Republican Study Committee Executive Director Paul Teller and other staffers were taken to task by GOP lawmakers today when it was discovered they had emailed conservative groups urging pressure on GOP Representatives to vote against Boehner’s debt ceiling increase “plan.”
House Republicans called for the firing of Republican Study Group staffers after they were caught sending e-mails to conservative groups urging them to pressure lawmakers to vote against Speaker John Boehner’s debt proposal, Politico reports.
Keeping in mind the revolving door in Washington, especially this year as GOP lobbyists signed on to be new congresscritters’ chiefs of staff and other critical policy staffers on committees, this part of the Republicans-eating-their-own sounds particularly delicious:
Lawmakers in the morning meeting started chanting “Fire him, fire him!” as an offending [staffer] stood silently at the closed-door meeting.
I wonder if GOP Congresscritters wore their white wigs and tricorner hats. “Burn him!” is next, I guess.
