During the month of March, over 500 individuals joined the Firedoglake member benefits program. All membership t-shirts and bags have been sent out. Members should expect their personalized FDL cards this week or the beginning of next week at the latest.

I have a question. I use my plastic and paper shopping bags for garbage. as a result I do not spend money on plastic garbage bags.
So if I switch to one of these bags for shopping i will now have to spend money and buy plastic garbage bags and net net not sure if I am really reducing the amount of plastic i use as still need to dispose of my garbage. Certainly know I will spend more money to get rid of my garbage, but don’t think it will reduce amount of plastic
Well I am not sure what the best way to go about this is. If you use your plastic grocery bags as trash bags it is using just as much plastic as using a reusable bag to shop and buying plastic bags. The best option is to buy eco safe compostable trash bags..stay tuned we might just have a member benefit discount for those very soon.
Regardless of how consistent we try to be taking our reusable bags with us when we go out, there are always plastic bags coming into our house on those trips when we’ve forgot our reusables. There’s always enough of them to line every trash can in our house.
