth reality that exists in the fire behind them.
Truth is measured out in some wonderful universal way and kinda moves around in our joint cognitions. I access WD’s all the time. Its only found and expressed in our sixth sense inside all of us. We all carry our own conceptual versions of it and we use it like a crystal to look thru back into the 3D world to seek where is there is agreement or disagreement with it, and as a falsehood shield to protect from infecting ourselves with it. Truth therefor is your personal self worth, your essence if you will, if it has any value or validity at all.
Love and truth is what our soul consists of. You can likely see that love is truth, truth is love in our 4D+ comprehensions. All the rest is musings of where it comes from or how it effects our life in particular and humanity as a whole as its materialized or manifested in our 3D reality we coexist within.
Our physicists are scratching the surface of the physics of immateriality, truth may some day be detectable and then prove mathematically that we are all made from the same currently thought of immaterial stuff. But you, friend chebetts, may find it now manifested in your truth sense, by how you order the 54 cards of your personal deck of life’s relational meaning, those shadows I refer to. You need not wait for a numericly trapped physicist to agree that there’s a fire behind us.
Hola, mes amigos. Truth and: Ay yi yi!
Seem to have some comment burbling up, if I catch the drift, lol, but…I am sooooo bloody in need of some sleep. I’ll come back later, or at least for now i’m hoping to. ‘Life is... what happens…(and I mean ‘beautiful boy’ in the widest possible sense.)
Meanwhile, I’ve been considering ‘rational v. irrational’ beliefs. ;o)
Forgive, deep friend. Helping Q bring some truth into the 3D world is much more important than these inconsequential musings, as it were. Sleep well, deep dreams. ;^)
Muchas gracias, amigo. ;o) Not much sleep, but nice rest.
Truth. Yikers, that’s a tough one, but I think if i understood your writing, we may sorta agree. The crystal bell ringing:
It seems that it’s shaped by our consciousness, and hopefully honed by impeccable attention, or as close as we might get to it. Case in point, the Didion piece on morality tinnnggged the bell, and resonated enough sound back to me to cause me to reflect further, both with the harmonics and the dischords, dissonance. The uncomfortable bits are equally important when they stick in your soul, in your awareness, I think.
Yep, I’d guess that our personal truth is what we have to rely on in the end; I get nervous about most kinds of absolutism. Universal truths I have to leave for now in the hands of the poets and philosophers, but love must be woven through the fabric, as would life and death, but that’s as nebulous and misunderstood as speaking in the New Age way of ‘energy’. We might see it as we *saw* Kierlian photography, or as we do in our imaginations, as though we can actually *feel* or *sense* the vibrant threads of our non-physical emanations sometimes. Or…we’re just trippin’, and in my own case, I wouldn’t discount it.
Chebetts, my friend, I don’t take your meaning as to ‘Let the river flow how it is to flow.’ It seems passive, almost fatalistic, and I don’t buy for a nanosecond that’s really what you mean, or do. If every cause has an effect, then even the *cause* of sending love or healing or light toward another human has an *effect*.
Every time we bring truth to lies or falsehood, even on the boards, has an effect. I understand your thoughts that even allowing the thoughts of cancer into your awareness, might make ya sick. I do kinda believe something along those lines, even though others say it’s untterly irrational.
But, as hermit pointed out, some things that were once called irrational, arent’t always. And some things, who cares? Science and spirit may never meet, but it’s sure fun when they come a little closer, isn’t it?
I’ve been a little concerned that in some of your posts you mention people who might call you coward, or not subscribe to your point of view that engaging in our present national reality (the sorta more visible one) filled with hunger, suffering, false imprisonment, a burgeoning police state, endless war…what have you…may not be what you really mean.
It may be, (and only try this on and discard it if it ain’t useful) that you *feel* angry and outraged at times, but those feelings don’t sit beside yourself as a spiritual being in your soul, heart, mind. So to make sure that you seem more authentic to yourself, you write…what you write, and disdain the other straw man of engagement with this other reality.
Apparently it’s one of the keys to self-perception we use, as in: I do this, thus I must be ___ (this). My thing, to the point, is that both your perceptions and *acts* (as in meditations, prayers, spreading love, intentional directed thought…can live in harmony with the feelings that arouse your disapproval or..disappointment.
Buddhists on the boards are always talking about detachment, and it may be a vaunted state that I’ll never reach, and that you will, so I’m more desirous of a vigorous blend of the two roads. Or that since I *practice* both, I find it more possible/something else, I dunno. Ya know, as in my own self-perception tweaks and rationalizations. ;o)
But anyhoo, your desire to bring light and love to the table is always wonderful, as is hermit’s. We really are all in this together, and there are so many different roads.
