For reasons that could make sense only to the "effing retarded," the Obama White House has chosen not only to ignore virtually every Democratic voter group but to taunt them, rub their noses in it, and insult any Democrats who dare to demand better choices than the corporate shills that now control much of the Party and the White House.
Ever the naive optimist, I hoped the effing retarded coward who anonymously criticized working families for trying to get an Arkansas Senate candidate that isn’t yet totally owned by corporations was just showing his usual political stupidity. After all, the usual cowardly "senior [White House] official," Rahm Emanuel, is well known for promoting either loser candidates that alienate the base or those who predictably vote against a decent Democratic agenda. He’s been a train wreck for the Democratic Party, helping Obama kill all hope for reversing a decade of disastrous policies.
But it wasn’t just the usual White House coward spouting off. Today, when reporters asked Press Secretary Gibbs whether the anonymous coward spoke for the White House, instead of saying the idiot would be found and fired — as any rational President would do even he cared only for his own political success — Gibbs essentially said yes, the White House endorsed the underlying message: unions and others unhappy with corporate Democrats should not be working to replace them but instead support Democrats in the general.
Oh really? Well, screw you and your anti-democratic views, White House.
So let’s see. In just the last year, the White House has managed not merely to ignore and disappoint but often gone out of its way to mislead, lie to and betray liberals/progressives, labor unions, teachers, Hispanics, gays/lesbians, anti-war groups, dedicated environmentalists, respected pro-employment/pro-growth Nobel economists, climate scientists, financial reformers, defenders of Medicare and Social Security, mainstreet populists, civil liberties and women’s rights advocates, defenders of public interest regulation, alternative energy/efficiency supporters and even scarecrows.
In case you don’t recognize the list, they’re the core, the heart, the brains and the foot soldiers of the Democratic Party.
It’s practically everyone that makes the Democratic Party worth having as a party. They’re the people who’ve advocated effective governance and defended rationality against mindlessness, and who’ve spent years working in the public interest. They put Obama in the White House and Democrats in the majority to return their values to governance. And without them, who’s left? What’s left of the party?
Apparently, the Obama White House thinks they don’t need the Democratic Party as anything other than an empty, mindless shell. They don’t need the people and groups who’ve made up the party for decades. They don’t want anyone but unthinking, acquiescent shills, willing to rubber stamp corporate hacks, half-assed policies, broken promises, missed opportunities, discredited free-market rhetoric and pandering to nihilist nonsensical Republican "ideas" and "good faith," and who won’t complain as the disloyal opposition and crazies do and say everything they can to destroy political discourse and delegitimize government that functions in the public interest.
This is apparently what the White House wants, because that’s what their words and actions tell us. Screw the party; screw its most loyal members.
Well, screw you too, Mr. Obama. You have this backwards. It is we who don’t need you and your crowd. We know whose ass to kick. With no party behind you, it’s one term and out. We want our party back.
John Chandley

Thank You!
whoa – Scarecrow throws down! awesome.
Thanks, Scarecrow. Perfectly said.
Somehow “Thanks!”, “Damn!” and “Kickass!” don’t do this justice.
Recommended.
booyah!
thanks, scarecrow. very cathartic.
It’s frustrating to agree with my wingnut relatives but for different reasons. confusing times.
recommended and tweeted…. excellent rant scarecrow. you put into words what i’ve been feeling and unable to express.
so if you feel this way and can’t express it, does that make you an Obama apologist? :P Survey says…Yes!
“We want our party back”; they have it back. See Harman/Winograd. See the Supreme Court killing AZ’s public financing law because it discriminates against the rich. See CA approving Prop. 14 and defeating Prop 15.
It’s still a money game and they are making damn sure the sheep don’t get too much of it.
Once again the White House must humiliate and punish liberals and progressives for having the nerve to stand up to the DNC and their corporate masters.
Maybe this old diary is less a satire of the White House’s contempt towards liberals/progressives and more a trenchant analysis of their true psycho-sexual relationship.
This is what I tweeted this morning (don’t know if Emmanuel was behind Clinton going down there):
“Thanks slick Willie for propping up another DLC neoliberal corporatist plutocrat Blanche Lincoln-snake oil.”
btw-I dont entirely blame Emmanuel, although he is a weasel. As far as I’m concerned, Obama was a trojan horse DLC neoliberal corporatist candidate who pretended to be a semi- or even at time full progressive during the campaign.
There is the corporatist part of the Democratic party (the part with the most power of course that is part of the corporate plutocracy) and the progressive populist part. >>>
Time for the Green Party or a new Progressive Party (except we don’t have a Parliamentary system which would represent minority parties). How can the Democratic party go on with this kind of split?
Well, I agree with the sentiment, but I hope that in all of the “Obama sold us out” talk that it isn’t lost that looking for a progressive savior determined to further the ends of working people AND who can rise through the ranks of the democraven party is a fool’s errand. The only thing we will EVER get from the democraven party is shit on, every single time.
Thanks for pointing out the real costs of Rahm’s attitude, Scarecrow.
And what a righteous rant by Big Ed!
Where’s the Recommend X 1,000,000,000 times button?
Weeee!
Maybe Rahm just wants old white men as their base.
Who shall we vote for for president? Let’s all vote for the same person. Someone from the democratic wing of the democratic party? If that even exists anymore. A progressive? Who? Let’s all vote for the same person to get our message across: “Fuck us, we’ll take our marbles somewhere else.”
Alienate the few liberals/progressives who want to see what is best for the majority – perhaps. Alienate the self-absorbed, SUV driving, happy chanting Democrats – not a chance. Rahm isn’t a critical part of Team Obama by mistake. The “effing retarded liburls” are too busy trying to figure out how Rush could afford his latest wife and what they might have to do to get to the same place.
Oh, and recommended!
OT but not so much… Oh the state of America (well the South anyways)! Is there any hope?
So where was the DNC [Tim Kane] (our v. own Brownie?). Where’s that 50 State Strategy again? Is there any strategy at all?

