   The video makes an excellent and important point, but wasn’t it only a few months ago that you were praising Obama for his use of what you called “toy planes,” which were a cheaper form of the carnage you seemed to think was necessary in order to ensure his re-election, which you repeatedly told us was also necessary?

   Now that carnage got him re-elected, you think it’s bad again? Good thing he can’t run for a third term.

   The US has arrived at a point of being totally belligerent, with its finger in every pie, trying to control all outcomes everywhere in the world and at the same a country whose population is completely hysterical and fearful of sustaining casualties at home or abroad and broke to boot. This is what I said, “it turns out that although the USA packs the world’s hardest punch, its jaw is made of glass.” All that is left are the drones. This does not make them either moral or good. Simply this is what the USA has come to. Obama is a politician and he reacts to reality.

   I have no great admiration for Obama, the most important reasons I have ever given for reelecting Obama was that he isn’t Mitt Romney and to keep the Tea Party from filling the Supreme Court. Mission accomplished.

   If he is a nauseating hypocrite, by all means hold his feet to the fire as this video has done.

   Here is what I said in the post you quote:

   Obama is the first president to fully realize that most of this mayhem could be executed just as well, (with less casualties on either side, and much more cost-effectively), simply by using toy airplanes instead of thousands of over fed soldiers at the end of infinitely complex, wasteful, frightfully expensive and vulnerable supply lines.

   Is all this blowing things up and killing people, even with toy airplanes necessary? The unpleasant truth is that “yes” it is. Why?

   In its desire to micromanage the universe the USA has made many enemies over the decades, but the last batch they have made are the first to have ever hit the American “homeland” (sinisterly Teutonic term) and it turns out that although the USA packs the world’s hardest punch, its jaw is made of glass.

   No sooner did Al Qaeda manage to kill 3000 Americans in territorial USA, than the citizens of the United States were willing to lock the Bill of Rights in a drawer and misplace the key… nothing could be more cost effective than to make the Americans scrap their centuries old, “inalienable rights” using only 19 young Arabs carrying box cutters. The asymmetry between the cost and its effect means that it will be attempted again and again. Sooner or later one of these attempts is bound to succeed, it is just a matter of time

   The reality is that any successful, new attack on US soil will spark a fresh wave of hysteria, which would probably destroy the presidency of whoever happened to be in the White House when it occurred. The steps the president has taken to keep another 9/11 from happening on his watch have probably taken more bloom off his rose than anything else. However that is the reality, politicians deal in reality and Obama is a politician.

   Obama cheerleaders seem to be a fickle bunch.

   I’m just waiting for the ruckus when Obama walks out
   of a meeting with John Boner [sic] in a week or so
   and announces how he once again fell over
   to the right and clucked his base.

   . . . but he IS good in campaign mode.
   Got to admit that.

   Me and Obama was strictly a one night stand… Nov 6th, 2012.    Roger Cohen in the NYT:

   Fine words and lofty prayer pack up like cheap umbrellas in a storm. What is needed is the political resolve to confront a scourge. Newtown has become a decisive test of whether second-term Obama is different. The signs are not good. His Newtown speech did not contain two essential words: guns and laws.
