   There is going to be a lot of “extra” cash for PP as pink ribbons are in shreds, and people will be re-directing their money to a reputable health care organization. I saw a pr magnet on a car today, and I think I will need to be keeping a marker handy for some parking lot revisions. Pink is over.

    There is a “Komen Insider”, a sort of Anonymous of the One Percent Charity. Apprently Handel, the R wingnut has also been conspiring against Planned Parenthood. Wingnuts enjoy unplanned parenthood.

    But the Komen Insider has been conspiring against Handel. And Handel you need to do the right thing. Even if you are tone deaf. Or, YOU’RE FIRED!

    “It became clear Thursday night that something had to give,” the source said. “Nancy Brinker, Liz Thompson, the board, and leadership were saying, ‘We’re really worried about Komen’s mission if we don’t figure this out.’ But Karen was still arguing against it as of Friday morning — she was horrified that we were caving, she said. She’s politically tone-deaf.”

    In light of the political damage and the abrupt reversal of the Planned Parenthood funding decision, pressure has mounted inside Komen for Handel to resign.

    “Everybody in the organization wishes she would do the right thing,” the Komen insider said.

    So far, Handel hasn’t indicated an intention to step down. Nor does it appear that she’s been formally asked to do so. But as a result of her efforts, Komen has been left reeling and its reputation as a top charity endangered.

    What’s also interesting, as RHRealityCheck points out, is how Komen’s stories have changed dramatically over the past few days, as more facts come to light that shoot down each of their excuses in turn.

    Yep. At this point their credibility is completely broken and that’s the death knell for a charitable organization. Too many lies and there’s no telling if and where they stop.

    i feel obliged to echo others above: “of course”!

    this has all the markings of the never-too-subtle attacks of the self-righteous activists of the rightwing- another breitbart, but on a larger scale.

    and of course the congressman was involved.

    the whole “can’t fund due to impending investigation” REQUIRED collusion between

    - a rightwing anti-abortion group (who demanded an investigation),

    - the congressman’s office, and

    - the Susan G Korman for-Sister-Nancy’s-Political-Goals Foundation.

    just remember:

    - all that most current-day republicans want is power

    - almost all current-day republicans may be likened to oliver cromwell and his movement,

    i.e., are pseudo-democratic authoritarians.
