Saving one animal will not not change the world but it will change the world for that animal.
Namaste
A quiet week at Chez Tigre. I got Toes’ ashes back Tuesday. Pet Memorial does a bang up job. Nice wooden urn, looks like cherry wood, a paw print in some kind of material and ashes in a velveteen bag. They did the same with Kismet but Toes’ urn is a little smaller and nicer.
I’m very disappointed with ICanHazCheeseburger. They’ve been rearranging the site for the last few weeks and in an hour’s time I found one image that did not have a caption, some of which are really stooopid. So. I’ll be recycling images I’ve used before.
Here’s the only image I found without a caption today.

This the image of the ferals I posted last week. See the grey kitteh just to the left of the little orange guy? She’s the friendliest little thing. She wants lots of attention and every time I walk out of the porch she comes running, looking for scritches.

Okay, break out your Shamwows.

Afternoon, firekittehs
Mornin, all.
I couldn’t watch the abandoned goggie video. The first frames were too disturbing.
It is bittersweet but has a happy ending.
Capshuns on ICHC have been very low quality over the last couple of weeks. I wonder if there is a new staff member sorting through them during the remodel (which I loathe).
How’s Nagi these days?
Becoming more mischievous every day. Little stinker is into everything. Now one of his fave tricks is to jump from the bookcase on the wall at the foot of the waterbed onto the bed in the middle of the night. Bounces the bed then runs off. Then I hear his little chirp from another room. Gotta find his stash of Basement Cat vids.
I haven’t seen a format I like yet.
All the makin’s for chicken stew are in da crock pot. Mmmmmm…
Not that I expect you to use all or any, but I’ve posted a few kitteh pics to your Facebook wall. They are pics someone else has posted in their news feed, and I’m not quite sure how to get them from someone’s FB feed to your email addy, so I’ve just clicked “share.” I assumed you looked at FB occasionally.
I liked Cheezburger, but the novelty eventually wore off.
I’ll be right over. Er…
Never got into ICanHaz, but when some one has posted it I usually find it chuckle worthy. When I was posting a weekly cat post at cabdrollery, I found good but not funny pics at the different rescue sites. Of course, now I have adopted kittehs until I leave in Sept.
That reminds me. I copied the image you sent me the other day.
Here ’tis
Cat Olympics 2012
Pretty cute.
Senior moment.
Definitely a happy ending but the net effect was to make me cry like a 3 year old.
Happy Caturday SD & Catizens, Doggyzins & Other Animalizens:
Speaking of animals, a cool link just washed over the transom. Dig it.
Way cool…
I’m not sure what you’re talking about here, but if it made you cry, then that I can reasonably conclude that you have a Big Heart…and that’s a good thing.
Hellooooo? Where is everybody? I wantz to hear all the latest KittehNewz…
Afternoon Catizens.
Well, Dan’l has been in NH with me now for 10 days after my blitz trip to Florida to pick him up. He’s still a bit under weight from being outdoors for 3 months and not getting his regular access to a full food dish.
I have to say that I had really really missed having him lying on my chest with his face in mine or him sleeping next to me on the bed, stretched out along my leg. Just being able to give him scritches behind the ears has helped calm me down a bit.
Cat Olympics 2012 are really cute!
The precious pups and mum video helps keep my faith in mankind intact in these dark times. Thanks for that.
I uploaded two pictures to share. The first was just before Kat went bridge-treking (so December last year). Max previously stayed off that little throw that Kat liked so much:

and the other yesterday before I washed the new from Goodwill comforter cover:

