Another quiet week at Chez Tigre. Everybody slept in this morning. I think they like the new litter boxes but not a one of ‘em has said anything about them. Ingrates.

Nothing in the world is softer and weaker than water;
But, for attacking the hard and strong, this is nothing like it!
For nothing can take its place.
That the weak overcomes the strong, and the soft overcomes the hard,
This is something known by all, but practiced by none.
Therefore, the Sage says:
To receive the dirt of a country is to be the lord of its soil-shrines.
To bear the calamities of a country is to be the prince of the world.
Indeed, Truth sounds like its opposite!

Merry Christmas, holiday greetings to all y’all.
My ride will be here at 1 eastern so I’ll be gone most of the afternoon.
Merry Xmas to you too SD and to all caturdenizens and swimmers in the Lake! Thanks for including Neko on the monitor. I think she enjoys the return of the CRT model to use.
Merry Christmas brotherman. Sorry you will not be around. (yeah, I know, really selfish of me) Hope you have a wonderfull day.
Merry Christmas to Caturday pups.
Season’s Greetings to everyone, and thanks, SD, for including Rod and Sassy!
We are heading out to the farm shortly, so I want to wish you all a wonderful holiday. Hope everyone took a cue from the tigers and didn’t get up toooo early this a/m.
Thanks for the place to get out cats together with their friends. I’ll be going out shortly too, but it’s something I appreciate.
Neko actually let me sleep in a bit. Unusual for her.
Good Morning…Lovely thoughts and pictures. Was there something different about the boxes? Surely they notice.;)
Looks like Rod is really having fun…Being Curious, of course.
One piece with higher sides, no removable lip. The higher sides replace the lip that never prevented litter flying out.
Ride’s here. Merry Xmas y’all.
Merry Christmas all. Hope your day is joyful and peaceful. Spending some time with my daughter. Hope to check back later. Happy Caturday and thanks SD for all you do.
Any Occupy news? Activities….I thought the Statesman did pretty good coverage of the lawsuit….
Appropriate season’s greetings to all here. In our case it’s a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year. We invited someone from church to eat with us who has no family. We would have invited others if they had come today. Our Christmases have gotten simpler and simpler. Whenever possible we recycle stuff that could be well used by the recipient.
Right now we just have one stray cat coming to eat and he is now somewhat sporadic in showing up. I’m not sure why, because we are pretty regular with meal time. We have the two kitties that were to be foster children, but are now part of the family. I would have another dog but Mrs. BearCountry wants to stay with just the cats (this from a woman that didn’t like cats when we married).
I am not happy about having had a bear hunt here in NJ. I think that the main reason is that the sale of licenses provides income for the fish and game dept. The little bear that used to wander around our neighborhood hasn’t been around since the hunt. A hunter could have walked right up to it to shoot it. In NJ, at least, bears are simply not a real danger to people. I would much rather be face to face with a black bear that have to worry about a drunk driver. If injury to people was the real basis for hunting, I can’t figure out why we aren’t hunting drunk drivers.
A side note to eCAHN: I see that we think alike. I thought that I was the only one using the Tito analogy. I’ve been using it since about the time the ‘mission’ in Iraq began, but I don’t remember if I used it here before the other day. Most people just give me a blank stare when I say it.
I also wanted to give a special congratulation to SD for being able to make the Diner so successful with a lot of help from friends. I often can only glance at it lately, but I see that there are always many comments.
Then, on top of adding the Diner to his work day, he is also able to maintain Caturday, a very special place for all of us. I hope that he can keep up the schedule without wearing himself down and burning out.
Margaret, Looks like I got that names mixed up…Great looking cat, there.
Neko looks like a wonderful cat. I’m sneakin’ in here, I know! Shush! Don’t tell SD that I don’t have any cats.
Are all y’all sure Rod and Sassy are cats?
Merry Christmas everyone! Looooove the pic of Rod in the Santy hat, and that Neko is quite a character isn’t she?
They are honorary kittehs.. We also have a bird who joins us sometimes. And horsies.
Have a good day OmAli filled with peace and joy.
greenwarrior! It’s okay, we’ve always made room for ratfood’s Bob, who happens to be a parrot.
You have dogs, don’t you? animal lovers welcome, of all kinds.
I’m just dropping by myself, may be back later.
Had sworn to stay off the computer, but then heard something on the radio that I wanted to look up….
It’s chilly and damp here, so it feels kinda Christmasy to this northern transplant.