We know whose ass to kick indeed. It starts by staying home on election night and watching the corporate dems get their asses kick in 2010 and ultimately 2012. Obama will be on his knees begging for support in 2012, count on it.
Sometimes there are no good choices. Picking the best of the current bad lot may actually get us back to where we already are. Too many sellouts dependent upon a scheme that promotes only those willing to do the most for their corporate lobbyists has created a pool of lesser evils.
Who’s John Chandley? Is he the author of that rant above?
Loved the rant, loved Ed Schulz vid, too . . . .
And screw you Obama and Dem Corporatist Party as is . . .
Your reckoning IS coming come ’12. Nov. 10 might not be so kind, either.
As droves of Dems leave the party or make their dissatisfaction fully known, the Dem Party is gonna take Obama’s elbow, take him aside and tell him he can’t run again. He’s destroyed the party in less than two years.
Harumph.
Obama, like Bill Clinton before, will cry all the way to the bank. Count on it.
You know in a White House like this one “effing retarded coward” doesn’t narrow the field much. In retrospect, breaking with Obama back in July 2008 was one of the best calls I ever made. Obama and the Democratic leadership and officeholders don’t represent progressives or even most rank and file Democrats. Look at them. Look at the Republicans. This is why I think depression is inevitable.
Dude it’s Scarecrow’s meat name.
SC,
Have you EVER found anything right with the President?
I generally hang up on folks who call begging for money or support from me because I’ve proved that I’m a Democrat with dollars in the past. No more. From now on I’m going to send them off with a flea in their ear. Unless they’re calling on behalf of a treasure like Regina Thomas, who’s primarying my vile Congresscritter John Barrow. It’ll be a VERY cold day in hell before either the state or national party get a dime from me. This faucet has been turned off.
I’m generally cautious when it comes to assuming whether anonymous sources actually speak for whomever they claim to speak for, but I never believed for a second that this was not the White House’s opinion. That’s why it stuck in my craw. Nobody was going to be fired over that statement.
I liked Shultz’s rant, but for once I think he was understated – this is a clear declaration by the White House on where they stand, and where they stand is with people who vote like Blanche Lincoln does. That should be a wakeup call for a lot of Obama enablers.
Ditto.
I could have not said it better!
Scarecrow post sums up how real democrats feel
What’s right with Gibbs’ response? He’s the WH spokesperson. You agree with Gibbs or the Sr. Whitehouse adviser?
That’s the actual topic you know.
Speaking for myself I thought the portuguese water dog seemed to be a fairly nice choice for a pet. Barring the enormous cost he paid of course. Fairly found of mutts myself.
So let’s see. In just the last year, the White House has managed not merely to ignore and disappoint but often gone out of its way to mislead, lie to and betray liberals/progressives, labor unions, teachers, Hispanics, gays/lesbians, anti-war groups, dedicated environmentalists, respected pro-employment/pro-growth Nobel economists, climate scientists, financial reformers, defenders of Medicare and Social Security, mainstreet populists, women’s rights advocates, defenders of public interest regulation, alternative energy/efficiency supporters and even scarecrows.
Don’t forget the Civil-liberties extremists.
You can tell they’re extremist about civil liberties because they think there should be some.
I’m too effing retarded to fill in the little black bubble for another corporate democrat. Yep…too effing stupid.
As one of the orginal Unterbussen (as Lambert of correntewire.com put it so well), I look at that list in Scarecrow’s last paragraph…and I see a whole political party.
Now, can we save the good name of the Democratic Party (the Democratic Wing of the Democratic Party as Paul Wellstone put it) or do we need a whole new name? Democratic Labor Party? Or…?
Good point. It’s getting to be a really long list. Sooner or later, one hopes that the folks in those groups who aren’t yet on that list will look around and realize that he screwed all these other folks, and it’s only a matter of time until he gets around to screwing them, too.
I won’t bother you all , just this one post, what did you expect?
80 – 13 Senate for war
356 – 65 House for war
We can’t vote outselves out of this mess
It is mathmatically imposible.
If you indeed want to change and reform the Democrat Party
you are going to have to administer euthinasia. Kill it , not votes.
so what if the repubs take charge, same difference.
kill the party and start over, it will be faster, more effective,
and promise a better party of the future.
It’s over , can’t you see yet, this is a fascist state where elections
are just a hollywood show, get used to it, we lost the ability to change
the course by elections at least three cycles ago.
We lost that when Carter was pushed over the side. Ever since then the season has been in reruns.
Ah, yes. Civil liberties advocates. I’ll add that.
Don’t let OBAMA Hope A Dope game make you a quitter.
Obama wants to destroy the democrat party, so if you stay at home and refuse to vote for real progressives, the corporate elite that Obama works for will win.
John Chandley just put into words what Glenn Greenwald, Jane Hamsher have been saying for months now. Obama agenda is anti progressive, anti democrat, anti middle classs, he and his kind do not want a real progressive to get into congress or in the white house.
Remember Obama lied his way into the White House.
So when real progressives stay at home and quit, Obama wins!
Welcome to the HOPE A DOPE Obama style
it is real simple tell progressives you love them, and when you get in the white house stab them in the back.
SWEEEEET! That may very well be the line I use with telephone solicitations! I’m all of a sudden too effing stupid to figure out how to write a check or log on or help in any way at all… Just too effing stupid… THANKS!
Please don’t say you were a Clinton supporter?
Let’s just let it all hang out in front of everyone and call ourselves either the Liberal Party or the Progressive Party. Joke ‘em if they can’t take a fuck…
Yes, I wrote many posts supporting the stimulus effort and urging the Administration and Congress to increase/extend it. I supported his statements claiming to support the public option. I cited his speeches several times, and approved of his calling out Republicans on misinformation. All since he came into office. I wrote generally favorable posts during the campaign, especially after he became the nominee. I was much more hopeful then, or naive, or delusional, . . . During the campaign, I even argued he was a progessive when he argued for using government to solve various problems in response to McCain’s attacks. (Hugh will remember that one).
I’ll never not-vote, but I have decided on a strategy this time around. I live in CO-01, so there’s the basis:
+ Re-elect DeGette? No. I’ll write in myself, and I’ve voted for her every time since ’98.
+ Primary SEN: Romanoff, challenger to Bennet appointed incumbent
+ General SEN: Romanoff. He’s winning amongst the state Dem delegates right now 2:1
+ Ballot initiatives: A local list, but includes the odious “Personhood” amendment for zygotes, effectively stopping reproductive rights for women.
I’m not sitting home, no way. Look at your tickets for November, because ballot initiatives matter if nothing else.
Big surprise at “corporate Democrats,” like there’s any other kind.
I like your name !
Well, look who he surrounds himself with…what do you expect. The old Clinton gang. I see that the Republicans are self destructing, but does that mean that the Dems should too…good bye Democrats, hello Greens.

