I hear a lot of hate, not only on Fox News, but in the street. In Holland, which I hope is not a peek into our future which ironically never did anything to upset Muslims overseas, Muslims have more and more trouble finding work, (instead of like in the US, getting such jobs as bank tellers where honesty is important). Some Muslim kids are looked on as an unemployable weirdos. In Europe Muslims don’t fit in, as much as they have in the US’s what was once called a melting pot, but things are drifting in the European direction.

Obama has been trying to bring the America the world once loved after World War II, back again. Bush had faults, but urged that Muslim businesses not be defaced as he constantly affirmed, that moderates like the King of Jordan were America’s friends.

The only choice for the future doesn’t have to be helping bin Laden make this a more Balkanized world. Daniel Pearl, a Wall Street Journal correspondent, was lured to Pakistan and brutally tortured and beheaded, but his relatives didn’t join al Qaeda in spreading war and hate but instead organized peace concerts and prayer services. Let’s keep our eyes open for Muslim neighbors being harassed, and perhaps organize Peace Mondays, where in the morning everyone will wear Jewish skullcaps, and in the afternoon Muslim face and head-scarves or Arab clothing, and in the evening perhaps something of other religions or groups as well.

Before 9/11 Muslim girls covered their hair a little less than expected and boys and girls secretly winked at each other. Now bin Laden has gotten people to take religion more seriously ironically except for al Qaeda suicide-bombers who can get drunk before battle, one even reportedly was at a whorehouse.

Bin Laden, unlike Prophet Mohammad, is preaching that victory not practice is of the utmost importance. Ancient Muslims banned drugs, not taxed them, but the bin Ladenized Taliban thinks getting drug taxes is more important. Joan of Arc would have never been allowed in a Muslim army where children never served as water boys or lookouts. In today’s world a child with down syndrome was chosen to be a remote-controlled suicide-bomber, and one fanatical son likewise outfitted his mother who also had down syndrome in a remote-controlled suicide outfit as well. After al Qaeda attacked the Shiite Golden Mosque, millions of Shiites and Sunnis had to flee their homes in tit-for-tat violence. We remember 9/11, but Spaniards can’t enter a commuter train without each time remembering the Madrid Backpack Bombings, which would have been more deadly than 9/11 had one train entered the station moments earlier.

Before 9/11, Bin Laden’s biggest complaint was heathen troops on Sacred Muslim soil, but US troops were withdrawn from Saudi Arabia in 2003, as al Qaeda attacked the contractors that replaced them. Had al Qaeda not attacked the contractors, ordinary Saudis who also resented head-scarves-less female GI’s rooming the country might have cheered the idea that al Qaeda chased them out. Rich Saudis feared a situation where they would no longer have non-Muslim servants. Fortunately the peace movement didn’t call Bush a hypocrite by claiming to be standing up to terror as he withdrew from Saudi Arabia, the original primary reason he claimed for the attack. Perhaps this time Taliban could agree to turn over, to a world court, any al Qaeda member so requested. The few Al Qaeda members still in Afghanistan not Pakistan, might just leave first, but at least al Qaeda wouldn’t get a change to cheer they won. Of course that is if Fox News, the Washington Times, and Dick Cheney doesn’t, at that point, insist that al Qaeda won.

The war in Afghanistan only helps al Qaeda to hope they will bankrupt the US like they believe they did the Soviet Union in Afghanistan. But the peace movement claiming that it is war for an oil pipeline while at the same time Fox News tries to use the war to discombobulate Obama and anything progressive, warms bin Laden’s heart.

In al Qaeda’s video presentations it wants Americans to get mad at Israel and for Muslims to get mad at the US. Let’s find a way to make al Qaeda’s dreams for a polarized future less likely. I want to urge that local Muslims not be picked on, but since Nidal Malik Hasan bought his deadly automatic pistols in August, being picked on after August, likely wasn’t any major factor. I am surprised that an active duty soldier in uniform speaking against war at a public forum wasn’t reported on peace blogs. An editor might suggest this paragraph tends to counter what I said before, but I think honesty is on the side of peace, rather than hiding from any awkward detail.

Let’s do what we can to both oppose the war and al Qaeda at the same time. And reach out to each other the way Daniel Pearl’s relatives can inspire us to do.

We live in a world where protesting nonviolent Buddhist monks in Burma get suppressed. Finding ways to encourage peaceful protest to succeed is a way for kids to find positive heroes instead of desperate kids, such as at Columbine, feeling inspired by suicide bombings.

Hate groups will make hay out of Nidal Malik Hasan’s mass murders for at least weeks to come. The first openly religious person to engage in mass murder will inspire those who hate religion. Those who smear Hamas as being like al Qaeda will dwell on the fact that Nidal Hasan’s parents came from Palestine. Elsewhere, David Horowitz and Tigre Hill and rewriting Black Panther, and Mumia abu-Jamal history to imply that the Panthers were the kind of people to snipe at police-cars and uniforms, and that Mumia felt empowered by the barrel of a gun, instead of by his endless essays before and after he was accused of murder,

After 9/11, most accused of terror lost most of their Constitutional Rights. If Horowitz gets his way everyone as soon as they were accused of a heinous crime would lose their rights as well, and if Horowitz succeeds we might actually have a future President similar to ex-Vice-President Cheney bragging about infringing Constructional Freedoms. We may not be able to all get along but if we don’t keep trying things might get far worse then they already are.

This essay, and groups similar to the Daniel Pearl Foundation are the real armies opposing bin Laden’s hate. When a son dresses his down syndrome mother in a remote-controlled suicide vest, he is opposing Prophet Mohammad and what every other historic prophet or religion ever taught. Convincing the world they are betraying their heritage, more than ours is the best way to deflect their appeal with desperate people.
