About MyFDL
MyFDL is the community site of progressive political blog Firedoglake. Anyone can participate by writing a diary, commenting on others’ diaries, or joining groups to find other people in your area. Content posted to MyFDL is the opinion of the author alone, and should not be attributed to Firedoglake.
Hope so! ;o)

Wendy, I missed your nice article about this upcoming event……been away since I was scolded about this posting:
http://my.firedoglake.com/public/2011/12/03/the-failure-to-investigate-911-has-bankrupted-america/#recommend-33-12686
By the way, I recall you once suggesting that I re-post something as a stand alone diary and therefore thought that that was OK to do at FDL.
[Ed. Note - it is not permitted to re-post entire articles by an author other than yourself; that violates the Fair Use doctrine to which we strictly adhere at FDL.]
Never will happen: no way and no how.
There is this little thing called martial law and disruption of interstate commerce.
The occupation of public/private land in the cities was ‘tolerated’ by the PTB just long enough to showcase to the world how free the American people are to voice their dissent.
But when the PTB decided enough freedom of speech has been given to the people, they conspiratorially closed them down.
And with the ability of the government, read that as the fascist oligarchy, to detain indefinitely any American on American soil and cause them to ‘disappear’ without the right of habeas corpus, the concept of freedom of expression became but an illusion.
Remember, the police and military don’t work for the people: they work only for their fascistic lords and masters.
Of course I could be wrong, but then again I am a realistic pessimist, and the reality is that the owners of this country will never give the lemmings, read that as suckers, an even break.
Sadly, freedom has become but another word for nothing left to lose.
Public:
I didn’t know that you had posted this diary on FDL until just now. Earlier this morning I posted a comment on Glenn’s latest thread partly directed at you – due to a comment you posted a couple of weeks back about your vehement disagreement with OO’s proposal about the west coast ports. I posted a link to OO that included the longshoremen declaring that they will not cross the picket lines. Other links showing that the impending march on the ports is on a trajectory of success are also posted at OO and other sites. I see now that you are aware of that.
The idea is to improve things for the many by showing the few that we are serious about this. I gather that you agree with that, so, if I am correct in that assumption, you perhaps now agree that the shutting down or marching upon the ports might turn out all danged right after all?
It is possible that I am mistaking you, Public, for the person who is Public on Glenn’s UT. Especially since I just now realized that Cocktailhag is Public here. :o)
link doesn’t work- page not found.
interested in what caused your scolding as i’ve run afoul of the censors… err… moderators here too.
I’m confused, and would like to become de-confused. I also can’t get that link to open to what seemed to be the intended destination. And, I’m also not sure if Publican is Cocktailhag. That especially, I hope, will be cleared up.
BlueCrow, here’s the story I re-posted:
The Failure to Investigate 9/11 Has Bankrupted America
http://www.washingtonsblog.com/2011/12/the-failure-to-investigate-911-has-bankrupted-america.html
That link worked for me from here, so I thought it would work for others too!!!
Kitt, there must be other Publics out there.
Best,
FDL Public
doremus, I expect it to be different than the previous port shutdown, especially since there are new police agencies involved – supposedly the Cost Guard and US Customs and Border Protection. I posted some more thoughts about this here: http://my.firedoglake.com/hotflashcarol/2011/12/11/occupy-oakland-wtfwmd/
Hit em in the wallet-That’s what they did in the sit-down strikes of 1937 here in Flint Mich. Shut em down boys and girls!!!
Occupy Hilo will be protesting outside the Port of Hilo tomorrow in solidarity with ya’ll…! ;-)
Like Wendy, I hope so!
The video makes it sound like it’s an ILWU action, so I went to the ILWU site and found this:
http://www.ilwu.org/?p=3296
Kitt, I thought Cocktailhag was Cocktailhag here.
No it doesn’tm ondelette. It’s very clear in stating that it was in November, and will be tomorrow, an #Occupy action to demonstrate solidarity with the ILWU.
Why do you insist on posting untrue comments?
Watch the video again. It clearly states that the action is “in solidarity with the Longshoreman’s struggle with EGT…” That’s ILWU, that’s the union. “If we bring that out up and down the coast that will not only be a beautiful thing for the ILWU, but for the…”, and footage of ILWU Local 34 speaking. I’m not posting untrue comments. It looks like its coordinated for ILWU. The ILWU site has a posting on it. So I put up a link to it. What’s untrue about that?
If you want to propagandize, fine. But if I have something I found and impressions that I took away from your video and they clash, I’m going to post it. If you don’t like how that looks, then you have a problem, not me.
Public, I don’t remember in what context I might have used ‘stand-alone diary’; usually it’s used when a great comment (maybe with a link or video) might be expanded into its own post.
But if you base a diary on someone else’s work, you have to translate, paraphrase, expand upon, interpret, etc. enough of it get the meaning across, but only quote so much of it.
In the box above the Rec’d Diaries list is a link to ‘More about MyFDL’. This is section #5 on copyright rules:
“Do not violate any copyright laws — This means do not reprint articles in whole from other websites or news sources, unless you are the author. If you are quoting an article, only use a maximum of two or three paragraphs. At the moment please do not use AP sources AT ALL. For more information about what is acceptable use of copyright material, please read more here.”
(The ‘here’ is here, and good luck with it) ;o):

I don’t need to watch it again, onelette. I go tit right the first time. How much more clear than the names of the Occupies up and down the West coast being flashed in headlines at the beginning of the video does it need to be for you NOT to be the only commenter who doesn’t get it?
Sheesh.
Wendy, here’s your comment that confused me…….thanks for clarifying the rules for me.

Please post it, Public!!! How grand, and I say that as an almost complete Luddite (old dog, new tricks, la la la…) Make it a diary stand-alone…please. This is just word-art, (she said hopefully). Didn’t have the time yet to bring washingtonblog’s list yet, but I will try hard to before the day is…done. Love [...]
ILWU seemed to think that people were having trouble with it. I watched the video and thought that Occupy was supporting a union action. In case you don’t know about the Taft Hartley act, such a thing would be legal, while the union striking to support Occupy would not. Many people will get that impression who understand the union constraint for the same reason. So I went and checked. And posted my results. Understand? You’re really pretty thick for someone who wants to decide who’s allowed in the gate and who’s not.
Well…was ‘she’ referring to your art diary you did soon after? Hope so. But don’t listen to her; she’s crazy!
Anyway… A. at washingtonsblog is getting pretty into Ron Paul, no? Kinda wish it weren’t so.
And the ’2 or 3 paragraphs’ thing seems to be variable; there are short ones…and long ones… I just wing it. But A. would give permission, I’m sure. Come to think of it, he used to have a bit posted that we could jack his diaries as long as we attributed them and provided links back to his site.
Just checked, and I don’t see it. You could ask in a comment thread, maybe he would put up the same protocol rules and permission.
