Even though more Republican officeholders are retiring or running for other offices than are Democratic ones, the GOP/Media Complex only focuses on the Democrats. Gotta defend the "Democrats in Disarray" narrative at all costs, y’know.
The latest case in point: Indiana’s Steve Buyer, retiring days after his Frontier Foundation was embroiled in financial scandal. The only way I knew about this was because somebody forwarded the story to me. Meanwhile, Democrats who retire or decide to try for other offices are seen as proof of — of — well, of something that somehow indicates they’re not very well off, and this is trumpeted throughout a very GOP-friendly media.
Oh, well.

Yup! Republicans are ahead of Democrats in retiring, too, but that’s never the story…
Anyone keeping count of retirees, D’s v. R’s? I’d like to see a list of retirees with party affiliation.
Probably more a “corporate-friendly” media. What else do the media monopolies that remain have as a primary directive but their own survival? The GOP is just stupider, more corrupt, and a snap to manipulate.
That information is in the article.
Thank you: that helps me identify sources that aren’t part of the “GOP/Media Complex” since they are carrying the story.
FOX News
Chicago Tribune
Washington Post
USA Today
It isn’t that the retirement isn’t covered at all; it’s that it could easily be part of a media narrative that “the Republicans are in such disarray that x no. of Repubs are retiring.”
In contrast, every time one Dem retires, there’s a big media frenzy over the “dems in disarray”. No such media frenzy for the R’s.
And with Buyer, had he been a democrat, there would have been a media frenzy assuming (in the form of a question, is he retiring because…)that the retirement is because of the scandal over his foundation that has never funded a thing. Except Buyer.
That’s the difference.
Yep, actually the cry about dems is about Obama’s agenda failing.
I generally ignore what print media says, they are producing trash and so is most of the networks, Faux and CNN, when I have to go to Russian based channel to get the fucking truth in life, that says a TON to me.
PW the Media loves the GOP we know thats why they skew the News the GOP’s way. But what are we missing why are more GOPers retiring when with unemployment over 10% the GOP should be running easy to victory.
Republicans don’t “retire,” they just pick a slot on FOX. Talking about it too much might make them too uppity with their new contracts. The Free Market at work, and all.
The best thing for the Country would be if they all retired, but ain’t gonna happen.
No matter which party wins the fall elections, nothing will change or get better.
There will still be to to many of the old ones still there, and they will still rule the roost.
The change we could believe in, and the change the Country needs, is to remove all of the incumbants, but they have it structured so that can’t happen.
So the little joy of seeing a couple go, is a false enthusiasm.
I think it’s 17 Ds to 19 Rs or some such.