My systolic blood pressure was WAY high on Tuesday, and so Friday I visualized snuggling with Max (sleepy-happy Max, not bitey-mood Max), and my systolic was 110!!!
We had a Danny kitty in Detroit who disappeared for a little while. Turns out he’d gotten into a neighbor’s basement window that was broken, and they boarded it up…eventually somehow he got out. I was away at college but my brother said he didn’t recognize the kitty on the porch, he was so skinny, until the kitty walked and his gimpy paw identified him. Didn’t take him long to be the big boy he’d been. He was orange, and Kat was his “replacement” since my Bernie kitty was lonely when Danny took off for the bridge.
Dan’l had gotten out a couple of weeks after I came up to NH so he was out for 3 months. He got caught in the tropical storm Debbie that locked in over Tampa Bay for a few days plus just generally being outdoors. My guess is the feeding by my landlady and her daughter was not real regular but he is eating pretty much a full bowl of food each day at the moment.
He mighta not eaten much since he missed you too. I’m glad you’re back together. There’s no place like home (and that’s where the heart is!) so now you’re finally home too!
So glad you found each other again.
I would get occasional reports from the landlady or her daughter about seeing him but since I was 1470 miles away, hard for me to do much more than worry. AS it was, when he first saw me on Wednesday of a couple of weeks ago, he gave me a bit of attitude initially but that didn’t last long. :})
That happened whenever I came back from a trip, the cold shoulder act always slipped away pretty fast.
I don’t really have any Kuroneko stories this week. She’s been going along like she always does. I found the left back leg of a mouse yesterday that she apparently didn’t finish. It amazes me how effective a hunter even a mostly indoor cat can be.
That’s wonderful! Glad you two are back together.
That reminds me of the cat my (now ex) husband and I owned when we moved to Michigan in 1965. We moved into an apartment complex that had some buildings still under construction, and Amici got out and went missing. Turned out she had gotten into the basement of one of the not-completed units. We searched and searched the complex and finally heard her meowing and rescued her. She was only gone a day or so, and was OK but it scared us to death!
This is the same kitteh we found under the guest room bed when she decided it was her time to go to the Rainbow Bridge.
I think the time has come to put Caturday on hiatus.
It’s been almost 3 years and I’d like to do some other things on Sundays.
Bummer but can understand the desire to reclaim a Sunday…
Seems you’re not the only one. Kevin Drum has been doing Friday catblogging for a lot longer than three years, but it seems the heart has gone out of it for him now that Inkblot has crossed the bridge. He said in Friday’s column that Inkblot was the motivation for catblogging, and now that he’s gone, Kevin in going on hiatus indefinitely. Gosh, now what’ll I do!
Thanks for your dedication to your creation here SD. I haven’t even been visiting FDL that long, but I’ve thoroughly enjoyed following along on Sundays and chiming in on occasion. If you have something specific in mind that you are contemplating and care to share it, I’m sure I am not the only one who will be wondering. It’s your life and I hope all the best for you with your decision.
You have given us some wonderful hours….You were a blessing for Angela and me. Enjoy your new leisure and whatever you have in mind.
Many thanks….and my best wishes for you ahead. B
Nothing specific, I’d just like to reclaim the time. Working a day job, doing the Diner and Caturday, I wanted some more time for myself.
Yes, you have a post hanging over your head every day but one, what with the Diner during the week. I don’t blame you one bit!
I’ve really enjoyed every minute of Caturday, and appreciate all the work you’ve put into creating our lil’ community. Perhaps (or Mayhaps as you might say) a one link bullet point at the end of the diner menu now and then would sate our kitteh cravings.
With some pictures….;) Those are wonderful.
That’s not a bad idea.
Maybe pictures like this…

Perfect, (smiling here) I wish I could, “reclaim,” some time. Spending it daily, myself.
Big and old, Mcat is snoring at my feet after a walk out to the garden. The cooler temps had her off the cool concrete and acting pretty chipper today. She was willing and came over for a much needed brush and vac earlier.
That’s the problem with LOLcats, I didn’t see anything like that today.
Caturday!! Greetings everyone
SD, can you access this page there? If so, bookmark for the future

and for the record, their redesign is qwite annoyin’
Create an account, go to lolbuilder, choose your picture, and “create” with no capshun. You can then link to the Picture stored in “my stuff”.
Who didn’t LOVE seeing old favorites this morning, anyway?

elliot, that dog is too cool. And yes the cat too.
I saved that one. Thanks. What a pair of beauties.
Oh this makes me very sad. My Mr. Lanahan is missing. yes for about a week. I think he’ll come home but I don’t know. Caturday gave me some good feelings about hard stuff with my animal friends. I’m going to miss you all.
Oh, noe! End of Caturday? I was afraid that might be coming. And I didn’t see Kevin Drum this week, but saw last week’s about Inkblot’s sad demise.
I’m not surprised you’re tiring of the six-day a week grind, plus day job. You’ve hung in admirably a long time, and we’ve appreciated every minute. I bless you, SD, and guests, too, for helping me get through losing Charlie, then Patchy, and last month, Smoodgie. It has helped me tremendously.
Can you get Janis to to do a little diary once in awhile with her marvelous pix of Cooper and Rosie, and and..dangit, failing to recall the spunky one before Cooper…?
elouis, sorry about Mr. Lanahan (what an interesting name!) Sending good vibes for his return home safe and sound.
That doggie rescue video was a heartwrencher. It took forever to watch, constant buffering, but had to get to the end to the happy parts. Blessings on the gentle, persistent man who spent the whole day and was willing to be lowered into a well to rescue all the puppies.
I’ll miss you all.
It’s true, I am very late today – first visit, could read but not type without re-booting (something peculiar about this “new” laptop) and had to go run an errand. Got home, found my lost cellphone behind cushions — plus 7 messages from work about an urgent client (well, client family) problem, sohave been calling and texting about that the last hour. Finally solved, and I could come to Caturday.
Maybe, after the summer, some of us might be willing to rotate a Caturday-like post, sorta like PUAC does.
Guess I’ll have to get up early to visit the Diner sometimes. I’ll be going over links here in a little bit, after I feed myself and hungry kittehs.
Thanks, a million times a million, for all your work, Southern Dragon.
Oh, dakine01 – I’m so so glad the trip to retrieve Dan’l went well. I’ll bet he was one sad cat, and is now all happy again. Once we get used to that warm furry person snuggled against us as we fall asleep, it’s hard to do without, isn’t it?
And the poor kittehs, they just can’t understand when we explain that we aren’t going away forever, so they figure they’d better take off on their own, I guess.
Anyway, so glad that worked out right andyou are together again.
Well, it’s time for me to call it a day.
Thanks, everybody, for sharing this with me for the last 2 1/2 years. It’s been a blast.

Be good to yourselves, and all other living things

Sorry to see the end of caturday. Guess I won’t be seeing much of you at all anymore. Thanks for all you do and all you’ve done Southern Dragon.
And sleep well, and namaste to you, most esteemed and beloved Man of the Cat.
Namaste and thanks for the sharing SD.
