Responsibility, from the Wendy’s Web Site
Responsibilities
At Wendy’s we are committed to supporting communities with a focus on children. We believe all children deserve a loving and permanent family and the support they need to reach their potential.
That’s why we support programs throughout the year that help kids in our communities. We invite you to learn more.
The Wendy’s franchise in Omaha has done this:
“Thirty-six to 37 hours a week.” That’s how many hours T.J. Growbeck works at the 84th and Giles Wendy’s restaurant. The money he earns helps him pay for the basics, but that’s not the case for all his co-workers. “There are some people doing it trying to get by.”
The company has announced that all non-management positions will have their hours reduced to 28 a week. Gary Burdette, Vice President of Operations for the local franchise, says the cuts are coming because the new Affordable Health Care Act requires employers to offer health insurance to employees working 32-38 hours a week.
Is it Wendy’s policy, to state one thing on its web site and encourage or even permit it’s franchisee’s to avoid the responsibility in this manner?
Please let us know. Then we will know where not to buy food.
Leave a comment on Wendy’s web site. Let them know how you see this behavior.

Stuff like this was predicted three years ago as one of the many arguments both for Medicare For All and against the mandate.
I’m not defending Wendy’s at all, but what does one expect from a corporation whose goal is to maximize profits over all else? Wendy’s is exploiting its employees for profit, but that is what corporations do. It is no surprise the wolf is acting like a wolf.
But we didn’t elect Wendy’s to look out for our interests. The problem is that the people we did elect to look out for our interests have failed us spectacularly.
It is Obama and our elected representatives who should be bearing the brunt of our ire.
That said, Wendy’s deserves whatever boycott they get.

AHCA was flawed/stupid outcome resulting from the Kabuki Play erected in 2009 about doing “something” about HCR.
The entire concept of national healthcare for USians needed to be released from having the role of gatekeeper allotted to employers/employment premised healthcare “insurance coverage” or premised on employment status/standing having anything to do with USians having healthcare access/coverage. This was the core reform out of several others that was not done — this AHCA being thwarted by a employer ( Wendys in this example ) story shows quickly and plainly why not doing so was a major failure of so called 2009-2010 HCR.
Barack Obama was more interested in piling up political chits and campaign money flows and how best to shake it out of current USian healthcare casino and the big healthcare racketeers heading towards 2012 WH election. Plain to see why AHIP and Obama WH were doing what they did to erect AHCA while sabotaging MediCareForAll early and often during 2009.
Taking AHIP out of USian national healthcare regime and moving towards full and universal one stop shop/one card/one system MediCareForAll fully independent of employement status ( working full time/part time/in between jobs/out of work/seeking work/laid off/unemployed short-long time, injured so on and so forth etc.) and then social/age/income/held wealth status was what needed to be done to solve the exploding costs and lack of held/kept equity, equality and murky transfer of access/coverage issues that infest current employer based and AHIP sanctioned USian HC. Did not happen. Not fixed. Big Mistake Coming in 2014.
