We thought Romney was secretly moderate, but it turns out that he’s secretly cruel, a social Darwinist just like his running mate. Maureen Dowd – New York Times
What these comments definitely tell us, though, is what Mitt Romney, master consultant, feels his “clients” in the Republican donor base want to be told about this election and what will inspire them to dig deep and give freely to his cause. Assuming those instincts are correct, his comments help illuminate the way many well-off Americans feel about their less-fortunate fellow countrymen – and it isn’t a pretty thing to see. Ross Douthat – New York Times
My opinion of Romney is somewhere between Maureen Dowd’s and Ross Douthat’s. Like Maureen, I have no doubt that Romney is a cold hearted Darwinist and like Douthat I think Romney will say almost anything he thinks his audience would like to hear. I can well imagine him extolling the benefits of “boy love” to a group of well-heeled pedophiles.
So I think the real lesson is that Willard-Mitt’s audience that day were truly cruel, social Darwinists and that Mitt is anywhere the wind blows. Personally a jerk, but that wouldn’t mean very much… anywhere but in the White House, with the button for unleashing an atomic holocaust in his hands.
As to the 47% that Mitt dismisses-pisses on, they sure aren’t parasites, they are fellow countrymen and women… and children. And no they don’t think they are victims… although in fact they are victims (see illustration).
Someday this 47% may wake up and change things, but till then, keeping Mitt Romney and all who sail in him out of the White House, out of the House of Representatives and out of the Senate and the Supreme Court will have to do.

What? In between you say? In between cruel and bullshitter? Hmm. layout that scale for me, comrade.
They’re all cruel and bullshitters too. C’mon comrade, this is A-merka.
I see no unbridgeable gap or contradiction between “cruel” and “bullshitter”, ’tis a frequent marriage made in hell IMHO.
Romney has paid no federal income taxes since he retired, whenever that may have been.
Therefore, he is in the 47%, along with his wife.
Thousands of other very wealthy people also do not pay federal income taxes and therefore are among the 47%.
His grandparents and their kids–Romney’s father, aunts and uncles–were on welfare, so they are among the 47%.
A large percentage of the 47% are seniors, most of whom have turned into Republican voters, for bizarre reasons I cannot discern.
Among the 47% are military.
Also among the 47% are people who pay payroll taxes.
I highly recommend all of the above make Romney’s statement come true–namely that he will never persuade them to vote for him.
Jill Stein 2012!
If enough of the 47% follow your advice, Romney takes the White House… think about it.
If Romney takes the WH it will be because of the people who voted for Romney, not the people who voted for someone else.
That is a curious way to look at. The American system is a two party system, it would be nice if it weren’t… But that is the way it is. I wish Ron Paul was running as a 3rd party candidate, because he would take votes away from Romney… I don’t think Obama is wonderful, I never have thought so, but he is much to be preferred to Romney, the system being set up as it is.
Either Romney or Obama.
And?
A “write in Ron Paul” movement has begun in earnest since Romney began to flame out.
Here’s hoping many join.
If people don’t vote for Obama, it will be because of Obama and the rest of the feckless Democratic Party.
The more I think about it, the more I become convinced that continuing to vote Democratic, no matter how far right Democrats govern and no matter how much Democrats malign the left, is by far the greatest of all voting evils, especially at the top of the ticket.
If you are a rightie or a DINO, by all means, vote a straight Democratic ticket. Otherwise, vote left, especially at the top of the ticket.
Either you give lie to the meme that “The left has nowhere else to go,” or you can keep watching the country go right unchecked.
Don’tchall see it? Barry Soetoro, the master negotiator, will keep all the malevolent forces in check as the empire decays. Vote against Hitler. Vote against Franco. Don’t go White Rose. Don’t go anarchist. You might provoke them.
So how’s Sanchez Gordillo doing comrade?
In order for A to take something away from B, A must already own or have a right to it. Jill Stein isn’t why I’m not voting for Obama. Obama is.
Edit: “B must already own…etc.”
What difference does it make? The same people who ran the White House under the Bush Administration are still running it. This color thing “brown Obama” is the perfect “cloaking device”. You’re fooling yourself if you think otherwise.
I don’t think color has a thing to do with it.
The perfect cloaking device is the (D) after the name.
No different with Obama than with Bill Clinton.
Sorry, it is really depressing to realize that there is a significant difference between the GOP and the Dems… If you really want to see hope and change it has to happen outside the system like MLK and then filter into the system, like his movement did. That is the energy Obama hooked into… I’m still not sure that he was being cynical or just naive.
Still, Romney and today’s Republican party are so horrible that I would vote for any Democrat before I’d see the GOP in power
So well expressed.
It seems everybody here realizes it wont make any difference.
It will make a difference… The Republican party is now the far right, pre-fascist really.
