Midway is a 2.4-square-mile atoll in the North Pacific Ocean, roughly equidistant between North America and Asia. On the Midway Atoll National Wildlife Refuge, administered by the US Fish and Wildlife Service, tens of thousands of baby albatrosses lie dead on the ground, their bodies filled with plastic from the Great Pacific Garbage Patch. Of the 1.5 million Laysan Albatrosses that still inhabit Midway, nearly all have plastic in their digestive system. This is the trailer for the feature film “MIDWAY” by photographer Chris Jordan, expected to be released late 2013. See MidwayFilm.com for more information.