I agree with a lot of what you said, but to maintain order in the USA, the masses must by into the illusion of the American Dream.
The illusion of the American Dream is turning into a Nightmare for both political parties. The GOP has been hijack by the people rich Republicans hate.
Once moms and dads around the USA start saying my kids future in this nation is going to living hell, the USA political system will probably implode from with in.
The elites have been able to keep order in the USA, by preaching to people a bunch of false hoods.
It is easy to have a hollywood election when people have jobs.
The current USA will require politicians to discuss things they really hate, like how to feed americans, how to find shelter and clothes for americans.
Never heard it, that’s why I asked, dude . . . thanks!
Derrick Crowe is upstairs!
Secretary Gates, Backpedaling
Clinton Mr. feel your pain? and then go support and vote for NAFTA, the program that wiped out the USA middle class.
I am not a clinton fan at all.
ENOUGH IS ENOUGH! As Malcolm X said, it is better to be eaten by wolf than a fox. It is time for progressives to throw the kitchen sink at Obama. If there is one constituency that neither he nor the Dem.party can afford to lose, it is the African American vote, progressives need to find inroads into the African American vote on sensitive subjects on which the White House and the DLC corporate cronies have betrayed. Progressives need to find a prominent, respected, African American figure to denounce Obama for the fraud he has been thus far. If a John Lewis, along with a coalition of prominent figures in the African American community (e.g.Gates, Oggletree, Morisson, Walker, D.Bradley, Oprah) would stand up and denounce the administration’s myriad betrayals, THEN either for once this administration may realize the gravity of its political predicament, or it may finally hammer in the last nail to its 2012 electoral coffin. REMEMBER: their is no bitterness, no betrayal more poignantly felt than that of a family member or friend. Beware, Obama – your standing in the African American community is extraordinary, but only recently you were considered as suspiciou, an outsider- more immigrant, and white than black american. Beware of the electoral wrath that will unfold, if you are perceived as an imposter, a feigning family member arrogating community heritage. Progressives must play this card against Obama, – an eye for an eye in this fratricide….
I love the idea.
Slight correction: You’re not too effing stupid, you’re too effing retarded – as we all are.
Are you uber Pro-Israel? — If so, then Romanoff is your man.
The Democratic establishment has got that nomination stitched up either way. Romanoff is a Clinton
obligatedgroomed supporter and Bennett is a ‘hoping’ Obama groomed supporter. From a Progressive Jewish blogger from the state… IMHO an interesting take on both candidates — exposes them both (including funding streams etc):
http://robertjprince.wordpress.com/2010/01/05/more-bennet-and-romanoff/
Gosh, in a primary of Democratic voters, in a year when incumbents are running up hill, didn’t the incumbent Lincoln get more votes than the the adequately financed challenger Halter?
Now, if this is correct, it would suggest that not all Democrats, at least in Arkansas, are alienated.
I don’t think Rahm is the problem in this instance.
Good to know. Coz I smell a whiff of PUMA resurgence on the horizon (media driven of course).

