This year’s presidential election is one of the most important in America’s entire history and the reason is simple to the point of stark. It is all about who is going to fill any vacancies in the Supreme Court in the next four years.
That simple.
The Citizens United v. Federal Election Commission decision making money “speech” and corporations “people” was a coup d’etat in everything but name. America is now in the hands of its billionaires to dispose of as they wish.
If the Tea Party crazed Republicans win the White House in 2012 and get to choose the next justices of the court, this will mean that democracy as we know it in the USA will be finished and all that will be left of it is a shell.
Here is a shopping list of issues this will affect besides campaign financing;
The implications for such issues as abortion, same-sex marriage, the establishment of religion, affirmative action, the rights of women, voting rights, congressional authority, the death penalty, gun control, and criminal procedure are dramatic. Geoffrey R. Stone – Huffington Post
So that is the bottom line to end all bottom lines. If you live in a swing state that is up for grabs and you go fishing on election day and Romney wins… even your great grandchildren will have cause to curse you.

The question (as always) is what will Obama do if he is put back in the WH? The best predictor of future behavior is past behavior. So if Obama gets back in we should have a good handle on what he might do,,if Romney and bozo get in it is very clear what they will try to do…either way it is not good for the country…I think Obama will get re elected since Ryan is such a ligthning rod and Romney just looks like a panderer w/ stiff hair!
… and the terrorists win yet again.
I heard the same line of argument in 2000. To quote the Who, I won’t be fooled again.
Yawn. Another “vote for Obama because of the Supreme Court” claim. He isn’t going to appoint anyone who would seriously upset the PTB. A proto-fascist like his buddy Cass Sunstein is more like it.
Wake up. The Supreme Court is gone. It was gone when the Demo-craps, including Obama, failed to filibuster the Roberts and Alito nominations. And long before we got those guys the Scalia gang managed to install their own president (who actually lost the election), so what’s the point of worrying about it?
I don’t know that it’s clear that this as the most important election in the history of the country but it is clearly the most nauseating as both major candidates cause me to retch violently.
My vote is going to Jill Stein.
Things are so bad that Obama’s enemies are even helping him. I watched Shawn Hanity on Fox for a few minutes and he did a good job of helping Obama with out even knowing it. This guy is so “wack” that anybody watching would vote for Obama.
I wish it were a clear-cut choice between two substantively different candidates…I really do.
Why Voting for Democrats Doesn’t Help Working People…
T
The Democrats and Republicans use issues like abortion and gay rights as distractions to keep the sheeple voting for them. Abortion won’t be outlawed because conservative women get pregnant too. People in the “faith based” office of the Bush administration were overheard mocking the “holy rollers” as they counted the campaign contributions. What a bunch of suckers we are.
Both Obama and Romney work for the same people, we lose no matter who gets elected. We lose much more if Obama gets elected because he’s the enemy from within, the absolute very worst kind. He can destroy us, and everything FDR, LBJ and many others worked to create much more effectively, under the cover of BIPARTISANSHIP.
Good try, but no cigar, David. LOL!
Seriously, you say: “If you live in a swing state that is up for grabs and you go fishing on election day and Romney wins… even your great grandchildren will have cause to curse you.”
I believe that the best gift that I could give all young people is “to vote out the uniparty.” The LOTE meme just doesn’t get it for my, anymore.
Lakota is right–O will destroy us from within, under the cover, or guise of bipartisanship. x2
But I guess, time will tell. Thanks for your always interesting perspective.
