They’re here! They’re queer! They’re astonishingly well-choreographed!
Watch as those pesky gay barbarians and their like-minded straight friends, brought together by Nick Espinosa of ColumbusGoHome fame, show up at Marcus Bachmann’s clinic and put on a peaceable demonstration of stylishly barbarian terpsichore. They even brought along a Marcus of their own to baptize in glitter!

Folks
Ya gotta love Minnesot-ah.
Doncha know?

Gay Barbarian Art Performance – WIN!
Love it – recc’d
This is excellent. Cheers for them – and they were really good at it, too.
(Leaping to feet; standing tall)….. I am Gay Barbarian!
Yeah! Love that.
Awesome!
“They’re astonishingly well-choreographed!” This trait will be mapped genetically someday, I think. :)

Thanks for the laugh. Recc’d.
It was, dare I say it, fabulous.
):-( smile.
I have seen links to Glitterati and started to use them as a source but didn’t know if they were trustworthy on the political side.
Anyway, Go-Glitterati!
Now, I’d like to ask everyone to give this post some love. It needs national attention.

What is the purpose of this? Will this change minds? It seems to make a farce of the movement it is trying to advance. This is a serious issue being treated as a joke. Did MLK ever throw moonpies or break dance at Lester Maddox or Bull Conner?
You can’t win a struggle with yuks and gaffaws.
When you make a Direct action, you let us know.
Meanwhile, the Gay Barbarians of America will bring the fight to the door of the jerks, most entertainingly I might add, where you do nothing except rant your soft focused dystopic jeremiads.
Frankly, we don’t need you.
If laughter is worthless as a weapon, why do the tyrants fear it so? (Besides, Dr. King wasn’t the humorless drone you imagine him to be. Neither was the Mahatma.)
Exactly. Daveparts writes a bunch of dystopic diaries, only comments on his own diaries, until right now.
And then finds it necessary to dump on activists.
Irritates me no end.
It’s a pretty disarming weapon, no one sees it coming.
Everyone stops and watches, and tapes it, and laughs at the bigot.
Dance and sing while that right is still available. I believe these creeps are dominionist. Which probably means that if they gain power (include perry) don’t think being outside, let alone dancing. You’ll be back in the closet. I’ll venture to say that will equally apply to the Log Cabin folks. When you folks gonna pull your heads our of your asses? All Americans need to fight this infection.
Wow! What fantastic choreography!!!
I am not dumping, I am only questioning the purpose of comedy in the face of oppression. You’re attitude seem to be that I’m either with you or with the terrorist’s. Is it wrong to question? Has this become the Republican Party?
George Carlin did more to advance awareness than any of you whiners ever could. What about Wavy Gravy and The Hog Farm? They brought thousands to Chicago in ’68. The whole world saw that. Lighten up! No one is going to make you laugh or dance. Geeze, dude!
Exactly. It’s taking Marcus Bachmann’s ‘barbarians’ comment and turning it into an effective weapon.
Is it wrong to question the questioner? Are you the Republican Party?
Back to the topic at hand: The flashmobbers are doing a riff on Marcus Bachmann’s infamous comment in which he called gays “barbarians” in need of “discipline”. (The beginning of the video features his comments, by the way.) If the flashmobbers were doing this at, say, the Tar Sands Action protest, then I might see your point as expressed in your first comment — there have been a number of instances of people/groups trying to piggyback onto/hijack events for their own ends — but that simply isn’t the case here.
“When you folks gonna pull your heads our of your asses? All Americans need to fight this infection.”
You’re preaching to the choir here, Jimbo. Most folks who are here understand all of this. Why not take your message to the letters thread of a newspaper and try to reach some of the unconverted as well?
Exactly, that is my point. “All Americans need to fight this infection.”
“Flashmob Visits Marcus Bachmann’s Clinic, Has Hella Good Time”
Is that fighting or having a good time?
I know that you think that I am not on your side but I am, and I see this tactic as counter productive. What does this look like to middle America, people having a serious dialog about their rights or a group of people clowning around?
Marcus Bachmann is a nut case and so when you do a song and dance in front of his office you bring him attention and who looks foolish? You win few friends and give the other side ammunition to use against you.
“Get those barbarians off my lawn!”
Looks like two versions of the video have about 30,000 hits on youtube. Not viral, but considerable.
I’m sincerely in favor of humor as an ‘educational’ tool. But on the other hand, I am a geeky idiot, so…there’s that. ;o)
