This Saturday’s long urban ramble ended at the Ferry Building on the Embarcadero at 4pm, just in time to join the rally of immigration rights activists planning to march to AT&T Park to protest the Arizona Diamondbacks because of their state’s new "papers please" law.

Here are some photos I took of signs from the rally.

I asked what this sign means. Apparently, when caught, undocumented immigrants have their vehicles seized and then sold at auction with no way to recover them. This amounts to theft by the state, I was told.

This sign was my favorite one from today’s rally. Are you listening, Barack Obama?

My favorite sign from today's rally in San Francisco

This guy made me feel at home at the rally with his sign. My English/Irish/Scots heritage family is also from immigrant stock. I don’t recall anyone talking about our ancestors being asked for their papers when they disembarked at Plymouth Rock in the 17th century.

This sign says it all. Why does money flow freely but labor is not allowed to do so? I did some very hard thinking after I saw this sign.

This was another of my favorite signs from today's rally on the way to AT&T Park

Have you had a rally or march in your town about the new Arizona ‘papers please’ law? Let us know about it in the comments.
