Since it’s the last holiday weekend of the summer, things are likely to be relaxed here at The Seminal. Stop in between picnics and parades for your weekly fix of art and food — but on Monday, let’s try something different.

On Saturday:

  • Bill Egnor has another chapter of his novel Dark Soul to offer for your consideration and feedback;
  • massacio will be looking at Thomas Couture’s Romains de la décadence (Romans during the Decadence), which for some reason makes me think of Wall Street banksters;
  • I’ll share with you one of my favorite photographers, a man who regularly saves me time and effort. Who knew art could do that?

On Sunday:

  • Watch for an educational post on sauces by community member Larue (I know I can’t wait for this one);
  • Bill Egnor will continue his series on sourdough breads with Whole Wheat Sourdough;
  • Ruth Calvo is going to share some microwave magic with us;
  • Our ever-reliable Aunt Toby will bring us this week’s Food News;
  • And I’ve got a mess of mixed tomatoes to cook up into a snack or meal.

On Labor Day Monday, let’s have some fun with something new, a theme for the day. Let’s try sharing Three Things!

  • Share something about Labor Day – what’s it mean to you?
  • It’s the end of summer – share something that symbolizes the end of the season, or the beginning of autumn;
  • And a WILDCARD – share something unexpected to mix things up a bit.

Be sure to put Three Things in your diary’s title and use the tags "Labor Day" and "Three Things." Be creative; share video, photos, poems, essays, any Three Things which match the day’s theme (please, no copyrighted material without permission).

I’m already looking around for things to photograph for Labor Day’s Three Things. If you see a camera pointed your way at a Labor Day parade, it could be me!
