UPDATE: Tonight’s DailyKos fundraiser has exceeded all previous dollar amounts for Hell-to-Pay events. Thank you! And there’s still time to donate!
As you probably know, Proposition 8 on the California ballot will enshrine discrimination in our state constitution if passed next month. Marriage equality, hard-won and well-deserved, will no longer be the law in California if Proposition 8 passes.
DailyKos is holding a huge online fundraiser this weekend to benefit Equality for All: No on Prop 8. The fundraiser is a result of an online contest last night to choose this week’s "most maligned campaign" and assist it nationwide — called the weekly "Hell to Pay" contest. After the Yes on 8 ads — that falsely claim churches will lose their tax-exempt status and schoolchildren will be taught all about gay marriage — Equality for All won the contest against several other deserving candidates.
Additionally, this weekend there is a million-dollar match of ALL contributions to No On Prop 8, courtesy of philanthropist Steven Bing and Equality California.
If you can help out with a donation to No On Prop 8 this weekend, the campaign will be able to keep great ads on television in California. Recent polls show that we are losing — keeping these effective ads in front of uncommitted voters is the best way to make up our deficit among voters who haven’t taken a position yet. But it’s important that we get lots more ads up, as early voting and vote-by-mail in California has already started.
Can you please help defeat discrimination by making a donation to the No On Prop 8 campaign? If marriage equality loses in California next month, it will set back the fight in our country for a generation.
To make a secure donation via ActBlue, click here and scroll down to Equality for All. Remember, every contribution is matched this weekend!

Thank you very much for your help in this great struggle.

Thank you.
Thank you! Fwd your email to my entire apple mail list, too.
Some folks who haven’t heard from me in a while are gonna be saying, “What’s this all about?” tonight. I sent it pretty far and wide, too.
Thanks, j.
Teddy:
Keep up the great work. Did you, or Lane Hudson, ever get a reply from DiFi? What about Barbara Boxer?
I am thinking of organizing a call-in to both their offices next week. Do you think that would be a good idea? Firepups love to make calls, right?
But no, I haven’t heard anything — and I think if Lane had he would have let us know!
Sure, making calls is the least we can do. DiFi and Boxer owe it to their constitutes. Hell, call DiFi and tell her office she owes it to Harvey Milk.
thers up at the mothership
A group of Yes on 8 groupies on a corner I passed today. Interesting that there is never just one or two of them, they need a flock.
hey if two homosexuals want to get married, go for it. I am straight and just separated, so if gays want the strees and crap of marriage, go for it!
An update on the DailyKos Hell-to-Pay fundraiser for No On Prop 8: the total raised on the ActBlue Orange-to-Blue website tonight is $77,406. The night started a little over $26,000 so we’ve broken $50,000 in donations tonight alone.
Which means we’ll be lifting another fifty large out of Steve Bing’s wallet this weekend, for a total donation of over $100,000.
To quote Chelsea Handler:
What.

Whirlwind.
Please give what you can for marriage equality.
I’ve given and I’ve also created a poster/bumpersticker/shirt/yardsign design and all proceeds go to “No On 8″ which means whatever you purchase this weekend will now go double! http://www.defendequalitynow.com
Those are great!
Here’s an update on fundraising as of this morning.
