Nuclear power is the most expensive technological failure of the modern age. Three Mile Island, Chernobyl and Fukushima top the list of its negatives. But in strict economic terms, it cannot compete. Solar, wind, geothermal, hydro and other forms of green power are cheaper, cleaner, safer, faster to build, require no federal limits on liability and create no radioactive waste. The same is true of increased efficiency and conservation. It’s time to recognize reality and leave atomic energy behind.

unfortunately Green alternatives are no panacea. If it were possible to Walmart solar power, somebody would have. Physics and economics says it is not.
OHH, nonsense! We spend 8 – 12 times as much on grants, gifts, subsidies, tax breaks, and government guaranteed loans to fossil fuels as we do on renewable energy and efficiency. See http://priceofoil.org/
Compare other countries. Denmark has over 20% of its electricity from off shore wind alone. In the United States we do not yet have one off shore generating facility. I guess physics and economics apply to Germany, Spain, Denmark, Brazil, China, and many other countries but not to the United States.
Germany invested so heavily in solar power that the price is dropping rapidly. So rapidly, that they had to cut the subsidies in half.
after Fukushima, how could anyone support nuclear?
renewables are competitive already in some instances, and when you add in the real costs of non renewables,, which includes nuclear, it’s not close.
We are brainwashed into thinking it’s ok to dump into the air, the ground, the rivers and oceans.
I just read that nuclear industry contractors will not build in India, because…. the guarantees of immunity aren’t good enough.
what does that tell you about nuclear? it’s a dead end.
