Now that McCain camp is realizing they lost ground with their negative adds, I guess they have decided it’s time to try to rebuild the bridges they’ve burned, but this is more because they have lost ground (since they began their negative campaign) then it is to mend fences.
So Palin does the unthinkable, she tells everyone Barack loves America;
"I know Obama loves America. I’m sure that is why he’s running for president. It’s because he wants to do what he believes is in the best interest of this great nation”
I do believe they know they will not be in office next month, they are doing their epilogue, hoping for some kind of turn in events, some surprise not yet scripted, but without that "surprise", I think they are now resolved.
Let’s see if the tone of the campaign now changes, let’s see if McCain really does try to rebuild the relationship with his new commander in chief.
Here is my prediction;
If McCain from here forward conducts a respectful campaign lauding the possible presidency of Barack Obama, his numbers will reverse course among the swing voters, not enough to win but I think the polls turn a bit from their trend.

too little too late
Perris,
I think you’re right. If McNasty and Ms Moose do take that course, they will start to close that gap in the polls.
This is somewhat scary.
Do you think Schmidt will catch on to this option?
here’s the funny thing elliot, mccain was losing even if he stayed positive, his platform is litterally “more of the same”
however with a switch from negative to positive, he can actually look like he’s gaining.
it would be far too little but he could regain some perception of “maverickosity”
“Every time Sarah speaks we all feel smarter” from POP (pissed off Patricia at Crooks and Liars)
it is so difficult for me to believe, even with all we know about McCain’s great pride for being impulsive and irresponsible (kick the tires, light the fires), that there is even a remote chance that someone so angry and twitchy could ever become the commander in chief. the incredible nerve he showed by selecting Palin is just more of the same. does he assume that the majority of voters will be so impressed by his “mavericky” behavior, that they won’t even question it. he may be the only person in the country immune to personal concerns about a hypothetical Klondike Barbie presidency, as he would likely not be around for it. i think that he would be better described as a loose cannon than a maverick.
You might want to correct that. President Obama, nor president anyone else, would be McCain’s Commander-in-Chief any more than he would be your Commander-in-Chief. Unless you are in the military.