Was the tone from Gibbs intended to convey a thumb in the eye to progressives and Labor???
Great idea. Do you have an idea of what issues to look at?
Obviously it was a thumb in the eye. It was not an apology or repudiation at all. It was simply a more diplomatic paraphrasing of Rahm’s remarks.
Thanks, scarecrow! We don’t need these assholes. In fact, they’ve demonstrated they need to be kicked out of office. Obama plays a nice game, but I’ve seen his mean streak. Yet another entitled narcissist. Nice smile, while the knife goes in the back.
To oldgold, I would not judge the state of the nation, much less the Democratic Party electorate, on the population of Arkansas.
Welcome to the party of alienated progressives, scarecrow. Always room to pull up another chair.
I lived in CO-01 for 12 years (near DU) and in my opinion a progressive party not affiliated with the democravens could win there in a congressional election.
The headline at HuffPo said ‘Gibbs Walks Back Remark’ and I thought thank goodness. Then I read the diary and thought WTF, he didn’t walk it back, he fucking agreed.
oldgold?
Someone needs to see where Lincoln votes came from?
Obama probably use the Black Churches to help Lincoln win.
Clinton also helped Lincoln.
We need to get organized, stay organized, and have legitimate candidates to run against the Democrats and Republicans (better known as the Corporate parties).
Bless you, JC! Amen and amen!
Scarecrow. For ass-kickin’s we can believe in.
Great piece.
From your link, written in January BTW:
Fast forward to today; Romanoff has 2/3rds of the state dem delegates support after the Public Option lie/fiasco that Bennet pulled.
Your source is wrong on many fronts/details.
Apparently Gibbs answered a question on it first, then came back to the topic to clarify — I read the whole as trying to distance from the wording but not the underlying point. So, yeah, I read it twice looking for the “walk back.” More a side step.
It would certainly be ironic for birtherism to come full circle and be used as a weapon against Obama by the African American community – remember early on in the Pres. primaries, there was much suspicion as to whether Obama was really one of “us” because of his immigrant roots, and close relationship with his mother’s side of the family.
As far as issues- I am not involved enough politically on the ground to know beyond ‘jobs’ which subjects are riling the african american community most at the water cooler – there are obviously many, many potential ones: Stupak amd, pathetic health care reform, EFCA, union-bashing, educational policy, Guantanamo (?), general paternalist tough talk concerning family and social ills of urban impoverished black communities……
I do think that if the african american community through its most palatable (to MSM) public figures can mobilize together as a block against Obama, and his general policies it may offer a powerful message. Really, I think of the core activist democratic base, this is the last pillar to fall….
And it is incumbent upon us all to FORCE them to discuss these things. And if we TELL them what we want, and they don’t listen, we vote them out for anyone, it don’t matter who anymore.
I’d suggest, we’ve told them, they AREN’T listening, and it’s time to vote them all out, regardless of the political outcome. Because the GOP will face the same pissed off masses, too, about the same bread and butter issues.
We just wasted one election where we could have beat the Dem’s to death, and we didn’t.
I trust we don’t waste ’12.
It’s time to send a message, regardless if GOP wins it all. They can’t do any better than the Dem’s, and then they will get THEIR asses handed to them on a platter. That might take a full 8 years.
In the meantime, shit’s gonna get so bad that who ever is governing is going to HAVE to face the cold hard facts.
Either they break with their fascist allegiance or the masses are purely doomed anyways.
Not what I asked — “– hawkish Democratic Party power brokers” evidence has shown drop social issues in a second when it comes to the supposed safety of Israel.
On the contrary, if you follow his analysis he is spot on — on many many fronts.
There’s still that funny business about Halter’s best county only having 2 polling places open instead of the 40 that were open 6 weeks ago.
It stinks.
Amen Brother Scarecrow! That sir, is one righteous rant! Now off to catch up on the thread…
I am corrected.
There’s a lot to be said for this . . . . we’re all disenfranchised from Obama’s policies, the African American’s have HUGE unemployment figures in certain demographics . . . . are in are once again, a new Selma is at hand.
Only this time NONE of us, regardless of color, can attend the school, or ride in the front of the bus.
Ironic as shit, too . . . . .
Larue I agree, but we have one big problem, the Rich Republicans hate the tea party.
The upcoming elections are going to create some strange alliances.
The TEA PARTY is not loved by washington insiders. The idea of a bunch nationalist taking over DC scares the Corporate Elite.
Hold to your seat, this is going to be very, very, wild ride.
I actually care about my district and my representation first. Israel a far down the list issue.
Since Bennet has already screwed me domestically, I’m willing to change him out.
And if you think Bennet wouldn’t go along the WH and the Rahmludniks, then you’re nuts. There’s no reason not to vote for Romanoff in my case.
So?
They aren’t entitled to vote?
Lunacy. Understandable frustration, but lunacy tactically and strategically.
Nah. He got beat across the state and by too many votes to claim it was stolen.
40 polls in one county alone were closed, leaving only TWO polls for the amount of people who turned out to vote Halter previously. That’s the voting difference alone.
Not to mention, a significant amount of ALL voters (majority of previe Halter voters) didn’t vote. Wonder why.
I’m suggesting that your rebuttal of an enraged electorate in AK is not quite what you want it to seem.
So, JC, tell us how you really feel.
It was about this time 2 years ago that I gave up on Obama. The FISA vote was the beginning of the end for me. I have been in various stages between almost hopeful and despondent ever since. I guess it was about 2 months ago or so that I had my crisis of faith—not in my religious faith, but in my faith in the democratic process. It’s gone. Those a**holes in the WH have succeeded where even W’s criminals couldn’t. How’s that for epic fail?
And I keep getting letters from the DNC, DSCC and DCCC asking for money even though I send them back with goose eggs and nasty notes. They are deaf, dumb, and blind.
It may be suicidal-but as the political landscape lies now, you can only choose your own demise, and go down fighting.
I am just saying it would be nice to know where Lincoln votes came from.
Everyone is entitled to vote.
Someone said OBAMA used ROBO calls in Arkansas for Lincoln
Obama is a huge LIAR
An internet buddy and I both think that the Dem Party is gonna pull Obama aside soon (likely just after ’10 goes south) and tell him, just ride it out, you are done, one term.
And we BOTH expect full well, HRC is gonna be tagged it for ’12.
She might even quit Sec Of State to make the run.
Let’s see . . . . for Corp Dem’s, it’s a perfect plan. The loss of us progs will be offset by all those indies and women voters who will flock to HRC’s call.
It’s gonna be PUMA Howlin Time In USA, again.
What do YOU think? What’s YOUR guess?
I’ve raised this issue several times here and on DKos: who says Rahm Emanuel is a Democrat? I don’t think Rahm is anything by principle, he ran Democrat because that’s the in crowd in Chicago. Obama, for my money, likewise. They were looking for a way up and politics suited them characteristically and temperamentally.
No one has ever answered my question. Nor disputed it. Bill Clinton, bless his Southern good old boy, er, whatever, really believes he’s a Democrat. I don’t think he is because back in the day, he would have fit perfectly in the (more or less) moderate wing of the Republican party. And he just cannot resist the seduction of being wanted, the call of He’s the man. You know somebody at the WH was slathering the you’re the man butter to get Clinton down to Arkansas for Blanche, altho, I’m not convinced he made the difference and I’d love to know how Halter went from four up to four down. That’s an eight point swing.
funny how so many that had pinned their hopes on change we can believe in come to find out that this president is no different than any other modern day president who owes their heart and soul to corporate America. There is a cure though and perhaps Lincoln said it best.
“This country, with its institutions, belongs to the people who inhabit it. Whenever they shall grow weary of the existing Government, they can exercise their constitutional right of amending it or their revolutionary right to dismember or overthrow it”.
Are you ready to rumble, or are you just going to sit there and stare at your computer monitor?
Yes, that is exactly what you should do – wonder why?
There has been too little of that here today.
It wasn’t Rahm and it wasn’t too few polling stations.
Obama-Emmanuel are just doing the triangulation thing. They believe that there aren’t enough progressives to amount to anything, and that in the end we’ll mostly cave in, and that enough people hate us that they’ll actually come out ahead on the deal.
I’ll never give a dime to the national party again, or a minute of my time, and no one else should either. If you let them channel your contribution, they’ll strategize it, all right. They’ll strategize against you.
Give to and work for individual candidates, especially in primaries. Not the Democratic Party.
I agree that sitting home is never the solution. We all need to vote for the candidates we truly want in office, not those the media tells us will win. In addition, as you mentioned, ballot measures are another major reason to vote.
Where are the Greens a vital party? Maybe in some local electoral districts, but not nationally or even state wide.
Someone said that? And, if someone is correct, so what?
Agreed about the wild ride, most definitely.
We likely haven’t even SEEN strange yet, as strange as it will get.
Factor in HRC announcing for ’12, the Dem Party turning on Obama soon.
Pure chaos is at hand . . . ;-)
and had shut polling stations been a factor in, say, an obama loss in a primary state way back in 08, would that have been obama’s fault?
WH and Clinton did it. Blanche got lucky. Along with closed polls.
And Halter voters who didn’t show up cuz WH and Big Dog convinced them they were doomed.
Oh, BTW, just HOW close was it again?
*G*
There will be a day, maybe not soon, but there will be a day when our national primary system is national instead of regional, and based on runoffs.
That is the day I long for when smug corn-fed conservative dem Iowans and others are robbed of their perch and stranglehold on our system.
Teddy Partridge is upstairs!
CA GOP Ticket Shares One Attribute: Not Voting
On the other hand, the rank and file might not be happy that $10 million of their money was wasted on losing campaigns rather than keeping a Democratic majority.
If the GOP takes over, it’s doubtful any union ideas will be passed into law.
I mean, at least they could have backed winners!
Rahm Emanuel – the gift that keeps on giving. He plans to do with the Democratic majorities of 2008 what he did to the Democratic majorities of 1992.
The Cubs give me more hope than the dems. Not much more to say.
Extemist Nationalist neo-cons have already take over the government and Dee Cee insiders worships them. Tea Party is a creature of K-Street and the corporate fraudsters, it is well documented.
There is nothing… nothing…in Rahm Emanuels’ past that shows he is capable of maintaining a Democratic majority. 2006 and 2008 were more likely an outcome of Dean’s 50 state strategy which Emanuel, in his inifite wisdom, dismantled the first chance he got.
Psst, the current crop of winners is trying to stick a fork in labor (and everyone else on Scarecrow’s list). Your strategy is getting us nowhere fast.
Rahm is one of the best double agents in the game. The corporate elite love this man.
If you need someone to slow down and confuse the progressive movement call Rahm
Lincoln: 124,153 or 52.16% / Halter: 113,852 or 47.84%.
It wasn’t a landslide, but Lincoln had a decent margin of victory.
Posted this elsewhere but still valid IMHO:
Slightly OT:
NO intestinal fortitude to REVOLT
NO masses angry enough to STORM the DC HOLYTHOU
NO in your face confrontations with OUR SO CALLED LEADERS
NO mass boycotts or consequential actions against the CORPORATIONS
NO AWAKENING of the SLEEPING PUBLIC
BUT LOTS of endless talk, apologies, step on me antics, spineless bravado, play nice platitudes, ‘we will get them next election’ BS, ‘we need to go through the system’ uselessness, and the proverbial ‘lets start a new party/movement’ CRAP!
THEY WILL NOT listen, they do not give a fuck, they are souless and degenerate, but many still think the system is curable…IT’S NOT!
What will it take for a great uprising?? Everyday is more clusterfuck events that has lead to America being a snake pit of insanity and misery for the common citizen and those powerless to stop the marching of Facist/NeoLiberal boots on our collective heads.
We are so over…the only thing left is the ‘CLEANUP’!
Thank You so Much!!! I’ve been making this very point in HuffPo for the last year. Each month brings another constituency into the group of people these assholes swear they don’t need. But then have the temerity to turn around and demand money from these very people! I for one am glad they were stupid and arrogant enough to make this comment despite the fact they rigged the election to get the result. It pissed off so many people on the Left that there’s now much more criticism of Obama than the sycophantic support he’s used to getting.
The moderate Republicans?
I hold my nose when I vote for a democrat — the evil that is most always lesser than the ‘unrealistic’ evil alternative. The DP hasn’t been worth a shit at all since 1972. But how to tell others who might consider voting for an alternative? Well, Gibbs and Emanuel have clearly characterized the DP and its true political and social commitments. “We, the morally bankrupt holders of power, spit in your wretched face!” If, after this pathetic display, occurring as it did during this critical moment, the Democratic Party left were to fail to run from that enclave of the vicious and stupid, then those who are committed to democracy and progress ought to conclude that these partisans are committed to neither democracy nor progress.
Thank you ED, you hit the nail on the head. What the hell does Obama think he’s doing backing Lincoln?? It’s shocking. Completely shocking. And talking about Labor like they are their ugly relatives that they don’t want people to know about. Appalling.
The so called “smug corn-fed dems” in Iowa are not particularly conservative.
Plus, if you want to see big money flex its muscle, national primares are just the ticket.
Now, if those polling places had just been left open……
Turn out was only about 80% of what it was for the May 18th primary. Lincoln won because 20% of the previous voters couldn’t be bothered. That is hardly an example of winning hearts and minds.
See, they SAY they want us to quit drinking bottled water because the plastic doesn’t get recycled, but they REALLY want us to go back to our fluoridated-for-mind-control tap water.
Call it 10,000.
Add in Halter votes lost from only two polling places in one HEAVY Halter county.
Let’s count the votes of those who WENT and didn’t vote because of the lines, confusion, or were turned away.
Let’s count the Halter voters who just stayed home in his BEST county, because they couldn’t GET to the only two polls.
Le’ts factor in WH/Big Dog efforts, robo calls. And the media hype, all which jaded other Halter voters and disempowered them and THEY stayed home.
I see 10K votes there, easily. Without a blink.
This was hoodwinked. Pure and simple.
Legally, and otherwise.
Why Halter or SOMEone hasn’t filed against the election due to the decisions to SHUT the polling places is beyond me.
I’m going for the Highball Party – drive the f*cking train over them and their corp-rat owners! (Most of them won’t get it until it’s run over them a couple of times; they’ll be looking for glasses with alcohol in them.)
Thank you, along with shut polls issue, WH/Big Dog and robo calls (alleged robocalls) . . .
Case closed, this was a hoodwinking.
He was not the only one that sold us out… Maybe it’s sometimes ‘better the devil you know’? Other so called ‘progressive’ members may have not been entirely honest with their constituents about their position on health care? Where would Romanoff position himself if he got to be in the Senate? Have you asked him?

