Did Obama make the economy worse? Yup, according to Willard Romney, over and over and over.
Or not? At the end of that clip above, you hear the announcer read the Romney campaign’s statement that well, he was talking about the stock market when he said he didn’t make the economy worse.
What?
Well, now the sun has dawned again, so maybe — yes, worse:
Who knows what Willard thinks?
I’m waiting for a day that ends in “Y” — I’m sure we’ll get a straight answer from Romney about whether Obama made the economy worse.

It’s fun to watch him squirm, and he can’t help himself: it’s his nature to want to please whoever he’s speaking to, and he speaks to such a wide array of GOPs as the front-runner. This is only the middle of the wonderful series of Mitt’s Flips. Many more to come.
Your title is really funny. Mitt is NOT the great communicator, to say the least.
Lips flapping, brain flopping.
Yeah, it’s pretty hard to be clear in speech when you’re as unclear in thought as he is. It just looks like mud inside his head.
And thanks!
Romney campaign’s statement that well, he was talking about the stock market when he said he didn’t make the economy worse.
The stockmarket is about the only thing that has gone up under Obama? Am I going to need a scorcard to keep track of Mitt’s flip flops?
Yeah. Great title.
Mitt is making Obama look like he has a Spine and that takes doing. On the plus side no matter what Mitt does he can always claim he fulfilled 50% of his campaign promises.
no surprise from our man Teddy
that too.
Has Romney ever described, at all, how President Obama has made the recession worse or slowed the recovery? Or has he ever presented any way the president could have speeded up the recovery? Or does he just say such things without any explanation or reference at all? Some interviewer should ask him what he means by “made the recession worse” or “slowed the recovery” – How? – instead of asking him if he stands by his previous statements. Are there no real journalists following him around?
I believe that Mitt’s garbled message is deliberate. It’s part of the degradation of language designed to confuse and dishearten the electorate.
.
When we vote for a Dem, we know he’s not going to keep his promises–he’ll cave in and play the ‘Bad Republicans made me do it’ card.
.
The Repugs are now spouting nonsense and neologisms, to mask their real target: the fear center of a voter’s brain.
.
It’s very similar to methods used to get people to join a religious cult, and a bit like classic ‘good cop/bad cop’ maneuvers.
.
The important thing to remember is:
BOTH SIDES ARE WORKING TOGETHER ON THIS.
Love the title, Teddy. Captures the Mittster perfectly! And this is the FRONTRUNNER?
Excellent!
Yes. SASQ.
If Democrats think voters are going to give a shit about these kinds of split hairs in the piss-ass economy Democrats are pumping for 2012, they deserve to get run out Congress on a rail.
Voters are going to look at the economy and pass judgment on the people in charge. And if they can’t feel a positive change in their lives, a $300 billion “education” campaign to tell them all the great things you’ve done for them, and a $300 billion attack on Mitt Romney’s changes in position won’t help. (There is no shortage of material available for Obama’s flip-flops too.)
Incumbents get thrown out on their ass if things suck. It’s as simple of that. It’s the story of 2008, not the unification of red America and blue America. And Democrats aren’t helping their chances by green-lighting cuts to Medicare, Medicaid and Social Security, and embracing austerity during a period of 9-10% “official” unemployment.
It was refreshing to see the little New Hampshire TV station doing what David Gregory et al would never…. Play the damn tapes and show a shallow liar for what he is.
Trouble is, is that Obama did make the economy worse, much worse, by ACTING LIKE A ROMNEY REPUBLICAN. This is always the elephant, as it were, in the room.
As usual, the Dems would have a great strategy against such claptrap, except that they forgot to be Dems earlier on, so they don’t. Oopsie.
Thanks.
You are absolutely correct in this.
You are absolutely correct in this.
Also.
Recall, though, that Willard simply must win New Hampshire if he’s to win the nomination and that the New Hampshire media, and populace, takes its role very seriously. I would expect this kind of attention on Mitt’s floppy flips to be the rule and not the exception up there. Whether word reaches into the Beltway is quite another matter.
Yep yep yep. All Mittens has to do, when the public is as angry and depressed as it is, is say something that sounds almost like a “solution” to something, and to not be Obama.
If Romney gets the nomination it’s going to come down to who’s the biggest lier and fraud between he and Obama. We’re screwed either way of course.
Romney is entitled to use whatever first name he wants. Given the immense number of things one can criticize him for, to ridicule his name is childish.
Flip-flop, does he think he’s a democrat?
Great post, Teddy!
Stop making sense! There are no “real” journalists in the USA anymore. They’re all vapid talking heads who read lines on Telepromtrs and say what their bosses tell them to say. No one asks real questions anymore, does any real investigation.
Remember how the Tea Partiers got their panties in a wad bc Katie Couric had the NERVE to ask the Media Whore what newspapers she read??? How DARE Couric, you know, lob a really really *hard ball* question at the Grifter Queen?
Same now with the Mittstir… I doubt that anyone calling themselves a “journalist” these days would have a clue to ask questions such as you posit. WHAT? Ask a presidential candidate to *explain* something?? Are you nuts?? Isn’t Willard there to look good with his hair ‘n all??? Isn’t that ENUF for you??
Eh? Probably. I can go with that. It certainly looks that way to me. And the cult thing is real. That’s certainly what the PTB have worked on for decades: to create a cult mentality, esp amongst a signifcant segment of our populace. Drink that Kool Aid there, kidz, it’ll taste *really* good!
Mitt used to be Gov of MA; Kerry is still the Senator from MA.
Guess it’s something in the air there to flip-flop. Will the T-GOPers wave their flip-flops at Willard like they did with Kerry? Or will Rush Limbaugh refrain from directing the dittoheads to do that to a putative “Republican” candidate?? Professional courtesy ‘n all…
It’s no different from the rightwingers who called Obama “Barry” — or left-wingers for that matter. It’s called satire. If you’re gonna come ’round here, you’d best get used to it.
Thank you!
