so check this out;
Obama proposes a movement toward national service, (something the republicans rue) you tube
And republikkan congressman Paul Broun compares him to Hitler!
“That’s exactly what Hitler did in Nazi Germany and it’s exactly what the Soviet Union did,” Broun said. “When he’s proposing to have a national security force that’s answering to him, that is as strong as the U.S. military, he’s showing me signs of being Marxist.”
“We can’t be lulled into complacency,” Broun said. “You have to remember that Adolf Hitler was elected in a democratic Germany.
oh my frigging gawd, they will do anything, say anything to undermine whatever programs our new president proposes.
BTW, I hate to use president Bush as a reference but he backed the plan himself
not to say bush knows anything at all, simply to point out these rethuglicats will support anything Bush wanted and then go on to challenge Obama over the exact same thing

So the Peace Corp was a Nazi/Catholic plot by JFK?
according to republicans, uhhyup
Obama is simply talking about building up Americorps which was created in 1993 under the Clinton Administration and was a follow-up to work HW Bush did to encourage service to our country in many forms. And if republicans rue the volunteer spirit then they are unAmerican. Unfortunately, we have evidence of Republicans praising service…One Hundred Points Of Light ring a bell? No other country has been built with a strong foundation of volunteer spirit.
Here’s some more history for poor Paul…

Congressman Broun just failed to qualify as one of Thousand Points of Light…He’s dim lit…
We need a call out to readers to write Broun and inform him of his insult on American history and our country’s unique volunteer spirit, as well as demand an apology to our nation, former President Bush, President Bush and President Elect Obama.
I want a very public apology from him.
man, you have clout klynn I must say, well done;
I am NOT going to piss you off klynn, you have too many connections!
I wish that was the case…But let’s continue on this issue and maybe we’ll find out…
That apology was as weak as water. If Broun really understood Obama’s policy, he would understand there are good works people can do, especially in urban areas of our country as well as rural, which are actions that end up falling under national security concepts. When neighborhoods are thriving and safer and kids are in good schools and graduating, that’s national security because it frees the local police up to work on any national security issues they need to team with higher security divisions on. It also produces a productive group of citizens, the next generation, to protect oue country. When water ways are protected, that’s national security…I could go on…It’s a long list. Broun totally misses this point and in missing it, fails to act as a patriot, an American. He simply blurted out words to continue on the hate montra stirred up during the campaign.
Broun owes Obama a face to face apology. Building Americorps should be a bipartisan effort and branding it as something negative is an effort to make this bipartisan policy ineffectual. Broun acted carelessly and without regard to the future of our nation.
“I regret,” are the words one uses when they have NO intention of a real apology.
Let’s try it again Broun, the word is S O R R Y and saying it directly, in person, to President Elect Obama, makes it a true apology and then an act of bipartisanship and an act of patriotism as he then follows the apology with words of commitment to supporting the building of the program.

Broun states on his website that:
He obviously does not even apply his own “test” to Obama’s community service call to our nation’s youth and our nation as a whole. Hypocrite.
With a name like Broun, and his sphere of influence, I think the Nazi accusation may well be the result of something Broun cannot grasp.
I still say to the phones, faxes and emails…Flood him and local papers.
In reference to the headline, while I don’t know about Hitler and coffee specifically, I do remember from my studies in modern history, for which I have an honors degree from a good school, that Hitler had a notoriously sensitive digestive system, he was a vegetarian, often threw tantrums over foods he was served, and generally avoided any “harsh” or “acid” foods and beverages, which I assume would include coffee.
So in this context, it would have been more accurate to refer to “potatoes” or something rather than coffee.
Of course none of this excuses Broun’s foolishness.
tee hee
thanx for the education, I had no idea hitler had a stomach problem, it is also bizarre he was a vegetarian.
It’s gotta be hard out here for a Nazi-Marxist.
I mean, whaddayawear? Brown shirts? Red shirts? Black shirts?…
