Hello, fellow FDLers. For my virgin diary, I would just like to share something that got my attention this morning when I turned on my trusty community radio radio station for my daily fix of Amy Goodman:

Surely, he’s simply repeating the Presidents assurance from his speech to Congress on 9th September :
“I will not back down on the basic principle that if Americans cannot find affordable coverage we will provide you with a choice.”

I’m going to guess that this was either a transcription issue or a brain fart on Reid’s part and that he meant to say “to” rather than “for”.
He voted No before he voted Yes.

Reid’s gonna wish he voted no when he loses to a Republican. Reid stuck his head in a Cheneyco meat ginder as did 57 other Senate Democrats plus Joe Lieberman and Bernie Sanders. Only the safest Democrats will survive the bad press from the Republicans and their Media Arm (the entire MSM).
All the insurance company graft in the world won’t put this Genie back in the bottle.
The media seems to like the bill now. (it does like the corporate money grab) But watch it turn on a dime in favor of Republicans.
The fact is that the Republicans would have loved to have crafted an insurance company giveaway like this. They did Medicare Part D
after all – with no government negotation for drug prices and no reimportation. Like this bill, it was also a gift to insurance co’s and big pharma.
This bill is a grander scheme. The Republicans would love to have been the recipients of huge insurance company payola.
No matter. The insurance companies and the media prefer the Republicans!
They want ALL the marbles. And they don’t want to pay any taxes to boot.
Democrats have screwed themselves royally.

Obama said on December 16 that America would go bankrupt if we didn’t rein in runaway health care costs The CBO says health care costs will go up 71 percent in the next ten years, and that the Senate bill will have little effect one way or the other on this figure.
In other words… VICTORY! And 95 percent of the bill Obama wanted. Except for the tiny little part where we keep the country from going bankrupt.

No one seriously believes that the proposals in this turd will bend the cost curve. It’s like they had several proposals in front of them and went far out of their way to choose the worst one.

Primaried or fired, he’s gone. He IS losing to his GOP opponent and the situation in that regard will not improve. So, if you want his seat to NOT be GOP, then there is only one way to avoid that (not that it seems to matter whether a seat is a D or an R) and that really is to primary him AND WIN.
On the other hand, if you primary him and he wins the primary, the answer is NOT to vote for him nonetheless.