Smoodgie has spent the cold weather on the bed in the corner of the porch/patio that I fixed for her. Came into the kitchen long enough for a good scritching this morning, but then nosed her way out the door again.
Nice to see Neko! Yes, switching to laptops and flat screen tvs means our kittehs have no warm place to sleep on top of. And we are deprived of cute pictures.
Bet SD is having a nice holiday dinner with his brother.
Hey, ysp! I thought of you the other day when someone asked on Twitter for suggestions as to how to place a Santa hat on a cat.
Heh. Yes, I responded that the best way was Photoshop. Merry Christmas to you and Abner! (His name is Abner, right?)
Hello Peg happy holiday to you. Great to see you hope you have a very prosperous New Year.
I want to share a Christmas story that I’m sure others have also experienced. Many years ago our family had two dogs and a cat. The cat loved to climb on the tree and sometimes an ornamental ball would catch his eye and he would bat it as hard as he could. We wrapped presents for each of the animals and showed each which package belonged to each. The cat recognized his and didn’t bother with the others. The two dogs guarded their presents, especially my dog which was the older of the two. If the younger dog got too close to her present, the older dog would growl and warn him. None of the animals tried to open its present until the official opening day. Then they were so happy, especially the dogs.
Merry Christmas SD, to you and all yers, hooman and critter . .
Thanks for your gifts all year long.
“I thought the Statesman did pretty good coverage of the lawsuit”
Do you perchance have a link? Think I may have missed an article?
What a cute story! I wish I had such well-behaved animals!
Hope all have a very Happy Christmas and a Merry New Year as well! And Peace on earth and goodwill toward men, too, to all!
I wish I had such well behaved kids. :)
Not a link…Just Statesman.com should get it. (Austin)
Hehehehe. Photoshop is the *only* safe and respectful way to get a hat on a cat. The Christmas collared kitteh above expresses very well the danger involved in messing with a cat.
Lol. Me too. My little one swiped a piece of pie from the fridge the other day and was discovered under the table two fisting the stuff.
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to all.
Love the pix of Neko. Thinking that we need some updated pix of Cooper and CAHNstance and maybe Abner, too.
For SD when you get back: can you provide a link to that hilarious “Obi Wan” ICHC pic from last week of the cat confronting the puppy? Told a friend of mine about it and he’s dying to see it.
Thanks.
LOL It’s the holidays tho right?
Merry Christmas to all the Caturday Denizens,
and especially thanks to SD for giving us all this fellowship – and with kittehs!
;~) I think I found it!
Meow-y Christmas to all!
SD, I saw an ad on BBC America earlier for an AbFab 20th anniversary episode airing (I think) during the second week of January. Chances are you don’t get BBCA, if not hopefully you can catch it via another method.
It’s been a very long time since I’ve been to Caturday, but I surely did enjoy it. Love all the pictures of the cats. Our cats got catnip pillows from my mom (from Santa Claws), and they were in instant bliss followed by exhaustion from too much play for the rest of the day. I like the photo of the chicken in the Santa cap–our neighbors have some chickens who have discovered a small opening in our adjoining fence, and thus I have chickens over to visit the backyard often. Toby the chicken and I are on the best of terms, especially since I gave her some tasty treats long ago which she has apparently never forgotten. She’s quite a character–follows me all over the garden just like a dog or cat might. When she sees me, she picks up her skirts and runs over to say hi–wish I was always greeted like that!
Ah, too early to return; our host isn’t back yet, huh?
I just watched the talking lion cub. Watching the way his opens his mouth wide, to produce that baby sound, you can almost hear the roar that will come out in a couple of years.
I have a soup cooking that I’ve been meaning to make for awhile. Finally got myself around to it.
All the immediate neighbors (in the other 3 apartments in this house) were gone today…three went out of town, and the immediate next doors w/ the kids were at one or both grandparents most of the day…hear kitchen sounds now.
But, when Smokey so desperately wanted out, I decided to let him. Then of course, Pushy and Squeaky wanted to go, so I let them, too.
The latter two came in fairly soon, but Smokey wanted to stay. I found him up on the roof; when he saw me seeing him (from the stairs to the above-garage apt), he tried to hide in a gutter.
Didn’t fit in the gutter, so he went over to the roof to the front of the house.
Later, he got back on the tree that he climbs up to the roof, and went up higher. silly cat.
I left him alone, and a few minutes later he was coming to the back door, ready to come in.
They are all sleeping on the bed, exhausted. Whew.
That is a great story. I can’t imagine my animals behaving so well.
Hi, Votus, nice to see you. All Caturdenizens are welcome anytime.
