But, he was protesting America’s war against Afghanistan, which is now being waged by a Democrat, Nobel Laureate, so therefore, you will not have seen such news mentioned on FDL, right?
After all, as soon as the Democrat was given control of the war machine, the (D) captured Netroots demobilized, and their oh-so-sincere opposition to imperial slaughter dropped to last priority.
So, venture outside a little your comfort zone, and read about 131 sincere, dedicated, authentic, brave people of principle, getting arrested for non-violent civil disobedience protesting Bush/Obama’s stupid, costly, missionless, unwinnable war in Afghanistan.

There is always some petulance from followers of the Blue Legacy Party when their complicity and support for the wars is pointed out, but I ask you – if 131 folks were arrested at the White House protesting something FDL leadership actually cared about, don’t you think they would write about it?
So, there we go.
Candidate Obama vied with McCain in making hawkish pronouncements about escalation in Afghanistan, and Firepups voted for him in droves.
And now, the site downplays and ignores courageous protest against the wars.
So, take ownership – this is what you support- and remember, Vote (D), no matter what!

First, how is this news? Ellsberg arrested…ok. What does this change? I just took a whiz. Who cares?
Second, I don’t know where you think you’re posting but we’re kinda critical of the democrats. Maybe you could, oh I dont know, read the front page sometime.
Um, actually I LEARNED about the action from FDL, from a diary by Kevin Gosztola; several other diaries were posted specifically on this subject, and the action came up in the thread of a post on the need for mass civil disobedience that spent several days on the Recommended list, and I would remined you that diaries get and remain on the list at the will of the FDL community.
There’s a spectrum of opinion here as anywhere else, and I speak from experience as someone who’s actually been hippie-punched by Jane Hamsher (!) for my criticism of public-option advocacy and tactics.
But to treat this site as a haven for Obamabots is just — to use an undeservedly diplomatic word — misguided.
Thanks, ralphbon — I actually promoted a diary about the protest to the front page, and encouraged posting details about the protest to state and congressional district groups so more people could join.
And Daniel Ellsberg — who I believe “celebrated” his 80th lifetime arrest in advance of his 80th birthday — was but one of 135 people arrested.
Where’s the mainstream media on that 135 people arrested? Doesn’t seem kind of strange that we’re held to a far more stringent standard than outlets which should be covering the White House where one of the protests occurred?
Oh, and I think sporkovat would find there was negative coverage about the continuing occupation of Afghanistan if he’d bothered to look at the FDL front page LAST NIGHT since Siun had a piece up on the topic. Yeah, this piece: Obama’s War Leaves Afghans Dying for Lack of Basic Medical Care.
Not to mention the months and months of coverage here at MyFDL by Derrick Crowe, Josh Mull and Jim White.
There’s a piece in the Washington Post where FDL is cited for its criticism of the White House and that’s not enough. So very sorry there isn’t more anti-Afghanistan war coverage here, sporkovat, and that some of us are actually rank-and-file-unelected Democrats, but our team does occasionally need to go and take the time to kick puppies and eat live babies so people who can’t read and call themselves progressives can have another punching bag. Jeebus.
Yes, Rayne; but will FDL cover the story when Sporkovat is arrested? ;o)
Dammit, you guys, I logged in all primed to jump all over spork myself – but you beat me to it.
Wonder if the oh-so-informed spork is even aware of this, links to which have been posted on several New Progressive Alliance diaries.
Seriously, spork – take a deep breath and search the site before you attempt to mug it.
But even that letter is suspect to some; a blogger at another site I cross-post to warned about that JoshuaFrank, who posts at Antiwar.com, and knows Pat Buchanan, proving Anti-war is an…uh…uh…suspect site, and you Progressives were fooled again! (Ya idiots!)

(I’m Stardust there…)
Can anyone explain why these people were arrested?
what is the charge? will they be convicted?
I don’t get it.
you are new here, newer than me, by maybe 4 years.
So, I know the site pretty well by now, and they know me. Hi Folks! :-)
The criticism of Democrats that is tolerated here is within a framework, something like, “They are flawed, and weak, and incompetent, and yes, often stupid, and we can point out numerous instances of the (D)’s enacting or allowing anti-progressive policies, but still, their hearts are in the right place, and they must be supported, no matter what.”
thus, sites like FDL, help to define and patrol the outer limits of permissible dissent and it is with this that I take issue.
links?
again, links to the diary you promoted?
and, close reading of my diary will reveal that my concern was the lack of coverage of the courageous folks who protested and got arrested.
Siun does great work, but citing her does not address my point.
