Instead of obeying the law and refusing to obey an illegal order to start an illegal war the cowards that were the US military establishment took refuge in the old excuse to abrogate personal responsibility of “We were just obeying orders”
Ignoring the fact that after WW II the universal code of Military Justice, The Geneva Rules of warfare and the World Courts standards were that they had an obligation to disobey illegal orders.
To iniate a war against a country that does not pose an immediate threat is illegal. Iraq did not pose an immediate threat. The Iraq war was illegal. Those who just “Followed orders” are war criminials.
Espiacially when the US had a “Professional ” army not one full of supposedly ignorant short term draftees.
Anyone who was of the rank of Major and above or Staff Sargeant anfd above should be busted cashiered stripped pension, of right to vote, own weapons, be bonded, passport and monitored just as we should monitor violent parolees.
Any less and it is a shame and a blot upon our country that will haunt us and our children for generations.
Other countries command structure has shown courage on exactly this issue it is sad that we accept such a low level of competence, ethics and faithfulness to their oaths all in the name of blind, and immoral, obdience.

Staff Sergent? Just what kind of power do you think a Staff Sergent has? Yes, the Iraq war was bullshit and probably illegal but to hang anything like strategy on enlisted personnel only reveals your ignorance. Blaming a Staff Sergent for anything except his/her own behavior and the behavior of his/her own squad is absurd.
You’re right they swore to uphold the constitution everyone of them and everyone of them betrayed us and the oath they took to defend the constitution. The problem is it was just following orders by ALL led to the deaths of a million or more.
Our public education failed to convey our civic obligations not to follow the unlawful orders of idiots. An undeclared war is an illegal invasion and occupation, something we hung a few Germanys for masterminding .
