The committee is already in negotiations for the final version of the stimulus bill. Personally, I have been disgusted to see programs that will help those in need slashed mercilessly. In my town, they have been conducting an annual homeless census. Last year, we had over 700 homeless in the county, this year, we have over 1000. Many of these are families, with children in our public schools, they are directly affected by cuts the GOP and "centrists" have achieved. Cuts like
• $1 billion for Head Start/Early Start – cut entirely
• $5.8 billion for Health Prevention Activity – cut entirely
• $2.25 billion for Neighborhood Stabilization – cut entirely
• $98 million for school nutrition – cut entirely
Right now across the nation, public schools are closing, and we are going to strip out money for education?
• $600 million for Title I (No Child Left Behind) – cut entirely
• $16 billion for school construction – cut entirely
These are the people who will be deciding what the final stimulus bill looks like. If we have a chance of influencing this thing, these are the ones that must be influenced. The cuts that have been made will influence real people across the nation.
My goal is to contact them all, and demand that the money that will help those in need is restored. In addition, I want money for all "shovel-ready" projects restored. That is the money that will produce jobs for Americans that need them NOW.
A list of cuts to the stimulus can be found here.

DIGG was open when I got there.
May I suggest that those who contact the conference demand that the $1 BILLION included in the Senate bill for NUECLEAR WEAPONS INFRASTRUCTURE be stripped out.
Hell’s Bells, we already have enough nukes to demolish the entire globe!
We can’t feed our people? We have our own people living on the streets? We allow our children to stagnate in ignorance? Yet we provide MORE, MORE, MORE for Nukes?? NO, NO, NO!
I apologize for the caps, but we need to roar like lions to get this billion for nukes stripped out. It was not in the House bill but was added in the Senate bill.
