Abbie has nailed it…. If anything defines the period we live in, it is the sight of a nation of over 300M people, with historically unsurpassed military and economic power in a state of sluggish political and social paralysis… and managing to make such a crisis, one so objectively earth shaking and transcendental, mendacious, mediocre and boring to boot.

Mediocre and boring, comrade? Things are exciting in Spain, no?
Maybe you should be restarting the revolution, eh?

It is better that Obama win than Romney, but having said that the general perception is disheartening… the gridlock, the inequality… there is a term in Spanish, that needs no translation, “fractura social“, that I wish we had in English. The situation is so dangerous and at the same time so banal.

Thanks for the link, David.
I love the word banal. I forget who coined the phrase “the banality of evil,” but it so aptly describes the overall situation.
Hannah Arendt. ;o)
