In an election for United States House of Representative from Minnesota’s 6th Congressional District today, 10/23/08, 12 days until votes are counted, DFL candidate Elwyn Tinklenberg has the nominal lead in an effectively tied race with Republican incumbent Michele Bachmann, according to a SurveyUSA poll conducted exclusively for KSTP-TV in Minneapolis. Today, it’s Tinklenberg 47%, Bachmann 44%, Independence Party candidate Bob Anderson 6%. Results are within the survey’s 4.0 percentage point margin of sampling error.
The survey was conducted on 10/20 and 10/21, before the NRCC’s decision to pull its money out of the race — and the DCCC’s to put in a million for El Tinklenberg.
Bachmann’s collapse is so severe, Charlie Cook flipped her race from "Safe Republican" to "Toss-up" — and that was before this latest poll. Her failage may be more epic than John McCain’s: Unlike him, she was actually leading Tink in the polls right up until last week.
By the way, here’s the second new ad Tink’s been able to run, thanks to you and all the other folks who’ve given him money in the past week. Enjoy!

she gets a job on faux news if she’s defeated and makes even more money, says things even more outrageous
kinda weird that she hasn’t been on Hannity’s show yet, aint it ?
seriously, this is right up his alley . . .upstanding christian conservative endangered by the great unwashed blogging hordes
is she rejecting him out of some rational sense of wanting to avoid further dogpiles ?
or is he rejecting her ’cause he doesn’t want one more republic loser on the program ?
A friend of mine lives in this district and she reminds me that these voters sent a Republican who was convicted of sexual assault to the state lege rather than vote for a Democrat.
Cautious optimism, but GOTV.
Thanks PW.

Update:
oh look, the AFL-CIO is targeting Bachman with it’s latest mailer
