Sarah Palin’s movie opens with shots of celebrities like Matt Damon and Bill Maher wryly observing the oft repeated missive that she’s basically unqualified for county dog catcher.
We didn’t want celebrities to be the only ones to have a chance to weigh in on Palin, nor did we want her machine to get away with a flattering and one-sided portrayal of her tenure as governor. That’s why we built a Palin avatar that interacts with you and reads your lines.
It’s almost like the real thing or an empty pair of eyeglasses!

There have been some hilarious entries already and I’m pleased that so many people have adopted satire as a way to take Sarah’s perceived strengths and use them against her.
If you haven’t had a chance to play around with our Palin avatar, you can participate here.
There’s a lot missing from her two-hour movie, and you need not read a review, let alone pay to see it to know the movie is detached from history and reality. It’s not even playing in her home state, which seems to me to be a glaring omission given the movie glorifies her tenure there.
Her movie isn’t about truth. It’s all about media attention, and its backers openly admit it.
It credits her as a whistle-blower who exposed corruption in her state party. It doesn’t use the word “socialist,” but it lavishes praise on her ability to put her on the neck of corporations, then turn around and shower voters with a bonus check.
The film’s backers hope these facts can drown out the more talked about contributions Palin’s known for like denigrating the president, making millions from a compliant Roger Ailes and tweeting. Of course, this list, like her movie, omits many things that you might want to tell Palin yourself or vote for the best thing missing from her movie.
The news cycle is driven by clicks, and I think that’s why Palin is talked about with so much regularity. We can’t stop the presses, but we can add our voices to the conversation and try and refocus it on the multiple inaccuracies and omissions in her film.
Sarah Palin is not funny, and her influence on our democracy is even less so. But we can use humor to undercut her faux populism and appeal, so add your voice and tell Sarah what’s missing from her movie.

Sarah isn’t acting. She really is a mean-spirited idiot.
Actually I feel that Sarah Palin really and truly IS a great actress. Palin is very very good at “acting” like she actually cares about the crap she’s spewing out, and she’s got her grifter-con game down pat. Doesn’t she make a ton of money out of fleecing rubes, like the one’s who actually pay to watch her dumbitude at the movies???
I’d say Palin’s got great bona fides as an actress…. just depends on how you view those acting credentials.
They are all actors. Nothing new under the sun
Looks like FDL has a sever case of PDS….Its not 2008, this wonam’s opinions mean absolutely nothing. Its time we stopped giving her the attention she craves.
That she is. I voted for “How Ben Franklin crossed the Delaware to warn Stalin with kites to not put death panels in the Alamo.”
And here I swore to myself last week to stop writing ANYTHING about Palin.
more words of wisdom from the new commenter (signed on here on July 14th) who has previously come up with such gems as:
Not that this means anything, and you’re right we give too much attention to Palin.
But I happen to know the “entry” you voted for came from an FDL member and regular lurker.
Is Palin the understudy for Sigourney Weaver in the next Alien flick? Surely looks so.
Sarah’s on the way down, and she knows it.
Book sales, pitiful. Including her daughters.
Movie attendance, probably enough to make this movie profitable, but then again, this was a cheap budget film probably processed outside of America.
Has anyone read about her being the headliner at a big event lately? No, and there’s a plethora of reasons, mostly that even her fans know they’ve been had by her.
Of course, having the lunatic in waiting, Michele Bachmann, there, working hard to make Sarah irrelevent isn’t helping Sarah either.
I did not know that, nor does your comment make sense. What do you mean?
I guess it doesn’t make sense.
I’d found Greenwald’s Palin quote site sometime ago and what you voted for was my contribution to it.
It took me by surprise to to find it here, and I posted without thinking. It seemed boastful or something to say “Ooo, ooo, that was me.” so it came out all cagy.
I should have just kept it to myself.
Regarding Sarah Palin posts, articles and diaries at firedoglake:
Having probably written more articles about her here than anyone, even Lisa Derrick, I have to defend fdl‘s approach to Palin over the past three years. Most have been topical. Most have been critical. Several have been quite snarky. Few have been nasty, unlike many other blogs, international, national or local (I live in Wasilla).
Mr. Greenwald’s post is about the cultural ramifications of what is beginning to look like one of the most comically inept attempts at political rehabilitation in the history of American cinema. In that sense it is topical.
It references, through HTML links several sources that observe the shortcomings of The Undefeated, from the point of view of a highly acclaimed documentarian. In that sense it is critical.
It gives the reader opportunities to see humorous contributions by others, and offers them a chance to participate as a voter, or as a candidate, in a contest. This is associated with firedoglake traditions some new commenters may not understand or appreciate. In that sense, it is not only snarky, but democratic, and possibly shows an awareness of community tradition here.
As for not being nasty, here’s the conclusion of an essay this morning at the Alaska blog, Immoral Minority, about this same movie. The features the back bumper of a car in Haines, Alaska that reads “Sarah Palin Eats Poop”:
Unfortunately, even though most of us would rather she simply go away, that has not been the case. It may happen soon, or she may have staying power that defies human understanding on any logical level. It is not because people blog about her that she is still around. It is because the media gets significantly more traffic any time they can find away to carry her latest way of re-insinuating herself into any ongoing or new story, because they make $$$$ every time her name comes up. They are as desperate as she is.
That being said, firedoglake does not carry very many Palin stories, and more often than not, when fdl does, our commenters show a remarkable disinterest in Palin, which is mostly good.
Sarah Palin is nothing more than the Paris Hilton of politics. They both thrive on media attention, but have nothing sustantive to give in return. She let me know how clueless she was when she took Trumps lead and ate pizza with a fork.
RFShunt – thanks for explaining. Your idea got my vote.
Even Sarah has Palin fatigue.
Leave Sarah alone! I mean it!
She ain’t running for president.
Oh, yeah? Was Ronald Reagan, the patron saint of the Republican party, an actor?
Oops! Good point, Ms. Winkle. Never mind.
With Palin’s biggest patrons, Murdoch & Ailes, currently under intense scrutiny, it’ll be of some interest to see how Palin fares. It seems to me that Palin’s mainly be “carried” by Fake Noise since the disaster of the 2008 General Election failure, following closely by the 2009 “I Quit.” Seems as if Palin’s “star power” is fading lately, and notwithstanding her media-whoring at the Rolling Thunder event on Memorial Day, one doesn’t hear much about her anymore.
I think also too Glenn Beck was a huge cheerleader/booster for the Quitter, and Beck’s been booted off the tv & his “star power” – what with the revelations about his GoldLine con-job, etc – has been on the wane, as well.
Of course, Beck/Palin die-hard fans will cling to their tin-pot “gods” no matter what, but it seems like more of the populace has lost interest in both Palin & Beck, the consumate con artists.
Every dog has his or her day…
Neither is Rupert Murdock but they both traffic in lies and delude a good number of people, fouling the waters of good political discourse.
Demagogues are dangerous.
I like comparing her to Britney Spears as Britney was during her meltdown phase.