Note: Remembering the guy works for the Washington Institute for Near East Policy [AIPAC Associate) there is a ‘Update’ clarification @ the end of the post — after the fact.
But Schenker wasn’t the only one bringing to light certain horsetrading from a certain special interest group behind the scenes:
Well known Roger Cohen, former New York Times foreign editor, pointed out that Obama:

Things are not always as they seem.
Agreed.
Filing a complaint would be political suicide for a politician who wanted a career in the Democratic Party.
If you want to go with the we wuz robbed meme, fine.
It is a damn tough case to make in a 52%/48% contest.
As a union member, I’d much rather see my dues spent defeating someone like Lincoln than have it going toward her reelection. Or any Blue Dog.
Are you for real? That is completely illogical at best and borders on flat crazy.
Well, suicide may be noble when it comes to Masada, but I am more inclined to endorse the philosophy of Col. Francis Marion, otherwise known as the Swamp Fox, “He who fights and runs away, lives to fight another day.”
Blanche Lincoln may not have been defeated, but she and others were very much stung, and as Jane Hamsher points out at FDL, her necessary response to the progressive pressure may well be derivatives reform will endure.
I gotta take Ed with a grain of salt here. Sorry, but where was he back when the fight was over REAL health care not the shiity Corp. rip off we got? he was telling us how we had to take this or get nothing and how it could be fixed in the future. I don’t hear anyone fixing BS with it now. In fact nobody in Congress will touch it with a 10 ft. pole right now. Ed’s all hot and bothered because it means NOTHING and he can just spout off again. When it counted he was right there giving the Corporatist what they wanted wasn’t he?
Hello, Blink
so you think Obama is a Democrat
Obama was not for the public option
Obama is for more war
Obama did not like drug importation
Obama loves the individual mandate
Obama hates unions (seen the health care bill?)
Obama does not like FDR, how is OBAMA HOOVER economic policies working?
Blink did Obama run on the plat form above? No
He lied all the way to the White House
thinking obama is a democrat is crazy!
Thanks Scarecrow, nailed the hypocrisy of Obama.
I agree Old Ed is not someone you want in your fox hole
quoting scarecrow “screw you too obama”
yes. same feelings here.

welcome queequeg! looking forward to reading more of what you have to say. if ya have any questions, ask — you will find we tend to be a helpful bunch.
Ditto that.
Welcome! Got any more pronunciation tips, I could use the help ; )
Barack Obama is the same kind of “democrat” that Richard Perle, Paul Wolfowitz, Elliott Abrams, Charles Horner, Ben Wattenberg, and Douglas Feith were…. Reagan Democrats.
“In addition to Richard Perle, neoconservatives Paul Wolfowitz, Elliott Abrams, Charles Horner, and Douglas Feith were former Democratic aides to Jackson who, disillusioned with the Carter administration, supported Ronald Reagan and joined his administration in 1981, later becoming prominent foreign policy makers in the 21st-century Bush administration.”
They are called “neoliberals”… same thing as neocons.
Saw this on Keith Olbermann tonight. Note the response to Gibbs and the “anonymous source at the WH” coward by SEIU and Eddie Vale of the AFL-CIO.

