Here’s who to expect from the Plaintiffs on Friday.
- Gregory M. Herek, Ph.D. a Professor of Psychology at the University of California at Davis. He will testify about the nature of sexual orientation, how mainstream mental health professionals and behavioral scientists regard homosexuality, benefits conferred by marriage, stereotypes relating to lesbians and gay men, stigma and prejudice directed at lesbians and gay men, the harm to lesbians and gay men and their families as a consequence of being denied the right to marry, and how the institution of domestic partnerships differs from that of marriage and is linked with antigay stigma.

thanks teddy — tomorrow the DI’s start their presentation?
Yes, we expect so. They haven’t been terribly forthcoming about their witnesses but we think the remaining two are David Blankenhorn and a Dr Miller. Although they might try to spend the day cross examining Mr Herek. We’ll see.
I’ve had obligations this week so I haven’t been able to be online live. I’ve read some of the parts I’ve missed but haven’t gotten to all of it yet. I miss being there.
For a preview of Blankenhorn, here is an op-ed he wrote from 19Sep08 LA Times.
A strange argument. Seems to argue more in favor than against marriage for gay adoptive parents if you accept adoption. And what about artificial insemination? surrogate mothers? “For these reasons, children have the right, insofar as society can make it possible, to know and to be cared for by the [mother and the turkey baster and no one else] who brought them into this world.”?????
I don’t get it.
