Uh-oh. Howie Kurtz, in his WaPo online chat today, claims that Rick Santorum may be the link between FOX News and John Ensign.
Boston: Did Megyn Kelly or FOX notify Senator Ensign of his former staffer’s letter? The Senator’s timing seems fishy (coming clean a year late, but a couple of days after Ms. Kelly was first notified).
Howard Kurtz: There is no evidence that Fox or Megyn Kelly notified Ensign, as they took no steps to pursue the story. But someone clearly tipped off Ensign. A source tells me that former senator Rick Santorum, who happens to be a Fox contributor, happened to separately receive the Hampton letter. But I don’t know if he told his former colleague Ensign about it or not.
So how many copies did Doug Hampton send around? Or were copies of the email and letter made at FOX and distributed to anyone who wanted one? And if so many FOX employees knew about the letter, how did FOX keep the lid on the letter until scooped by the Las Vagas Sun?
Someone better send a letter to John Ensign about getting Santorum out of his golf togs.

My diary on data-driven decisions might be of marginal interest to you. One of the things I look at is the handling of SB-12 here in NM. It was a domestic partnership bill that died last March.

Well, it seems like high school note-passing, until you realize that extortion of a federal official is a felony.
From what I’ve read on-line, it sounds like the feds have absolutely no plans to pursue any charges. Quel surprise.
It’s important this story stay aloft for just that reason.
It took a while before there were even initial charges in Watergate, remember. Public awareness and pressure to investigate are critical components.

John Ensign’s rogue behavior has been known in Las Vegas for some time and in fact I posted hints about it 18 months ago on another blog.
My only interest is his front as a “reborn christian”, but actually his cult membership which provides him DC living space along this servants/slaves has promoted the police state of America today. John advances their agenda along with many of his colleagues.

I was shocked at the fact he got caught which would not have happened if the shrub was still in office.
Well, Ensign wasn’t “caught” in the Gary Hart sense of getting caught.
He confessed. And we still don’t really know what prompted his confession: extortion or publicity? And if it was FOX publicity, how did Ensign hear about it?
