DailyKos polling shows the gubernatorial primary in Virginia all tied up a week before Democrats go the polls. And whatever Terry’s got, I don’t want any.
Democratic Primary voters MoE 5%
Creigh Deeds (D) 30 (13)
Brian Moran (D) 27 (22)
Terry McAuliffe (D) 26 (36)
Undecided 17 (29)
This is a stunning two-week gain for downstate Senator Creigh Deeds, and an incredible stumble by former DNC chair Terry McAuliffe. Undecided Democrats started to make up their minds, and it looks like they broke 2-1 for Creigh Deeds over Brian Moran; Terry may have shed his voters in that ratio as well.
Turnout is super-key: in 2006, 3.45% of Democrats turned out, giving the Senate nomination to Jim Webb over Harris Miller. Three years later, after a long presidential campaign, is there any real reason to think Virginian Democrats are more eager to go to the polls?
Terry’s direction isn’t the one any politician wants his numbers going a week before election day. Maybe the WaPo endorsement of Deeds hurt Terry, or helped Deeds, more than anyone expected?
In an essentially dead heat, momentum is what you want. Anti-mo ain’t.

Hope Virginia Democrats do the smart thing.
Wow. Thank you Teddy. Rec’d
Thanks Teddy! I’m thinking Virginians don’t want McCauliffe’s carpetbagging strangely accented alleged “I’ve created thousands of ‘Jahbs’ plan”; hopefully.
Blowmentum.
McAuliffe signs are blanketed all over Loudoun County this week, and I’ve been getting tons of phone calls from the campaign. This VA Dem just says NO.