Love your chicken story. I get quite the mental image of Toby “picking up her skirts and running over to say hi.”
ratfood! Merry Christmas to you and to Bob. Did Bob get any elaborate presents that you had to put together this year?
Hey, Beach Populist – I couldn’t get at the source link for that pic, but you know if you click on “Southern Dragon” at the headline of the post, you get his profile…click on “diary”, and you’ll get the Caturdays. Scroll down to last week. You can give your friend the url for that Caturday. Or you might be able to find it at Icanhascheezeburger with a search. Or just scroll thru to maybe last weekend…it’s be a fun search.
Yup, Bob got a 46″ LED smart TV and sound bar with wireless subwoofer. Also, a wall mount for the TV. Have you ever noticed how studs always turn out to be in the LAST place you drill? “g”
Thanks for the advice, but when I tried to research Caturday, SD’s posts only went back about a week and when I clicked on “show more”, instead of SD’s posting activity I got a bunch of other people’s (Insipid, WendyDavis, etc.)
And I tried searching ICHC yesterday but couldn’t seem to find it. Maybe I’ll make another stab at it today.
Happy Holidays.
Forget my previous reply. Forgot to look under “Diary”. Found it with no problem and already sent it off to my friend.
Thanks!
What did you get? *g*
A nifty hanging toy that includes a chewable duck. Sweeeeet! “g”
Time to get the festivities started here (with a nap). Wishing a splendid holiday to all.
Merry Christmas Tejan hope your day is filled with peace. :)
Ratfood got a new mirror with a busy ball attached to it. *g*
How very festive! Nitey night!
popeye99 – thank you…it’s been very peaceful. Hoping you and your fambly are having a great Christmas, too.
Next year, I’ll send you my stud finder. I never use it.
Kewl. I understand completely. (I went thru the steps before answering you…otherwise, I always forget something crucial. ; ) )
Hi Bear Country:
I hope you see your little bear again, and that nothing has happened to him.
You are so good to take care of the animals in need.
Wishing you a peaceful Christmas with all the animals happy and safe with you.
It was a very restful day with my better half and daughter. Thank you. *g*
Evenin’, pups
I see y’all’ve been enjoyin’ yourselves. Is there anything left in the liquor cabinet?
Welcome back! There’s a few bottles half-full back there in the back of the liquor cabinet…
How was your Christmas Day?
Nice picture selection, btw.
Well stocked over here. Good day?
I just want to take this opportunity again to wish everyone the very best of the season, whatever you personal view of eternity is. This is a great place to visit year-round.
Had a nice day, good dinner. Beautiful sunset, temp in the 70s. Hangin’ in the back yard next to the bay. Tellin’ stories about the “good ol’ days” on the beach with the smugglers, bars, girl/boy friends and the crazies.
Happy Holidays to you BearCountry.
Sweet. Looks like the place didn’t even get trashed in your absence. Nice Caturdenizens
Animal lovers are good people.
I really like the last pic. Saw it the other day. Said to meself, self, that’s a pic for Xmas if there ever was one.
Left you a note upstairs in the nested comments, Bear Country.
Hope your day was a good one.
Uh-oh. It’s early for supper, but…I went in the kitchen to put the last ingredients into the soup…saw BigBoy (his eyes, actually, reflecting in the gathering darkness) approaching the back door, looking hungry.
Naturally, I got food out and put it outside for him and Smoodgie (who was comfortably ensconced on her pillow bed). And when I opened the door again, there was Smokey, and Pushy waiting in the dining room.
So, it’s a little early, and while they get one or two treats when they come inside voluntarily after running around outside, they might be hungrier than usual. Guess I’ll go feed them and myself.
Catching the last run of “A Christmas Story.” Gawd, I love this…loved Jean Shepherd stories since discovering them; a little earlier than my period, but still, so much Indiana of my childhood, too.
Did anyone else write “themes” in school? We had weekly themes right through 12th grade, but they didn’t call them that in Pennsylvania when we moved there. And I never hear of them today.
Okay, hungry felines gazing hopefully. BBL.
Didja see yellowsnapdragon’s reference to it? *g*
Yeah. The purrfect bah humbug kitteh.
I think Neko finally ran out of gas. She’s been bouncing off the walls wanting to go outside…until I open the door.
Hey you! Merry Christmas.
Hi, Peggy! Neko’s a Texas kitty, huh? Temps in the 40′s too cold for her? Or is it raining in your neighborhood?
Hey SD glad you had righteous day. Got Tao Te Ching book yesterday. Can’t wait to dig in. Great kitteh pics as usual. *g*
It’s the cold. She doesn’t mind rain so much.