We elect these Presidents and then they fill the White House and half the Government with political types, and then we wonder why our Government is so political.
We also wonder why political types don’t always seem to smart.
Could it be that not just the White House, but all our Government is run by politics?
Boy this has been real good for the Country hasn’t it.
Yet we all think we can fix and repair the Government with more politics.
Guess what? The people, the people elected last night were from the same two parties that have fucked our Country up. Now this is the way to change things. Hey!
That’s just the problem; they control the Party and the White House.
And they fervently believe that in the end, progressives and liberals will have no place else to go in 2012 but Obama. The scary thing? From all that I’ve seen, I think they’re right. We here at the Lake may do our thing, but we’re smarter, braver, and madder than most tribal-allegiance Dem voters.
Forgot! Scarecrow — Great Post!
lets see, the Dems in the White House (I’m sorry, the “New Dems”, Clinton’s corporate democrats (is there a Clinton in the White House or anyone who ever worked for them?)) are pissing in the faces of the liberals and the progressives and they seem to share some common interests with far right neocons…. hmmmmm…..
“According to a May report (pdf) from the Brookings Institution, a Washington, DC think tank, neoconservatives associated with prominent figures like former Assistant Secretary of Defense Paul Wolfowitz, Weekly Standard Editor Bill Kristol and pundit Richard Perle are still broadly active, despite policy failures associated with the 2003 invasion of Iraq.”
The reason that the dlc’s duo of deceit, the rahmbama team … obama is dlc w/o the formal membership, is that the whole situation (the run-off and the bogus derivatives bill that lincoln supposedly drove, but didn’t even defend and couldn’t even understand) complicates rahm’s direction of the kabuki theatre that has been planned to dump lincoln’s bogus bill. They have absolutely no intention … these two corporate call boyz can’t get enough of wall street love … of leaving that in the bill, but if they pull it, then it just proves what her opponents have been saying all along about lincoln and her bill: the bill has just been a charade to portray her as an antagonist of wall street when she is anything but.
Also, for any of you bill clinton lovers out there, I hope this campaign opened your damn eyes becoz he’s a lowlife sack of shit … he always has been … that has done a hell of a lot of damage to the party and it’s about time you f’ing morons faced up to it.
Z
To me a democrat is someone who wants a job in government, and who also wants to maintain the status quo of corporatism, and who has found a way (combined with our single-member-pluralist-don’t-waste-your-vote-system) to trick workers into voting for them by throwing them just a few more bones. By that standard Obama is playing the part of a democrat to fullest extent possible.
amen and rec’d.
I’ve been watching Star Trek re-runs and just realized who is in control of things in our quadrant of the planet. It’s the Ferengi with their little whips to keep anyone who interfers with corporate business subdued.
thumbs up! rec’d.
on a global note:
Class Struggles Heat Up in Greece
“Mobilizations against this austerity drive are spreading across Europe. In France, strikes and demonstrations were held on May 27 and a day of actions is planned for June 24. In Portugal, 300,000 working people demonstrated in the streets of Lisbon on May 30 to express their rejection of the socialist government’s austerity plan. In Spain, public employees took to the streets on June 2. In Italy, a national demonstration was held in Rome on June 5, with strikes and other actions planned up to June 14. In Great Britain, the unions and left-wing organizations are organizing a day of demonstrations on June 22. In Romania public employees took to the streets on June 4.”
“We’re sending from Athens a message of struggle and resistance to workers of all the European countries, against the barbarism of capital markets, governments and the European Union. The government, the IMF and the European Union have decided to drive the workers, and Greek society, to the most savage social barbarism that we have ever known. They’re levelling workers and society down to the bottom. They’re stealing our wages, they’re stealing our pensions, they’re stealing our social rights, they’re stealing our right to life. They’re imposing the law of the jungle in work relations,… reducing the wage rate for extra hours. They make it possible for employers to lay off an older employee and hire, with the same money, three or four young workers under precarious conditions.”[4]
“Every progressive-minded person hails Greek labour’s resistance to the dictatorship of finance capital. The mobilizations of the past three months have been worthy of the political legacy of the struggle against the junta dictatorship (1967-1974) and of the earlier resistance to fascism. Many crucial questions are yet to be settled.”

“How can the Democratic party go on with this kind of split?”
No matter how often they get kicked and crapped on, progressives show up at the next election and vote for the democrat, mostly out of fear that the republican will be worse. We have to stop giving our vote to the least worst. we must recognize that things may have to get worse before they can get better.
Hear, hear.
What does Obama think he’s doing backing Lincoln? Probably the same thing he thought he was doing when he backed Lieberman…even after Lieberman freaking lost the Connecticut Democratic Senate primary.
Upthread someone asked what actual proof there was that Emmanuel or Obama were Democrats rather than just men who ran as Dems because it was politically convenient and because Dems control the power base back in their home of Chicago. I second the question because for men who claim to be Democrats, they sure act like Republicans.
I was a loyal Democrat for my entire adult life. No more. Obama did that. Reid did that. Bill Clinton did that. Rahm Emanuel did that. Hoyer did it. Lincoln did it. Feinstein did it. And it makes me ANGRY.
The Democratic Party I thought I was supporting? It doesn’t exist.
Oops. Never mind…
Clinton’s corporate Dems? Uh…no. They’re Obama’s corporate Dems. Obama is president. Bill Clinton is not.
Thats the plan… of the strawman. Getting it done too..
I think we need to pay attention to Europe and protest.
Hm. Fascinating how everybody sounds just like Ralph Nader these days.
well said! who does one vote for? does one’s vote even count? I feel like I am on the Titanic. If the GOP wins, we sink, and they blow holes in the ship to make it sink quickly. If the current crop of corporatist Dems win, we sink, slowly, whilst they administer bipartisan spineless bandaids to the gaping holes in the ship
either way, we sink.
They’re not going to give it to you. And moreover, they shouldn’t. Because its name is so tarnished, no one can run for it without a burden of collective guilt.
Your outrage is brilliant, but yet again, completely ineffective. What is anyone supposed to make of that last line there? It’s ridiculous when you analyse it.
You wouldn’t have to rail against the injustice of ‘them’ stealing your party if you’d just do the obvious and form your own and channel your energy into killing the Dems, and the Repubs, as the common enemy of all ordinary people that they are. What on Earth are you waiting for? And how can you not see how incredible what you write is as a result of this blindingly obvious inconsistency in your position?
I simply do not understand almost any of you people here. And you are apparently as ‘Left’ as it gets in the US.
uh… yeah.
The Clintons CREATED the “New Dems”… the “corporate Dems” that’s why I say “Clintons corporate Dems”.
The Clintons ALSO run the Obama White House. Care to take a stab at how many Clinton re-treads are in the Obama White House right now?
They also dictate what Obama does to him… don’t believe me, Google what the first lady called Hillary one day…. (hint: Madame President)
Absolutely agree. Is there anyone out there who will challenge Obama in 2012? Mr. Emmanuel represents the huge lie which was Obama’s campaign.
Hi phred, Thanks for the welcome, as far as pronunceation, Queequeg was a fictional character in Moby-Dick by Herman Melville. Not that you will see this but “Quee-quay” is how you say!
Is there a user guide for FDL? OPS! I found the tool box, never mind.
This is from 2008.
“[...]
In an outpouring of rage across Athens, high school and university students joined self-styled anarchists in throwing everything from fruit and coins to rocks and Molotov cocktails at police and attacked police stations throughout the day.
“Cops! Pigs! Murderers!” protesters screamed at riot police.
Rioters torched the capital’s massive Christmas tree in central Syntagma Square. As the hooded youths moved on, some posed for photos in front of the blaze, and others sang the Greek version of “O Christmas Tree.”
Dozens of shops, banks and luxury hotels had their windows smashed and burned in another night of lawlessness yesterday as youths fought riot police. Black smoke rose above the city centre, mingling with clouds of tear gas.
The windows of two of Athens’s luxury hotels, the Athens Plaza and the Grande Bretagne on Syntagma Square, were smashed. A hotel guard at the Athens Plaza said its guests had been evacuated.
A lone man with a bucket of water struggled to extinguish a fire in the ground floor of the foreign ministry, opposite parliament. Fires were also reported in the office building of an airline and a Greek bank, as well as in tens of other stores in most of Athens’s major central streets.
Rioters, meanwhile, set up burning barricades across downtown.

