Who’s next to be Scozzafava’d? Why, it’s the popular & moderate Florida Governor, happily married (to a woman) Charlie Crist. The Club for Growth, anti-tax corporatist crusaders who drove Arlen Spectre from the GOP, have an ad ready to go on Florida television with their version of the 2006 Bush/Lieberman Kiss.
Watch the ad:
No mention of Crist’s campaign for the GOP nomination to the US Senate, but lots of scary music, reverb on Crist’s voice when he says the word "package," scary ominous drumming, and Obama.
Just in case you missed it, at the very end there’s slow-motion video of Charlie Crist hugging a black man onstage.

1) So where was Grovah during the Bush years?
2) Wonder what the unemployment and “economy of Florida” would be without the help of the stimulus to save some jobs and extend unemployment benefits?
3) Grovah and his “Club for Growth” are idjits.
I am sure that Dick Armey would call these very “parochial” questions.
That’s great news. Rubio will be much easier to beat than Charlie.
The last poll I saw over at The Orangerie *DK* showed Meek up only about five points over Rubio. Meek is a conservadem, and African-American, so he might attract other non-prog Democrats as well as activate Obama’s large 2008 turnout machine in 2010. But a victory over Crist would embolden the teabaggers and raise Rubio’s profile as a giant-killer, wouldn’t it?
So I’m not sure either GOP would be easy to beat. Crist is almost impossible to beat, and Rubio will be tough too. Best for us would be if Rubio won the nom and then lost the general, of course, but a Rubio win in the general would make teabaggers and CfG more powerful in areas they can’t succeed.
Progressives will have heartbreak from a Senator Meek, though.
BayNews9 (local cable news channel) had a poll this past weekend that on the Dem side had Meeks @ 26% and someone named Ferre @ 6% but the big number for the Dem nomination was 68% undecided.
Seemed to me that a lot of folks in FL are looking for a real Democrat to run
I have to catch up on Rubio. Who’s the Democratic nominee?
Neither primary has been held yet. The Dem who seems to be in the lead is Kendrick Meek, who is less than progressive.
Dang, I’m missing out on all the fun tonight. Rubio and Crist are both at my county Republican shindig and the guest of honor is Laura Ingraham. It’s a dinner. I’m not sure how they expect people to keep their dinner down with that guest list…
It also remains to be seen what level of discipline Crist can exercise over the not-too-secret facts about his sexual orientation. If he can maintain secrecy and avoid disclosures from partners, he’ll win in a walk. I’m not sure what effect late reporting, say in October 2010, might have on his chances, but it could happen.
The people, and their stories, are out there I believe.
ConservaCred War.
It’s on!
So, does this mean that the Club for Growth is ironically named, seeing how it’s trying to shrink the Republican Party?
Between the reverb on the word “package” and the slow-motion hug, the Club for Growth really wants to put Crist in bed with Obama.
I forgot to mention earlier how great it is to see this fine name now used as a verb:
to Scozzafava.
to be Scozzafava’d.
Teddy, is this yours? If so, can I use it in the months to come?
Not mine, it’s all over the place now. Use it in good health!
Their heads are so far up where the sun does not shine. They are unable to see that Crist is one of the only people that would stand a REAL chance in 2012
