Hillary Clinton thinks sexual orientation and the flamboyance of one’s partner have some bearing on the revelation of her precious secret cables that were ill-protected by the Defense Department. Joining her boss in weighing in on Bradley Manning’s guilt, she seems to blame his being gay and having a drag-queen boyfriend on his *allegedly* (important word, Madame Secretary, you and your boss should learn to use it) leaking secret cables to Wikileaks.
Hillary told staff that she could not fathom how an army private, Bradley Manning, with psychological problems and a drag-queen boyfriend could single-handedly cause the United States unprecedented embarrassment just by labeling massive downloads as Lady Gaga songs.
Clearly we need to go back to the days when gays were labeled security risks and drag queens ran the FBI. There may be lots of reasons why Manning should have been kept far from classified materials and the easy theft thereof, but his sexual orientation and the flamboyance of his partner have nothing to do with it. Clinton should direct her annoyance where it belongs: at a Defense Department that failed to safeguard her department’s communications. I mean, if gay drag-queen-loving Bradley Manning could steal your cables, Madame Secretary, think who else had read them long before Wikileaks released them. That’s your problem, not one caused by Bradley Manning’s sexual orientation. Oh, and Happy Pride, Hillary. I guess we’ll have to start judging people by their partners’ indiscretions again. How’d that work out for YOU, by the way?

That the government and the media are using Manning’s being gay as some kind of proof that Manning is mentally unstable is unforgiveable. Jerks like Hillary are *supposed* to be progressive. Great way to represent the US abroad, Hillary. Again.

Her statements reveal more about her inner thoughts than perhaps she wants known. like she’s a hatin’ homophobe, willing to play to others prejudices in order to railroad someone who embarrassed her.

For someone who worked so hard to escape her partner’s shadow, it strikes me as very odd that she would characterize Bradley Manning’s partner in relation to his *alleged* bad deeds. What difference does it matter if his boyfriend is a drag queen? Hillary’s husband is a serial philanderer; was her SecState confirmation held up because her security clearance couldn’t work around that?

A person’s sexual preference should not even be an issue in most stories of current events and yet amazingly even the leaders of our government see the need to drag it into the forefront as if it had anything to do with anything.
This is the 21st century, but you would never know it if some folks rationale were used as a guidepost. It is beyond belief that someone with even a high school education would equate being gay with being mentally unstable. Unbelievable!
But I guess we need to remember that one of the candidates for President has a husband who treats people to remove their gayness–that tops them all. I can’t think of a better example of ignorance.
It’s not as if Bradley Manning could be blackmailed for having a drag-queen boyfriend, if in fact that is what Secretary Clinton is implying (even though there’s no implication of that in any of the charges *alleged* of Bradley Manning) — he put his drag-queen boyfriend on his Facebook page for pete’s sake. Not a lot of blackmail material there.
Whenever I see videos that include Mr Bachmann, I have to wonder if he himself is praying-away-the-gay terribly hard. It doesn’t seem to be working, if he is.

A while ago Jeff Sharlett did a book salon here at FDL, irc he mentioned that Hillary was a member of The Family. The same Family that has gotten the Ugandan government to outlaw and arrest Gays and Lesbians. Is she mouthing The Family’s talking points? Just a thought.

I don’t know–I think what they can’t forgive is that he made it possible for everyone to look behind the curtain. They’ll say anything disparaging about him that they can, but I think what drives it is anger and humiliation.

The US is embarrassed because Hillary and the rest of the government never tells the truth. Hillary uses espionage tactics to attack Europeans who do not want to be poisoned by Monsanto. Hillary protects the Pakistan terrorists such as David Headley. Headley seems quite comfortable in his prison cell with several CIA lawyers. Headley helped murder 160 people with the help of the Pakistan Government. No extradition to India where he might be tortured.
But Bradley Manning was tortured. That does should embarrass the new bright shiny neo-con Hillary.

Everyone knows how guarded Secretary Clinton is about her on-the-record quotes. This one about Bradley Manning had to have been approved for use in the Vanity Fair profile.
Between Obama and Clinton, I can’t see any daylight between them and Bush and Rice, at least as far as LGBT issues go, though there are other issues where they are to the right of their predecessors.
This is a good place to point out that George W Obama is parroting the other Republican candidates and saying that marriage equality ought to be left up to the states. I wonder how he would have felt about Jim Crow laws?
Well, much of the cables themselves were of venal, taudry gossip and degrading descriptions that were then blamed on the typists and aids.

We still don’t have all the facts and truth behind the Lamo deal with Manning. Lamo says he was working for the government at times, and then at others he glosses over how he met up with Manning online. For all we know, the FBI might have urged the kid to go ahead like they do some of the other “home growns or lone wolves”.
After what they have put that child through already, they certainly are trying to cover up more than the underpants!

FDL loves to dump on Hillary so as to justify the rejection of her in 2008 in favor of Obama. Sorry, but that rejection was a mistake by the left. No need to worry through as she is not running in 2012.
As to Teddy’s complaint that Manning is viewed by Clinton as a lower level worker with non-political interests if gay drag queens, making the download and later diplomatic fuss a result of the actions by someone you would not suspect to be the source – well, it is a chance to bash Clinton – and that is what Obama wants as she is the only danger to his re-election.

WOW – a comment about how a lower level person shook up gov and FDL sees gay bashing. Oh, right, she noted that a gay person was gay, just like Bill noted that Obama’s racist call to blacks in the SC primary – leading to Bill being called racist – because you see if a black calls for a racist vote he is just calling for “group loyalty” and you can’t say he is asking blacks to vote for him because he is black – even when his staff and friends were making that call to the black voter.

Hillary is a Methodist – not a member of the family – has attended Wednesday prayer breakfasts at the house that is the location of “the family” – but then she has had her own prayer group for 20 years in DC and is a regular church going person – perhaps being too religious now adds to reasons Obama does not want her to primary him in 2012?

Secretary Clinton has somehow mistaken who embarrassed the United States. Apparently to her the embarrassment is that someone who watched all this crap go on day after day let the public know how their money and more importantly their trust was being squandered – not that government officials were doing those things.
Speaking as an American citizen, let me tell the woman who voted to decimate the point of bankruptcy and give banks more rights then people AND despite overwhelming evidence of fraud to give a cabal cover to illegally invade another nation because both would in some way harm her future campaign plans, I have learned to doubt her judgment. This does nothing to change my opinion that her future prestige and earnings will always trump doing the right thing for the country.