Good to see the left leaning Democrats are finally learning what Nader tried in vain to teach them. It’s probably too late now. Anyway, there is no need for me to continue to scold y’all. I’m out of here. Thanks for all the fish.
Best luck.
John, I agree with all this, but the question remains–what is to be done. Rahm’s inescapable response, when boiled down, is “so what? where are you going to go, if not here? Who are you going to vote for, if not us?”
We are passengers in the back seat of this vehicle, whining about the trip.
“Gibbs essentially said yes, the White House endorsed the underlying message: unions and others unhappy with corporate Democrats should not be working to replace them but instead support Democrats in the general.”
Gibbs, Emmanuel, etc need to get out on the streets and get out of their bubbles people are pissed. Emmanuel should have to spend some time knocking on doors in rural Arkansas. Get out of that multi million dollar bubble he lives in. Obama could easily be a one term President.
lecturing the unions and progressives just is not going to fly
But the sad fact is Leen, he actually doesn’t need to do any of that. Because, as ineffective as proper opposition to the two wings of the corporate party is, he can happily sit in his house, snearing and swearing at the ‘retarded ones’ out there, and the truth is, he’ll probably get away with it.
The message is. Oppose the Democrats as much as the Republicans. And the logical way to do that is from outside both, in a separate party.
This is why I and others call it the Democrat Party as opposed to the Democratic Party. There is no longer anything democratic about that institution.
Rahm Emmanuel, the Bela Lugosi of the W.H.
Goddamn, this must have been cathartic for you, sir. This last election is the final time I plan to vote(for a real person, at least). Next time, I’ll put my faith in Batman or Donald Duck.
a great post on the same topic from Glenn Greenwald today.
y’know scarecrow, these things you are realizing recently have been apparent to many for a long, long time.
you “want your party back”?????
what a joke, it hasn’t been ‘your’ party since when, the 1960′s? the 1930′s or 1940′s? almost fifty years ago at the earliest?
give up on the Donkey finally, after all it has done to obstruct the goals it claims to seek.
yup!
Is the White House simply acknowledging that they are powerless in the face of Corp control? Maybe this is an admission of how the people have lost all control of their government. Just wondering?
How can the Democratic party go on with this kind of split?
Because this November DailyKos, the unions, and the rest of the progressive infrastructure will tell us that we need to support the Dems because the alternative if worse. Wash, rinse, repeat.
Nothing will change until the voters change their behavior.
Who are these real progressives that people are refusing to vote for by staying home? I haven’t seen a real progessive since Howard Dean left the stage. I have a choice this November to vote for Barbara Boxer for Senate and an 80 year old Jerry Brown for governor. How is supporting either of them going to help our cause? How does Obama win if I withhold my vote?
Why is it that withholding one’s vote is considered an abdication of responsibility? I don’t see it that way. Just the opposite. Voting for someone, anyone, instead of the Republican is part of the problem. Please stop telling people that if they don’t vote, Obama wins.
Glenn Greenwald has an excellent post on this matter this morning:
I suspect that, for whatever reason, Emanuel is deliberately sabotaging Obama. His first loyalty is Robert Rubin and Wall Street.
No, I can’t buy that. In some respects I think Rahm is more Biden-like than Biden, in that he’s going to bark out this stupid shit from time to time. It’s the price you pay for having an aggressive bastard on your team.
Intentionally or not, the line of thinking that led to that comments is likely to limit Obama to a single term.
figaro
I agree with you, I am not saying to go vote for phony Dems like Blanche Lincoln,
You are very correct it is very, very, hard to find any progressives in congress today.
Howard Dean is rare breed these days within the Dem Party
Obama mission seems to be to hamper and destroy the progressive movement, getting progressives out of politics and keeping them out of congress and the white house, are what Obama masters want him to do.
Figaro, I just think Progressive have got to face the facts about Obama he lied his way into the White House.
Obama never talk about how he hated the Public Option and love the Individual Mandate on the campaign trail
Obama never talk about the taxing Union Health Care Plans on the Campaign trail
Obama never talk about dismantling social security on the Campaign trail.
Obama is a trojan horse.
Obama number one problem is none of his HOOVER economic policies are going to work, un-employment is going to keep going up, the number under employed is going to keep going up, if you are a smart and ambitious dem you probably want to run from OBAMA as fast as possible.
You are correct voting for a phony Dems like Blanche Lincoln is not going to make things better. I would not vote for BLUE DOGS.
Our goal should to be to get a couple real progressives in CONGRESS this year.
You forgot one major faction, African Americans. Other than that I totally agree with you. I’m tired of people defending this president by saying he has republicans to deal with; well they are republicans, but they are in our party, they’re called moderates and centrists, but are nothing more than corporatists. So no, because Rahm chooses to support candidates who are nothing more than DINO’s, the Democratic leadership has resigned themselves to be nothing more than mildly better than the Republican party, because what they call “progressive legislation” is nothing more than republican-lite legislatin that does nothing but maintain the status quo.
if there’s any good coming out of this, it’s that Rahm has pretty much shot his chance of running for office successfully.
Who’s going to want to campaign for a guy who will turn around and insult you at every opportunity?
sure enough.
thanks for link to Glenn Greenwald article
Great post.
The psychology eludes me, but they actually seem to enjoy insulting the people who vote for them. Taking a stab at psychoanalyzing, which is not my strong suit, I’d suggest that perhaps, being beholden to their corporate masters, they make themselves feel superior by slapping the people they believe are beneath them.
As far as the question of not voting goes, I’d suggest that people try to vote for a third party candidate if they can’t bring themselves to vote for the Democrat on the ballot. Remember, the news doesn’t usually report the results in terms of percentage of eligible voters but in term of percentage of votes cast. If you fail to vote, the news won’t be that voters were disaffected but that the country has swung towards the right.
On of the biggest mistakes Nader’s supporters have made was not wearing Al Gore’s defeat like a badge of honor. Rather than sticking their tails between their legs when confronted with their culpability they should say, “Hell, yeah! And we’ll do it again if you don’t give us what we want.”
The people Obama’s alienated are much broader than Nader’s supporters were. These groups need to show Democrats that they can’t win without them.
Mayor Daley, aka Mayor Privatize, dirty corp’s best friend, is the model. He’s almost a shoe-in for re-election.
2012, You got that right, Scarecrow. Now all we need to do is like Democritus, find one honest real Democrat with the stature and the balls to challenge Obama in the primaries and the general election! The ghost of Ted Kennedy should walk the land, cause with all due respect to his memory, I would suggest he would roll over in his grave if he could see the man he endorsed today!
Over @ Americablog — they have more:
http://www.americablog.com/2010/06/schumer-pumped-that-lincoln-beat-unions.html
Hmm… And some people here wanted Chuck Schumer as our next Majority Leader!
Please try to understand the Teabaggers came after the Repubs with Pitch Forks, and guess what, the Progressives could learn something about going after the Corporate Dems. This is what we get for acting like Apple Nerds, abandoning Hillary and jumping on the latest and greatest untested product. After all, it was she who articulated the regular folks policies and procedures during the campaign, but no we fell for the new inexperienced model. She is a helluva lot more in tune that her husband.
Wasn’t that Diogenes? If so, it would be appropriate since Obama’s turned me into a cynic.
But progressives have nowhere else to go…
Yes, they do. Home, and stay there.
At least with Republicans in power it provides a focus for opposition.
Thanks for bringing that up.
What progressives need to do is keep reminding the Democrats of “the other lesson of 2000.” The Gore lost, because he and Clinton pissed
offon the base. And that Asshole, Clinton, is still doing it.Bullshit. Hillary is a card-carrying member of the DLC, and last week her husband trashed the unions every bit as much as Rahm Emanuel did this week.
Hillary is definitely not a better alternative.
Well, I thought the people who were suggesting that the Democrats would try to run Hillary in 2012 were speculating wildly until I saw this. Would you be so kind as to give specific references to her populist policies rather than a vague appeal to emotions? Not being an “Apple Nerd” your comparison doesn’t make me flinch.