Back atcha and cbl and the whole, extended family!
Good.
Think I’ll add the other pix I had ready. Bonus for Xmas. Go back up top in a few.
Back atcha friend.
I know that these were extremely polite furries. I think that all furries have some trait that sets them apart and gives their people some nice stories. I’m sure you have some that other people would find endearing, but are not what almost any other animal would do.
Here’s a better pic of Kuroneko, taken with my new camera.
BTW, what is that yellow cat with the red collar? It reminds me of the caption I’ve seen for a bald eagle, “I am smiling!”
LMAO! That middle one is something else!
Nice pic. Pretty cat.
ooooo, what a nice picture. Pretty kitteh.
It’s a yellow cat with a red collar. *g*
Wow what beautiful animal.
SD, lots of nice pics today.
They are fantastic…and Neko is a beauty…Thanks
They are priceless.
I nearly forgot about this:
http://blog.mysanantonio.com/timewasters/
Neko would be blushing if she could read. :)
O NO, Im sure she’s used to adoration….;)
Oh, doesn’t she look pretty there! And somewhat…surprised? Annoyed?
Did you get a new camera for Christmas, Peggy?
Yeah, I suppose. She has me wrapped around her finger, that’s for sure.
That’s her annoyed with me look. I sorta got it for xmas…I won the gift certificate from work during our xmas party lunch and I ordered a camera and a printer with it.
O.M.G.
Whoa, can’t beat a deal like that.
You won? Your luck has changed this year, hasn’t it?
I can see the difference in quality. I love my little camera, bought on sale last year (Christmas? can’t remember. prolly). So easy to take better pix than I ever have before.
Especially when you consider that I was genuinely going to break into my savings to get a digital camera…
I know. Unexpected, isn’t it?
Professionally and personally. Professionally for the better but personally for the worst. I can never seem to put happy at work together with happy at home but I’m not pretending that isn’t a problem most of us have faced.
Congratulations….Im quite sure Neko knows she is a beauty…and she is.
ROTFLMAO! That’s too funny. Poor kitteh!
Wow that is funny. Sorta reminds me of how me and my brother used to act. LOL
Here’s the pic I took for Katrina’s Xmas card. Billy and Linda are just props.
http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7173/6571907663_45529b5d31_b.jpg
Kuroneko is definitely out of gas. She’s in the bathroom linen closet which is her “no estes chinganda” spot.
I thought the swatter might be a litter mate, but that one seems much bigger than the kitten that gets swatted, doesn’t it?
That is sooo funny…the walking one is being sooo careful..Life is hard, isn’t it? Thanks
What a sweet little kitty.
Nice Christmas scene, too.
Nice pics, real nice house also.
Yeah, don’t you like the way the little one stretches its nose out to the watching one…like he might suspect that one of planning something…
Oh, I just saw the new pix SD has put up. Made me really LOL. Hard to choose a favorite…they’re all wonderful.
Thx for putting them up, SD.
They surely seem like they are related. *g*
Well, the kitchen isn’t cleaning itself up…the maid has the day off, y’know, so I guess I’d better go do it. Then I’m curling up with a book again.
And a last Merry Christmas to everybody.
Have a great evening. I am sitting by the fire reading myself. Great way to end the day. See everyone at the Diner tomorrow. Best wishes to all. Thanks SD for a place to be among friends.
Bwahahahaha!
Hola, and happy holidaze to all Caturdenizens.
I am so glad this day is over, the week finished. Whew.
Hope everyone had a nice day, the weather here was beyootiful.
Scrolling thru the thread one more time. I almost missed ya hope you had a great holiday. CYA tomorrow my friend. *g*
Drive-by “Hi!” see ya on the flip!
Remind me where “here” is, bgrothus?
Have you seen this Halelujah, from Alaska? Nice.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LyviyF-N23A
I live in Albuquerque, but on weekends “here” is Los Alamos, where Little Momma lives.
Thanks for the Christmas caturday SD. And Oya everybody!
It’s been a long day, stick a fork in me cuz I’m done.
Thanks everybody for showing up on Christmas. I really appreciate it.
Be good to yourselves, and all other living things.
Namaste
Oh yes, I remember now!
Shite, if ya don’t keep up on everything around these parts, ya get left in the ditch, I see on Elliot’s thread on Hallelujah the Alaska version is posted. Oh, well.
Hallelujah, anyway.
Thanks, SD, maybe I will be able to stop in at the Diner sometime this week!
