1) fix the software that makes you re-edit in paragraphs when you forget to tag your post
2) the first line is too close to the title
3) put the last posters name under the comments marker in the window at the right, for instance, if there ar "10 comments" I would also like to see who made the last comment
4) in our home page, when we have reached our limit of three, post the time to wait for next post to be published
5) if possilbe, a list to which sites linked to the diary, I would love to go and see the comments
6) there should be a "delete post" thingy right on our page so we don’t have to go into edit to delete the post
I’ll add some more suggestions in the comments section as I remember them

Post statistics – How many people viewed, recommended, etc. And, though this is obviously all about my ego, I assume others would be interested in knowing how many people opened up their posts.
I would love to see that too, post statistics and a list of sites who have linked to the thread
I like it!
And, can we get the Digg thingy fixed?
In re: “technical fixes.”
Are you willing to fund your suggestions?
They may be great ideas but there is a cost associated with everything suggested.
spoil sport
ya, I’ll contribute a bit to the site for sure
I believe those who participate on Oxdown already “fund” the site through their posts – i.e. the content they create and “donate” – which is part of the content that draws users, whose traffic brings advertising dollars to FDL overall.
You may disagree with that, but I’m not being snarky.
I’m not privy to any of the financials at FDL but looking at the list of “suggestions” I have a pretty good idea those suggested changes would not come cheap. There would probably need to some fairly significant code re-writing AND over head to support the changes once implemented.
Traffic does bring advertising dollars. Would it bring enough to cover the increased costs? We’re discussing this in the cheap seats where it costs us nothing.
I would agree that our Volenteer post do bring traffic and thus ad revenue for the Lake. But donating once on a while would be nice.
I do have a question… is there a word limit to a post??
Well, it costs us our time, which has value both monetary and otherwise, but anyway….
Nothing wrong in making suggestions for improvements or new features. If the powers that be don’t believe they are economically feasible then they won’t be implemented. Or perhaps the community would be willing to fund it with actual cash money if that is the case.
Nevertheless, I do think that posters on Oxdown are already funding it with their content contributions.
Please Digg your own posts when you write so I can just Digg you with a click instead of submitting EVERY post I think is worth a read.
You’re right, this all about vanity. It’s a blog, not a bulletin board.