We need to be giving our support to candidates and organizations that we trust are progressive. No more money to Mr Jingle ling (Tom Kaine look up Mr. Jingle Ling at Haleys on google you will see what I mean)of the DNC, no more DSCC or DCCC. They will just spend it on conservadem races to elect people like Lincoln, who actually chose to filibuster with the Repubs. There is no rational reason to support a party because at one time they used to support progressive issues. These corporatist don’t in any way support progressive ideas. All of the progressive promises have been watered down, delayed or tossed. Lilly Leadbetter no enforcement, Healthcare no cost protections with mandatory enrollment, Stimulus hardly any money for infrastructure and most not spent, FISA, Gitmo, Iraq, Afghanistan and finally Financial reform that only has a strong derivative amendment as cover for pretend populism of Lincoln which will be pulled out before becoming another weak shell with a populist title. This is a Nelson Rockefeller moderate Republican administration. For god’s sake, his health care bill is a rip off of Bob Doles health care response to Hilary.
Only give of you time and money directly to the candidates you know are progressives. We have had the “60″ Senators made up of conservadems, how is that working out.
Two more excellent postings on this matter.
Digby, “Where did the love go?”:
Sam Stein,
Gotta realize the Dems certainly knew of Mr. Greene’s little problem, but left him hanging in the wind. Now, no Dem will oppose old Jimbo because Rahm and Obama WANT him to stay right where he is.
These guys are so cynical, so evil, so two faced, this is no accident.
They are using the Democratic base. They are irritated that labor didn’t accept Obama’s annointed choice, like he’s some kind of fucking king. They’re really bad people, thre worst to ever occupy the WH.
People must understand this once and for all. All it takes is one look at his cabinet and the writing’s on the wall.
Do not vote for anymore Dems, period. Leave them to hang out to dry.
So, we’ll get more Thugs. How much worse could it be?
We might even get some kind of restraint on this Corporatist Whore, Obama.
Bottom line, it will be an improvement because the remaining Dems will fight the Thugs, instead of sucking off Obama as he slashes the middle class to the bone.
Per Greg Sargent:
Damage control. Like this bs WH press release is gonna work… [eyesroll]
Dilemma indeed.
I most certainly hope not.
Labor in NV is certainly gonna remember this piece of democratic Treachery — and I bet all this hasn’t even sunk in yet.

The Democratic Party definitely self-destructing.
Rahm has done this way too many times — and gotten away with it! — for it just to be seen as a little slip-up or misunderstanding. IMHO
Wow! Deja Vu… That is precisely the sentiment that I heard coming from P.U.M.A. corners during the latter part of the 2008 Primaries.:)
Believe it or not, a letter begging for money arrived in my inbox with Schumer’s name attached referencing jobs, unemployment and the importance of the grassroots.
Let the corporations give them money.
Don’t get me started on Schumer.
Agreed! This is completely who he is, both in terms of political orientation and in terms of modus operandi. He hates liberals and progressives, and when he was in charge of the DCCC, he would solicit Republicans to crossover and primary against them. And he hates unions. And he loves BlueDogs.
Per Sam Stein at HuffPo:
Lincoln is fatally wounded, politically speaking.
John Chandley is Scarecrow. He’s been going public lately.
I wish it were so. But “they” have the Party machinery. Either we take it back, or we leave and go third party. Which will it be?
Sorry. Bela Lugosi was charming.
I think janitors have unions,too.

“And by their fruits, ye shall know them.”
And, “the nut doesn’t fall far from the tree.”
I hope so. I’d prefer a Republican sitting in that seat and Lincoln’s voice gone from committees. Maybe her loss and the loss of a few others would motivate the Democrats to get rid of the filibuster.
You’ve spoken for all of us Scarcrow. Does that mean we leave the Party and start a new one?
The average voter in Arkansas was confronted with commercials that painted Halter as a guy who sent our jobs overseas, and Lincoln as a progressive who was fighting Wall Street with derivatives reform, and was supported by a Brown President and a sex maniac prior President, both of whom said Blanche was a good person.
Halter did himself harm by walking away from card check in an interview with Chris Matthews, only becasue he was being too cute when he said the issue was under negotiation and something better was being planned. Most average people recognize doubletalk.
Clinton and Obama pulled in the Black vote, and many ladies sympathy voted for Blanche, thinking she was a woman, not realizing she was also a reptile.

Ed turned in to biggest Obama water carrier since January.
Used to listen all the time. Haven’t listened to his radio or TV since February. His health care sell out was Sickening.

If you listened very carefully to what Obama said during his campaign for the presidency and his actions in the Senate — and just as importantly didn’t say or do, if you paid careful attention to who was backing him, all this would’ve been revealed to you in a pre-election epiphany. This is the lesson yet to be learned, I fear.
That speach Obama gave to the Nobel Committee was an embarrasment.
