A Boeing 787 on the ground caught fire at London’s Heathrow Airport today.

As expected. When the management decides not to find the root cause and fix the cause, but just puts the inflammable batteries in a metal box, who’s surprised if the problem reoccurs?

The Plane is a hybrid plane. The Batteries are used to save fuel when the plane is on the ground, by not requiring an auxiliary generator to (inefficiently) burn jet fuel to produce electricity. Because the batteries are used to start the turbines on the plane, the batteries are going through the charge/discharge cycle on the ground, the charge/discharge cycle is when the maximum heating would occur.
