Honoraria, naturally, not disclosed:
WASHINGTON, D.C. (Tuesday, November 17, 2009) – The Biotechnology Industry Organization (BIO) today announces that Presidents Bill Clinton and George W. Bush, the 42nd and 43rd Presidents of the United States, will appear together for a moderated discussion at the 2010 BIO International Convention, which will be held May 3-6 in Chicago, Ill. at McCormick Place.
Presidents Clinton and Bush, who served in the White House for 16 years, will discuss a wide variety of issues relating to both domestic and foreign policy. Jim Greenwood, BIO’s President and CEO, will moderate the discussion between the two former Presidents on Tuesday, May 4th at 11:30 a.m.
"We are honored to have the rare opportunity to host two such influential and experienced global thought leaders as they share the same stage at the same time as headliners at our Convention," said BIO President & CEO James Greenwood. "We look forward to a thoughtful and informative discussion between Presidents Bush and Clinton as they discuss top issues and explore how biotechnology can create a better tomorrow by healing, fueling and feeding the world. I’m sure this keynote discussion will inspire and engage the global industry leaders in attendance."
Fortunately, prospective attendees can avail themselves of a range of affordable generic antiemetic medications, which they would be well advised to take prophylactically.

Well said, ralphbon. So do we laugh or cry? I guess both, eh?
Both. This is one more example of the revolving money making door via the White House. Greenwood’s speech at the second link is sort of funny. He slams the previous government in such areas as the blocking of stem cell research and funding. So, what on earth is Bush getting paid to talk about? Global thought is a favorite of Greenwood’s. He wants to quickly own all technology rather than to share with other researches for the betterment of all earth’s people. It is beginning to look like Clinton insists his little buddy be part of any speaking engagement. Poppy is likely paying him high daycare fees to keep Junior occupied. Greenwood mentions the financial mess..hmmm..Clinton might have something to do with the bank deregulation that helped cause it and Bush’s wars have proven rather costly. Their fees are lobbyist fees.
One of the things discussed in Greenwood’s speech is data exclusivity and patents. The industry has attempted to patent the human genome. They want to own all cures found through this research for a long long time. Contrary to original thought, few diseases are genetic. But, they sure want control over the ones that are. Only the very rich will be able to afford any cure these vampires find. Under bio tech, falls GMO aka frankenfoods. As Hillary helped push this filth upon the world, I can see why they are paying Bill. Alternate fuel..ie..converted corn, led to increased food costs and starvation in third world countries. Iraq, Afghanistan, Mexico, Sudan, Indian farmers, etc. cannot afford the sterile seed and fertilizer. Monsanto is planning to increase the cost of their seed by 42% next year. Bio tech means cloned animals and drugs placed in these animals to make them grow faster. Antibiotics are then needed because they are not healthy animals. It is done for no reason other than to increase profit and to eventually literally own all of the animals and force fees from ranchers.

oops..I forgot to say that the first link is to a PDF.
No, I think I’d just let myself throw up [...something I haven't done in decades]. ;~) Hoping that I might hit one of the dignitaries who is being obstructive. Lieberman, maybe? Surely, he’ll be there.
On question: Can GWB even pronounce biotechnology properly?
I just hope someone either tweets or live-blogs this event.
Libby: I kept trying to edit my previous comment, but the changes would not stick.

The edit function has been doing weird things of late. Edits don’t always show up immediately on preview.
And it gets rid of paragraphs, too. Not once have I managed to get cancel to work. It ignores me every time.
Only temporarily. Publish the edit and the site stets the paragraph spacing in short order.
Thank you very much. What is the secret to making cancel work? Is it the same in that it eventually happens?
I don’t have experience with the Cancel button. Once I’ve decided to pontificate, it’s pretty much Launch Commit.
Haha..ok.
ralph, thanks for saying something about the amendment! I made a new diary. Hope it helps. :) libby
i do feel sick. thanks though ralphbon for the diary and for the news. wish i knew about it when clinton was being defended as too busy to go to arkansas.
I’d rather see the debate:

But it was canceled…
BIO knew better than to present this as a celebrity death match. Instead, it will be a well-compensated industry love-fest, and the only real contest will be between articulate and inarticulate shilling.
Shameful. No…worse…criminal.

There, fixed the little omission.
